    • @flamingscar5263

      The problem is that these modders work in Java
      Only java
      Many of the things we see, like shaders and LODs are not doable on bedrock, bedrock uses a custom, well, everything written in C++, it's why it's so fucking buggy, anything added to bedrock needs to be programmed individually in C++
      Mojang won't add something unless it's doable on bedrock, last time they did that was the 1.9 combat update and that was controversial

      With how little they update the game compared to what modders can do in Java, I'm not worried if Mojang ever decides to ditch Java and focus on the Bedrock monetization. The community will probably easily add the Bedrock updates to Java and better things like these mods

    I recommend using another mod called "chunky" alongside with DH. It essentially preloads all of your chunks (within a certain radius, most set it to 6000) making distant horizons load all of the chunks faster, which also give you more performance as a plus.

    • @WebSurfReal
      @WebSurfReal 5 месяцев назад +18

      You preload the chunks, i did it for our server that i play with friends. I preloaded on my pc on singleplayer about 6000 blocks in a square radius from our spawn. The issue is that the world save file doesnt weigh that much, but the LODS weigh like 7GB for this amount of chunks. So it is very bulky. But with this method if you have acess to the seed or the map. You can use this on server with friends very effectivly.

  • @JamesJazzz
    @JamesJazzz 6 месяцев назад +753

    Just an FYI, but it seems that you never actually went above 200/300 chunks rendered.
    Distant Horizons has to load in all these chunks, process them and then display them.
    And because your CPU Load setting (just 2 under Render Distance Input) was set "Low Impact" it never actually had the chance to load them in fast enough to really see it. (You can see chunks popping up in the distance to see the actual speed). For presentation purposes, I'd recommend setting it to Aggressive, as it takes quite a while to load them in normally. You can look around and actually see the chunks loading in the background.
    The only chunks you really saw were the ones that were already preloaded before, so increasing the distance made little difference.
    That's also why you saw that some chunks were missing. And quitting the world and re-entering it just causes the mod to load the already cached world data.

    • @alzario
      @alzario 6 месяцев назад +75

      To add to this, running a chunk generation mod like chunky overnight to generate 5000-10000 blocks radius will probably be enough almost for a whole playthrough. Unless exploring over 10000 blocks away is a thing you usually do that is.

    1) updating the settings can take a while, especially when generating as more CPU time is dedicated to generating rather than updating the terrain with new settings.
    2) the gaps are result of interrupted generation, they only appear in the LOD areas (ie if you visit them they will still be there) the 2.0.2 version of the mod did not save correctly which areas are actually generated.
    3) generation is slow in general, because Minecraft chunk generation is slow, generating 256 chunks RD can take a hour or two.
    4) most limits in settings are arbitrary, there is debug option to bypass it
    5) DH does not like when you constantly turn shader on and off

    Chunks not loading could be you running out of available VRAM or it's just that the auto generator function missed a chunk and you now have to go over and actually generate them yourself.
    I noticed that to update the LODS you have to reload the chunks in the area. While we were building a castle on our world, I would often go into spectator mode and fly away to look at the castle from a distance. It wouldn't have the new additions rendered until I reentered the area and reloaded those chunks, then I could fly away again and see the new LODS.
    ALSO; If you get that weird graphical ghosting bug from disabling or reenabling shaders, just tap R and it'll reload the shader. That fixes it.

    I assume that happened to the end, because the mod stores the structure data of your world in a sqlite3 database (a local database), and with the forced changes in the settings of the shaders, the data in that database might've become corrupted. It's useful that you found this bug though, it might be useful for the modder to replicate this case and know how to fix it, maybe when turning off the shaders, clean the database or something similar.
    I wonder if you would've had the same bug if you changed your location in the world a few hundreds blocks and see if the new terrain had or not the same bug.

    For anybody who is going to see this video toward the end and think the mod is a buggy mess:
    First, the mod is very highly experimental in it's beta. So is the shader, and especially the Iris mod. Second, this glitch only happens if you try to disable rendering while the shaders are on. If you want to disable anything always go in the order Shaders -> Rendering
    I'm sorry, but the part of the video where you try the different render distances (256, 500, 1500, 2000, 4000) is extremely misleading. The reason you weren't noticing a difference was because of 2 things:
    1. The mod can't just instantly generate millions of LODs, it needs a lot of time to generate them, especially when they become very numerous after 128 chunks of render distance. You need to adjust the CPU usage to Aggressive and wait for hours, days or even WEEKS to generate enough to display the 4000 chunks render distance. That would also take up 10s or 100s of gigabytes of disk storage, as DH now stores it's LOD data as full resolution block ID
    2. The shader mod adds fog that makes it difficult to see past 256 chunks during some parts of the day/night cycle in the game. This can be changed in the shader settings, of cource.
    Hope this helps.

    Upping the actual render distance with chunks can work decently, increasing your lod distance with chunks will cause the drop in graphic quality to be spread out over further distances

  • @rejuksss

    I noticed that the problem with this mod is that the chunks need to be pre-loaded first. In other words, if you just spawned into a new world, the chunks that you never loaded will never show up in the distance. But if you flied/walked around the world for a bit and then returned to your spawn point, then you would see that the very distant chunks are still loaded in the background, making it look like you can see really far. It's a bit of a shame that the mod can't load the chunks that are really far in a low resolution and only increase the resolution when you get closer.

  • @nasz_komputer
    @nasz_komputer 6 месяцев назад +5

    Why it cant load some chunks?
    Probably some chunks was never generated, so to show them minecraft need to generete them (which it take some CPU), you can try change the setting "CPU Load" from Low Impact to higher.

    i actually had an idea for a solution to the render distance near the horizon.
    one could be a world curvature effect, which could just bend the unrendered land over a fake horizon maybe?
    another solution would be the old minecraft fog effect,but just have it off way into the distance so it kinda softens the horizon

    I see alot of Distant Horizon videos now but I hear nobody talking about the mod "Bobby"? The mod has been around way longer than Distant Horizons and does almost the same but without graphical issues. If you want to generate chunks far away without needing to load them first, you can combine Nvidium + Bobby + C2ME (You need an Nvidium GPU tho), this then loads the chunks far away automatically. Bobby is pretty underrated.
    Oh and also, Distant Horizons uses LODs (like mentioned in the video) but Bobby instead saves those chunks so they look the same from every render distance. Distant Horizon instead makes the chunks far away look bad in detail if you zoom in.

    • @Finikyu
      @Finikyu 5 месяцев назад +1

      That's because they do completely do different things. Bobby is saving the data that the server sends and storing it so you can view it as if it were single player, DH is doing LOD allowing you to view chunks that don't actually "exist" just graphical lookalikes.

    • @KeksiGaming

    the reason why your lods were loading slowly is because in the settings, ur cpu load was low impact so it was using less cpu power, if you want it to load fast you have to increase it to like aggresive. Also what you loaded was actually not 1500 chunks, it was around 256 only, 1500 takes a lot of time and performance to load, when u rejoined the world it simply boosted the first few lod chunks to load
