    Q: Forge or Fabric?
A: Both in the same jar.
    Q: Shaders?
A: Yes, but only for Optifine, and only for certain shaders.
Iris needs to add DH support for DH to function with it.
    Q: Multiplayer?
A: Yes, but client-side only, so you have to explore to load LODs.
    Q: What Minecraft versions?
    A: 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.1, 1.20.2
Q: Does this work with world gen and custom dimension mods?
    A: Yes

Sometimes that burden is a temporary process as you have a major barrier and such, don't immediately stop just because you get that feeling, brute force through it until you absolutely reach your limit, and then make your decision then :)
Saying this from experience, I have ADHD and that sensation of tiresome comes too quickly that I've taught myself to stick it through for a little longer.
Also for this guy's case, he's just too busy to work on this full time, so he's scaling down his contribution, not stopping entirely.

It's crazy because LOD is such a basic feature for a lot of games. It's just that Mojang are pretty incompetent and never bothered to include it in Minecraft, despite it having no real negative downsides and increasing performance while making the game look amazing.

    • @ME0WMERE

Totally agree. After fiddling around with the settings for a day or so, I'm now used to the render distance available. The moment I turn off DH however, I'm struck with how short my regular render distance is. It's odd that LOD isn't in minecraft by default.

Distant Horizons is the most groundbreaking and most influental mod for me when it comes to minecraft. Other mods add this and that form of content, but nothing comes close to the massive basic impact this has.
Thanks for your continuous development! And do take some time off. This should remain a fun hobby after all, not an occupation. :)

Thank you for all your hard work ! This is such an amazing project and I can't believe you haven't been hired by mojang. They need this in vanilla. It makes exploring your world feel more like your choice rather than running around randomly.

Yes! Thanks for your hard work. This is a mod once you get used to it can't do without it. It turns minecraft into whole experience, only after using this mod I was able to see what minecraft was missing the true openworld feeling. Well done.

Thank you for everything you've done, man. It's great to hear that you'll still be involved in the project in the future, even if it won't be as deeply as before. But regardless, even if you walked away from it entirely now, you've already left a mark on this community that will most likely last a lifetime. Seriously, thank you. Rest assured that you made something incredible.

As a full time software engineer myself, I fully understand your decision to take a step back on your personal projects. If you were to ask me, I'd even say that keeping a healthy life, working fulltime and also keeping a side-project up-to-date is simply impossible. All the times I've tried, I've failed. So major props to you on this!
I do feel however that this feature should just be implemented into the base game. With your POC, you've shown how seamlessly it can be integrated, even as a modder. It should be possible for developers who have access to the source code to implement this in the base game. It would certainly be a much better improvement than just adding more mod-like content into the base game IMHO.
