Can we all pls take on the “I don’t need to participate in every discussion” mindset !!
that bit reminded me of bo burnham’s inside when he says “can anyone… shut the fuck up about any single thing?” over and over again and i relate to that so much lately - so much noise in the world and i am mentally drained, i can’t handle conversations about anything that’s happening anymore on a larger scale
@@misfitmia I feel exactly the same, suddenly everyone’s an expert on everything and there’s no escaping contradictory information from allegedly qualified people
The way you opened up the alcohol conversation was inspiring. Drinking doesn’t have to be all or nothing. It’s so refreshing to see a “normal” person talking about drinking too much sometimes in a way that most people experience at some time.
loveeee your intelligent eloquent answers to tough questions
Thank uuuu Tara xxx
I love how you address the class questions, I'd really enjoy more conversation around that if you ever do feel like doing a video on in.
I come from a working class background, and you're so right about how it's more than wealth. It bothers we when I try to address that with middle class friends and they try arguing "actually my parents have struggled with money at times" because to quote my mum... Youve got to have money to struggle with it 😂
Most definitely agreed. More videos about class would be very interesting.
I completely agree with you! Also i think parents who have lower paid jobs its harder to get appropriate time off work or use that time off work to do anything 'extracurricular' with the fam
And, I think there’s a lot of pressure to define and prove your “class”.
agreed! I am very aware of my privilege as an extremely middle class white girl but I have always felt like I identify more with a lot of aspects of being working class than upper and the discussion of the different aspects of class here has made me realise that that probably has a huge amount to do with where I grew up and went to school (a fairly underprivileged area) and that both of my parents were working class for much of their lives
You look positively radiant in this video Lucy! Would've never guessed you'd just been sick. Best wishes as you continue to recover!
The discourse around not needing to be a part of every discussion and share evey opinion Is so true. I am guilty of this 100%, and i'm trying to be better in my private life and on Instagram. But i also think we should stop pressuring creators to speak on every single issue, it's important that they do speak on big issues, but there Is a limit.
Your maturity and desire for thoughtfulness when sharing content on the internet is inspiring! Love your videos :)
I feel like youre in a really good place with your content and your channel and that's what made me come back to your videos! Every time you upload, you seem so happy to talk share your thoughts and I'm here for it 😊
💕💕
I hope that Lucy reads this especially- apologies that it is quite wordy:
I just wanted to say that I respect your answer to the assumption(s) about class. As someone who is working class (being the first in my family to go to uni, growing up on a council estate etc.) I find it SO frustrating when people that have gone to private school etc. say in these types of videos ‘oh no my family wasn’t wealthy/rich, we were just comfortable”. I think your answer instead was very honest and nuanced. As a working class woman I get very defensive when more middle class people don’t own their privilege, and when you said ‘class is a very touchy subject’ I ironically DID feel very defensive!! You’re 100% right, and despite being a viewer/fan for years, as soon as I heard the assumption, I immediately noted your accent and assumed your response. Despite never usually judging your accent otherwise. I have noticed recently I have an unconscious bias towards more ‘middle class’ people as I am resentful of the implied privilege, which is something I am working on as I move into a more diverse workplace outside of the entirely working class background I grew up in. So yeah, thank you for the honest, open response. I just wanted to say it is appreciated and I liked the aspects of class you mentioned that I hadn’t thought of before!
Otherwise, please keep doing what you’re doing! I love al of your videos and appreciate the topics of your videos and the viewpoints you offer ☺️
Thank you! 🤍
Not caring what people think of you is sooo hard to unlearn and something that definitely requires work everyday. I always try to remember that no one thinks about me as much as I think they do and that I only care what certain people (those I love) think about me. Great video as always!! ❤️
Most refreshing take on class/wealth etc I've seen in one of these for a while! The conversation is soooo nuanced and there's so many ways to look at it, and like you said it can be very sensitive. But it's so much better to be authentic than say 'we were comfortable' when really their parents were loaded and they were very privileged
Oh gosh this outfit is everything!! ✨
you are a beacon of light on this planet, lucy xx
❤️
This made me miss chatting to you, you wonderful CHATTY CATHY! xxx
You’re forever the inspiration my love, every video you make is 😘👌
Always in awe of how eloquently you speak. It’s something I continually work towards so I appreciate you and your channel greatly!
I absolutely loved this video - you’re so thoughtful and calm and mature. Honestly found it such an interesting watch
"I'm a cougar". Loved your funny, bubbly energy here.😆❤️
😂
I think that there is so much privilege in attending grammar school that people don’t realise. I grew up in South Wales and went to a school that almost got closed it was doing so badly. I would have killed to go to a grammar school but there was just none in my area. I had to work so hard to even access some materials for my A-Levels. To me and a lot of people around me, grammar school is really not that different to private school in terms of privilege.
I grew up in a small town, low socioeconomic growth, low rates of going to uni etc. We had one secondary school in the town and a grammar school in the next town along. No one I know could afford private school, that's a mad level of wealth to me. However some people in my primary school could afford tutoring and got into the grammar school, and some were able to do so without tutoring. I agree with you but think the level of wealth needed for private schooling vs the situational privilege needed for grammar schooling are two very different things!
im still half way through the video, and I just thought of how chill vibes it is and how much im enjoying the sit down content. great point of views on topics. hope you have a good day Lucy
Loved the thoughtfulness of all these answers!
The disappointed labour voter bit of the video very much resonated with me. Rashford is a more effective opposition figure to the Tory government than Keir Starmer is, and at the moment the party seem to think that returning to the slogans and values of Blair will win them an election, which I think will only lead to disaster.
Agreed, no way in any way shape or form will Keir win an election.
Completely agree with you Lucy on the need to reform social care! It's something I believe so passionately about as I grew up as a young carer, but I don't think gets talked about in political spaces with much substance, alongside general rights and wellbeing for disabled people. The Women's Equality Party is doing a huge push for an inquiry into the treatment of disabled people during the pandemic and they are the only party that I have seen advocating for disabled people with any urgency. It has actually made me so much more inclined to consider a small party when usually I would vote labour (but am now generally more of a floating left-wing voter due to general disappointment as you say). But I'd be interested in hearing you talk about this subject more :)
Yeah, a video about social care would be interesting.
AGREE as a carer on £67 a week for 35 hours (I actually care for well over 70 hours) lol.
I enjoyed every minute of this video! Lucy, you are a ray of sunshine
LOVE how honest, introspective, and self aware you are. Just subscribed!
Literally such a refreshing mindset. Being mindful of what you share and not just sharing content for the hell of it. This is why I keep following! Thanks for the amazing vid Lucy ❤️🙂 x
just recently found your channel & am so glad i did. lots of love from Missouri 🤍
Welcome!! ❤️
loved what you shared about class and politics! I really care for those topics but there's very little content made about them in yt!
The class answer was really interesting
I love these chatty videos of yours, really insightful and thought provoking! Also as many have said, that top is gorgeous!
yes to your marriage approach!! I am myself very happily married but please enjoy the time before that, it will never happen again. Cheers!:)
Loved this chatty video! So great to see some honest media and political commentary, and even sharing your journey learning about different parts in your life, so much that is online is presented as if people in their 20s have mastered their identity, but loved the present tense growth language and really enjoyed the whole thing!
not me nodding along to this vid like I'm actually being spoken to omg
yes this literally made my sunday NIGHT!!!!!!!
I loved this video ! I could listen to you talk for hours +++ that top looks gorg on you :)
OMG I have never heard it said this way, but that is soooo true! The issue with YT is that you need to make people like you in order to be able to earn well or live on a certain level. I guess this is why I never wanted to "sell my soul" to YT in the past bcs I felt like I would be going towards a person I did not want to become, someone who just does things bcs of others' approval.
I loved how honest you were
Ahh I grew up in Tunbridge Wells and totally agree with everything you had to say about it! x
Same here! I went to the same school as Lucy and hard relate to everything x
loved this lucy!! jack seems so funny xxx
I love your channel so so much! So happy I discovered it!
Wild I’ve been watching for years and years, from the states as a teen and I’m now 25 in tunbridge wells! I literally gasped.
Stunning! Loving your content lately.
I really enjoyed watching this video Lucy! Your answers were so refreshing and honest.
This was such a fun video!! I put it on a as I cleaned my kitchen and it was great company. Thanks for always making great content ❤️❤️
I love your videos being following you for years 💚💚
Oooooh I LOVED this video. And I loved that you also talked about politics. A good start for the day🥰
As part of one of my modules on my media studies degree, we read a lot about cultural capital, what it means to have capital- lots by Bourdieu The whole conversation around class is so interesting
Thanks for everything you've shared 💕
Love the chatty videos always!!!!
Love this video, and also love your hair. The hair color 👌😻
I really appreciate your answer to the class question. One thing that really annoys me in the UK specifically is people assuming that if you sound "posh", you must come from money/be spoilt. Which is not necessarily the case at all lmao
You’re looking lovely! x
You are so pretty this outfit is fantastic
Really enjoyed this!
Thank you Craig!
you look gorgeous lucy!
Are there folks out there doing things with creator professional development. Like, not branding, video creating, creator work skill development. But the kinds of professional development that helps you see what soft skills you're building and how you could potentially use them in other careers if you do want to go in a different direction eventually?
love love love this
a lot of people reallyy play up the distinction between private schools and grammar schools and i think there’s still something a little defensive in saying ‘i didn’t go to private school!1!’ without examining the privilege in the combination of affluence + grammar school? obviously many differences, can get working class people in private schools on bursaries as one example but grammar schools really require more unpicking imo and their false association with meritocracy and social mobility etc. (this isn’t meant to be a critique as much as a comment and glad people are talking about this)
I was so inspired by what you posted regarding the situation in Palestine, and how you’ve always said BLM❤️
💕💕💕
24:36 - I think the key might be realising there is no end point
Such a nice chat!! Maybe you coud get into the process of gaining confidence with singing and other creative outlets? (Including with youtube!)
YES MAKE MUSIC YES YES YES
If you ever want people to play/sing with, there's always music being made at Virtual Video Game Orchestra ✨
The most beautiful top!
Would really appreciate you including people's last name when mentioning them! A lot of women you mentioned just by first name and would love to be able to find them and learn about their work! Thanksss
I’ve linked everyone in the description, as usual! x
maybe the real secret tory was the friends we made along the way
You really should make a distinction between land and home because my nan owned a home since the 60s and recently she was ripped from it so the current council could build compact housing on the land that her house was on that she didn't own.
Omg tunbridge wells. For anyone who cares, people in Kent call TW the London out of London. It’s not true, people in Kent just have a unique outlook
love!
Great video!!
I hear quite a bit of Hannah Witton in certain phrases you use. :-)
"my assumption is lucy's a donut"
That was an interesting video. Thank you.
Liked this a lot🛤🏙🏞
At the start when you keep saying you’re lucky - if you replace that with privileged you’d be spot on.
Agreed! x
There are very valid reasons to not vote, just because I don't think electoralist politics is the solution doesn't mean I'm not fighting for the liberation of all peoples and a destruction of the capitalist and imperialist global regime.
By not voting people aren't dismantling electoralism, mostly it just helps right wing parties gain power due to lower voter turnout.
I say spoil your ballot because at least your demographic is counted in the national statistics
@@jkally1 we don't live in this 'democracy' you think we do, go through the governments of the last 45 years and tell me we've had one that hasn't been pretty right wing. And even before that we were still creating destruction around the world through our imperialism.
@@AwesomeSauceVv I didn't say we had a democracy. But I do say not participating in voting helps noone. Attlee's post war government was democratic socialist which improved social services, the public sector and created the NHS. our govts cause destruction domestically and internationally which is it's so important to curtail right-wing, warmongering, authoritarian and/ or neo-Liberal governments. Whether 50% of the population participate or not, electoralism will still exist in this currently in this country, doing everything in our name.
@@jkally1 I cba to debate this with u but what ur saying is literally ahistorical and I would recommend researching what things are before talking about it cause you couldn't be further from the truth with that democratic socialism point
@@AwesomeSauceVv you've yet to say how not voting benefits society over voting
Hello! Can you share your hair color? It looks so pretty and I'm planning to have my hair colored soon!!!
This is my natural colour! Thank you though xx
Where's your wall hanging from please?
lovely video, but there's a lot of ads in this one!
with the council flat point yep that’s absolute vs relative mobility !! and in the 1980s the attempts to universalise middle class values whilst removing languages of class that acknowledge material realities. uk is a v unequal place but this is disproportionate to the discourses about class which are ,, messy
I feel this video has a few too many ads!
💛
I am the Cheshire version of Lucy Moon and I am completely ok with this.
Perhaps you do not mean to be but you come across as EXTREMELY judgmental around people who've chosen to get married and have kids in their twenties (I'm 26 married with a one year old and I wouldn't have it any other way). Just the language you use is a bit much
I know quitting something youve been doing for years like drinking is really hard, but take my dad as an example. He was smoking since he was 13, like 3 packs a day, and one day at age 65 he just woke up and told himself he's done with it and never smoked another stick in his life ever again. I guess it all boils down to motivation and discipline, which you obviously both lack at the moment.
That's nonsense. Starts smoking at 13 3 pacs a day and lives till 65 then next stops. Doesn't make sense. By that age if he did manage to survive all the toxic nicotine would not clear in his system and literally non possible to stop. I heard doctors telling people you're better off continue smoking as is too late and will make it worse to stop. Your 3 pacs a day since 13 story doesn't really add up. Sorry.
