Apple Prores Log will record at 4K 60p internally using the blackmagic camera app on the iPhone 15 Pro. You can record in all flavors of prores internally up to 4444. The default camera is the only app that locks what you can do internally. Same Apple Log is being used in the blackmagic app only for the the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
Dude, great video! Apple Log is gonna be a valuable tool and certainly will save some of us if we just need an extra angle. Potentially a great top down camera for tech reviewers! 6:07 I’m in this video 😂
Great video. I have an S5 but my budget is too tight right now for an S5 IIX - but I need a passable B cam for interviews. Strongly considering the 15 pro so I can match footage. I have concerns about the video quality on the 77mm lens, is it worse than the main lens when using ProRes log?
Worth bearing in mind, the iPhone 15 Pro does better than the Max from 77-119mm in the focal range because it crops the 77mm telephoto whereas on the Max it crops heavily on the 24mm lens. Gosh that was a sweaty photog sentence. Anywho, that's a very useful range for me where I prefer the better IQ of the regular Pro.
Unfortunately, it does not work in cinema mode. Log does absolutely look more like a bigger camera. But the lack of bokeh is a limiting factor. And ProRes files are huge.

Not sure what the hype is all about regarding iPhone 15 series as it still looks the same compared to my iPhone from last year . My Fujifilm XS 10 is way better at image quality compared to iPhones artificial processing . However I do like iOS 17 :)

A lot of these phone camera reviews aren't that honest and clear enough for non tech people, they are good now but still phone quality, you can shoot log but it is in ProRes file which is impractically huge yet the quality is not consistent in all lighting, you can get a dedicated camera which can get lower file size yet still in log and get actual decent consistent cinematic quality and actually learn further in photo and videography, the phone cameras are for people's convenient and unwillingness to further their knowledge and just want to stay and overpaid in the hyped zone and don't leave the garden to explore the bigger worlds. All these capabilities in it are just to show and support developments of its future potentials than an actual current full replacement of dedicated tools, you can use it to do what it's marketed and thrilled and get new one each year for slightly improvement but in same time you are aging and missed out to use actual readily available dedicated camera to record your life in good scalable quality. Just get the base iPhone and use for as long as you could for phone stuffs and get a dedicated camera to widen your view in shootings plus you able to grow emotional attachment and appreciation to your devices that way too.
Those small sensors are what’s still holding it back. I will say, it keeps getting better and better though. Luckily you can tone down the sharpness in post processing
