Taking apart the door, I found that the latch was in the closed position even though the door was open. If the control board powers up while it thinks the door is closed it throws a code 188. Then in turns off all the lights on the input panel and won't take any input. I figured out how to flip the latch to the open position and reassembled the door. The dishwasher is working now, but I'm ordering a new latch just in case. Thanks for the video, which was a help.
How did you flip the latch to the open position? This is my problem as well

How do I troubleshoot it to see if this is the issue? It's a 4 month old machine.
It will "pop" shut, but the latch doesnt lock and fully seal the door.
It worked yesterday.

Is it possible the latch is just stuck locked? I don't want to order a new part if it's not needed. Family of 6. Don't really have time to hand wash lol. Today is my one day off 😅🙏
Late reply but that is possible. To fix it, take a small hook of some kind (I bent a fork), get behind the small plastic latch piece and pull toward you. It does take some force. Worked for me for a few months until I finally had to replace the part.
replaced my latch and installed wires correctly but dishwasher won’t start now. The start button blinks for 5 seconds and then the panel shuts off
When I disassembled everything it appeared that the electric leading to and from the latch had shorted. plastic connection of the wires to the latch mechanism was burnt.Can you provide the name of that part or a video about replacing it? thank you in advance
I searched everywhere for this part. They don't sell just the connector. I got some female spade terminals, and just crimped the existing wire on. My connection was all shorted as well, seems to be a common problem.
When I swapped out the part, the thing doesn't work. The door thinks it's open when it's closed, and closed when it's open. The only way to run the dishwasher is to leave the panel open, hold the door closed with a wrench, and trip the switch manually
You mixed up the connectors. Swap the locations and should work fine.
I have same issue but the connectors are on correctly...
Well maybe not exact same.issue since mine just wont latch still but will turn on and run without being latched.. which is crazy
I’m sure this is the issue. There is browning on the wires and charging around the wire connectors to the door latch. The wire connectors are stuck in the door latch. Can I add/ connect in some appropriate new wiring and where would I find the latches to fit?

I just made my own connectors, they're not special. Mine were MELTED!! Poor engineering design to run the high voltage / high current through those contacts!!

Worse design for a part ever. It's failure after almost 4 years just caused customer to abandon brand. Pure junk.
Next time I’ll buy a stainless barrel and not plastic, I think it’s warped
