I thought of that line when I was watching it ☝️🤣😂
they grafted western politics onto these 2 factions beautifully. loose living and genuine love versus strict order and fake piety.
Targaryens should be more creative in naming their sons 😌
Yes I agree😭I’m all for children with ancestral namesakes but good Lord they reuse names A LOT
5 Aegon Kings is too many
EXACTLY
Even Jon snow was aegon
For real bro
Even Otto didn't believe that Viserys changed his mind, lol. He laughed at Aegon's "he made me king", cuz not. It was Otto who used his daughter again
Correct !!!!
did he just pretend to agree with his daughter then when Alicent first told the idea in the council to benefit off the situation
@paridoesupcyclning off course!
Exactly. He already had his plans fully in place when she told him. It just made things easier on him that she believed that what the King wanted.

@@levongevorgyan6789what action did Rhaenerya commit? Honestly in the show it kinda shows Blood and Cheese was more daemon then Rhaenerya, book most of her actions are pretty justified won’t go into much detail here to avoid spoilers.
@levongevorgyan6789 book version alot is justified but in show definitely made it more a daemon issue than her and the fact bro knew he fucked up after
@@levongevorgyan6789 what contrast? Rhaenyra has yet to do anything immoral in the show. Additionally, alicent and her family are responsible for the monster they turned her into in the book. You don’t get to murder several of a woman’s children, usurp her birthright, install traitors everywhere, and literally start a war and be surprised when Rhaenyra’s mental health declines.
@@nightlyrowentree6047the book version is still a rumor and it leaned more on the greens side because the maester didn’t like Rhaenyra. The book is told 3rd person in 3 perspectives. The show (according to GRRM) is the truer version of events
I love the realization she’s had of “I made a mistake” while knowing it’s too late to change things without war
Still Alicent decided to put her ego before thousands of innocent lives
She didn’t decide, she has no children anymore. Her chances to make a difference were gone two episodes ago!

@@aishahamma334i think they meant that she has no control over her children anymore. If she told Aegon and Aemond to stop the war, they would laugh in her face
She couldn't really have done anything at this point anyway, two sons have been killed, the kingdoms have allied themselves, and the green council had been plotting to put Aegon on the throne years before Alicent misunderstood Viserys. The last person who told Aegon that Viserys hadn't wanted Aegon to succeed him got fired, and even then we know Otto went ahead with putting Aegon on throne despite it not being Viserys wish. This war is much bigger than Alicent's mistake.
Rhaenyra is being naive here thinking they can talk their way out of this.

Look, I don't think Alicent had the power to stop the council, but I think all this time she justified her actions in her own mind by saying that "This is what he wanted" "I am doing my duty to my husband" "Finally after all I've suffered, after all I sacrificed it was finally acknowledged, it really wasn't all for nothing" Now she doesn't even have that to cling to.
Lmao my husband and I were laughing we had to pause it cause I was like"she knows she fucked up" 😂
Us too 😂😂 we didn't like the scene at first cause there was really no point to Rhaenyra putting herself in danger like this, but the pay off of Alicent's realization made up for it [a little].
It wasn’t just her. The small council had plans to put him on the iron throne anyway
What sucks is the Council couldn't have done it without Alicent and Aegon on board. Which they absolutely would not have had if they both knew the truth. 😅
But they were powerless if viserys woulda given up the throne before he was too weak. Plus, im pretty sure the council needed her help to put her son on the throne when viserys dragged himself to court to announce his daughter as next in line. The Council just wanted a man they could control like viserys, and hightowers just wanted to be there.
The council aren't king, it doesn't matter what the council wants, they can all be replaced
doesn’t matter here, here it was alicent who pushed the fact that viserys changed his mind, the council didn’t push this-alicent did, bc it helped her justify her resentment for rhaenyra and helped accomplish what her father manipulated her to do, and to believe that a queen would mean the collapse of westeros. now she’s having multiple realizations.
the council had nothing to use and run with until alicent told them this and gave them permission to usurp rhaenyra while directly helping making it happen herself as aegons mother, even forced him into it..now she’s stuck in her own guilt and self reflection. so well done tbh.
They did conspire. She made it possible. She had Aegon and could've called Rhaenyra back to KL but she didn't.
It was all an excuse to her to do what she always wanted. Remember the scene where she yells at Aegon telling him R can't be Queen or else him and his brothers would be in danger.
Roberts rebellion was built around a lie😂😂😂😂
But that was a stupid statement. Even if we assume lyanna loved rhaegar and that wasnt the result of grooming (she was 15, rhaegar was an adult), aerys was still an insane madman who burned neds father and brother to death as well as countless others and ordered jon arryn to kill ned and robert
@@mappingshaman5280 But even targaryen children were killed during his rebellion. Which really is built off a lie and a man who wanted something he couldn’t have.
I actually love that they made Alicent and Rhaenyra friends (different from the books).
It adds that complicated relationship between two women in power that have envy, love and resentment towards each other; it's one of the more tragic relationships for me in the series. Olivia and Emma have such incredible chemistry ❤
Yeah but we missed out Laena's relationship with our favorite princess, and the polyship that followed
I lowkey feel like they may have been in the books but both side’s historians were like “lol one last efff you~ let’s leave out a detail or two”
@@TaeSunWoo Agreed.
Even if in the books there is a big age gap between them, the maester’s probably thought women’s hatred and rivalry made a better story.
Similarly to how media likes to pit blackpink members against eachother …
😅 Sorry, I saw Queen Jennie in your icon.
Alicent is deadass the only person who ever thought Viserys wanted Aegon to be king and seeing the realisation on her face is hysterical.
To everyone saying, " Thats when she knew she fucked up"...….…......... her and Otto knew what they were going to do after the king died, regaurdless of what said at the end. They had been planning abd plotting it since she married the king.
I feel like if she had understood that the Aegon Viserys was referring to was "Aegon, the conqueror" and not her son, she would at least made it known.
In season 1, after Viserys died..she understood that she and Otto had different agendas and looked for Aegon apart from Otto so she could influence him her own way.
Otto was but she wasn't. Its quite clearly shown that she was surprised how well Otto had everything planned
I mean, this scene makes it clear that she genuinely believed that he meant her son. People just don't want to believe it because they want her to be the evil mastermind who had it all plotted out since day one. That's obviously not the case judging by this scene where you can actually see her realise her mistake.
If you can't hate her as a nuanced character with flaws who makes mistakes then maybe the hate is misplaced. Either way, it's perfectly clear what this scene is saying about the situation. Anything outside of that is just wishful thinking and fanfic.
Yes, Otto had already planned to usurp Rhaenrya but Alicent was standing ten toes down believing that Vizzy T had changed his mind and wanted her son to be King. Now she knows it's not true.

And this is how the one word started the dance of dragon 🐉
To be fair, Visery’s said “Aegon’s Dream” not the conqueror’s.
Sure Alicent made no attempt to verify what he said, nor did she just choose to, like anyone else, ignore her husband’s ramblings.
But it’s still not entirely her fault.
So the Dance od the dragons is based on misunderstanding? This is so stupid writing
It was between two power-hungry sides, not between two groups with bad hearing and uncontrolable lizards
Yeah she started a WAR for nothing😂😂😂
and now Rhaenyra knows the truth!
As much as I loved this scene, I’m surprised Alicent didn’t question her thinking after Viserys entered throne room just for his daughter. If that’s not reinforcing his wish to make her queen, then I don’t know what else would!

@@adamchiroma2568 very true.
I think that she was willing to accept that Rhaenyra would become queen.
But she still wanted her son to succeed Viserys and was just looking for a reason.
At least, that was what I thought to be the case. But nope, the show makes it clear that Alicent just chose to misinterpret the crazed ramblings of someone on their deathbed.
stg for a second there rhaenyra almost laughed at the fact that such a misunderstanding has led to all this

So many Aegons
On that moment..they realize to not name their children based on past heroes/charactee hahaha
The way i was lscreaming : FINALY THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT WHAT HE ACTUALLY SAID!!!
Alicent wanted her son as king, she bought into the fears Otto instilled in her in his manipulation but she could never outright claim that desire because she saw herself holding the moral highground. It's what turned her to finally choose green when she felt betrayed by Rhaenyra. It's why she also felt with Viserys blathering that she'd found a moral reason to desire Aegon as king because her dying husband said so. Yet now all that shatters and she realises she's no better than an Otto or a Criston (which mind you she was already questioning with their taboo relationship) and now she has no way of stopping everything she feels she justifiably caused by denying Rhaenyra her birthright. It's haunting and heartbreaking to not only confront the truth but confront the worst aspects of yourself and in that moment Oliva's horror does well to sell that and her firmness does well to allow her to surpress her own fault once more...she'll now justify she has no choice but to let the war go forward.
The realization that Alicint started all of this sh** over a misunderstanding😅😅
She just realized what she's done. And EVERYONE will burn for it. ...in the show.

The Prince that was promised was Jon Snow but dumb and dumber ruined it all in GoT.
it's daenerys.
@4rtsyval No it isn't. "A Song of Ice & Fire" Jon is half stark/targaryen. He is literally the song of ice & fire. He carries Longclaw. He is foreshadowed as the one to defeat the Night King. Dany literally never heard of the Night King nor the dead until Missandei did the old gender language change of the prophecy and Dancy proceeds to have the most smug face out of anyone on the show IN SEASON 7.
The darkness will be defeated by He who carries Lightbringer. Dany has never held a sword in her life. Also "Prince" = man. Only a man can be a prince.
@@bobafett8768
I mean 1. No, in Valeryan the word isn't gendered, so in translation it can mean prince or princess, the same way words like teacher or lawyer or doctor aren't gendered in English. The patriarchal society assumed the correct translation would be prince, but from what we know Valeryan culture was much more egalitarian when it came to gender.
We don't really know what lightbringer is or means truly. All prophecies and visions are racked with symbolism and open to misinterpretation.
Tho I don't really think there was ever gonna be a one prince or princess that was promised that was gonna defeat the big bad. It's not how Martin writes.
When we also take into account Viserys's account of Aegons prophecy, Jon fits the bill for the role. A Targaryen that will unite people in the battle against the long night. Everyone who was there that night was there because of him and allowed for their victory. It was never about who was gonna do the stabby.
@4rtsyval Let me guess you bought the whole BS the translation can actually mean prince or princess that was promised 🤣 Jon Snow was meant to be the hero the new Azora the man who pulled the sword out of the chest of his loved one with a flaming sword.
@mordecaiissad8529 Lol shut up. The whole translation is non gender thing is a Dumb and Dumber creation. Jon was the prince that was promised it's why his birth was special. Stop being stupidm

Reverse Martha moment
I was expecting her to lie and say he told her about the song of ice and fire. 😂
She couldn't lie because she didn't know Targaryens history. Vizzy T was literally telling her the story, thinking she was Rhaenyra and she wasn't paying attention until he said Aegon's name. Then she just jumped to conclusion.
Rhaenyra 😍😍😍😊
Many people died fighting a rich man’s war over a misinterpretation! Smh
How beautiful Emma D'Arcy is. ❤ Definitely one of the actresses with the most beautiful and expressive face ever!
I Agree I’m In Awe of her she is STUNNING!!
This was a masterful scene. Both of these actresses did a stellar job.
He wasn’t talking about the conqueror… he was talking about his perceived prophesied son called Aegon
Yes, she screwed it all up and will have to deal with that guilt.
Lol GOT really messed up the storyline of ASOIF. I thought the Prince that was promised will kill the Night King, hence his name was repeated several times for the entire 8 seasons of GOT. Arya was the one who killed the Night King. The Prince was Jon Snow ended up going back to the Wall. Bran became the King of Westeros and Daenerys, after building up her character, was reduced to a mad queen. 😢
The prince was always Dany, she fulfilled the prophecy in the very first book. Light bringer is Drogon.
Y’all, Bran being King was the ending he wanted. Bran is basically George telling the story of how ASOIF will be as well known as the Iliad or the Bible. The knowledge of the world is contained on trees, literally. Paper. Paper contains ancient knowledge that leads to even darker ancient knowledge contained on skins, caves, abandoned cities with no known history, or a fake history told to us so many times that we start to believe the lies. Little Finger knew the game and he was all in. George was a professor and the passing down of the torch of knowledge is how we roll. The real gatekeepers of knowledge are the Maesters. Frankly, I don’t blame them either. They had to deal with inbred royals that treat them like disposable commodities. I’d plot to take that crazy nest out too. Screw prophecy! Today is the only day that counts, because you’re not promised tomorrow. Some dude has a dream and that gives him and his progeny a locked in destiny that disrespects the will of the people. The dragons are the ones controlling the humans. They’re fulfilling whatever sick magical command that was essential code for their very existence. How do we know if any of what is stated to have happened in Old Valeria went down differently than what we and the characters know? He’s making fun of all the smart beautiful people 😂 he must have met some serious freaks in college! The man did party during the Mile High Club scene😂
@persephone342 It's very in line with how anti 'might is right' he appears to be. That's why I'm surprised how people didn't see Dany's ending coming when she's basically riding GOTs idea of nukes and flexing her military power and claiming superiority based on birthright.
George having the academic and the scholar (since Bran represents knowledge) prevail makes a lot of sense for him and the themes in the series (even if it was a bit of a wet blanket in how the show portrayed it)
For the story to end with the kingdom being lead by knowledge as opposed to muscle should come as no surprise to anyone who has really considered what they're reading
She's referring to a dream that Aegon the Conqueror had about the prince that was promised. In the show canon, that is.
It doesnt matter what alicent thought, once she got back to the council Otto was already planning to usurp viserys. No matter what the outcome wouldve been the same.
People think that its Alicent's fault but... Even if she didnt do what she did then all the manipulators would force the war upon the realm anyway. They were plotting it anyway. Alicent literally didnt change anything
Had she handled Viserys death right , Otto and his crew would have had a hard time doing what they planned! She should have reach out to Daemon and Rhaenyra First!! She went straight to her Father in secret! Misunderstanding or not… she knew what he wanted so no matter what she thought he said .. once he passed you should have been contacting his heir of that news IMMEDIATELY!
Their acting here is SO impeccably done.
Long live the Queen. Because Alicent sentenced them to their deaths with starting this dragon war along with her father, and all due to the cruel brainwashing of misogyny against women. Raised her kids to hate Rhaenyra and her children and now that they both finally do, it’s too late for Alicent to stop her two sons from commiting violence upon Rhaenyra’s side. Rhaenyra blamed for Daemons mistake with the child (His fault by not hiring guys who can listen to orders, he should’ve specified no one else be k worded except Aemond) S2 is truly tying this show all together beautifully..
She knew what she was doing
I just love Rhaenyra❤

Alicent: 👁👄👁
A point that is not discussed is that understanding that they both had after making it clear that Alicent misunderstood because she didnt know about the Prophecy, that after everything, war was inevitable, they cant do anything to stop it and they have to see it through.
Alicent is a pawn. I blame her father.
Alicent lied through her teeth.
Omg I didn’t even put that together!!! I knew I should have binged the first season again. 😂
All this war could avoided if they would stop using their ancestors name 😭
I am in black team✌️
All day!!!
This story is prime example of even if you're the rightful heir, even if you're comparatively better than your opponent, you can still lose your head and evil and falsehood can win
This is why they needed a Todd Targaryen or a Bruce Targaryen to eliminate confusion.
😂😂😂😂😂
Antonio Targaryen
Alicent is right here, that it does not matter anymore. To much blood, personal blood, have already being spilled, on both sides.
It is commentable that Rhaenyra tried, but it was clear that it was a waste of time to try going for some peaceful end. Totally understand why her Council was annoyed at her, when she returned.
If she was smart she would have gathered her two mad sons and given them that permanent sleep tea while they least expect it but the show must go on
What Allicent said Viserys said really didnt matter. Otto and the other small council had already decided long before Viserys died that they would make Aegon king at whatever expense. Ppl are mad at Allicent but she really couldnt stop the war one way or the other. Maybe if she abandoned the Greens and spoke out for Rhaenyra but thats not realistic, especially with everything that had transpired by that point. No matter how awful her sons are, she's not just going to turn on them which is how they would see it if she tried to do the right thing.
if they could've had this conversation wayyy before everything goes to shit.....
The fact she truly believed that she was right irked my soul. There was no reason for her to ever even think it. Not when he made clear every step of his life who he wanted on the throne. ALICENT WAS A LEECH.
a war over the wrong name. best
Great. Now she knows so let's send team green to the wall. Yes, i mean the fans.
She knew she fuckd up 🥶🥶🥶
And yet Rhaenyra still named her other son Aegon. No one learns their lesson in this movie 😤
He still wanted her to be queen. All of his children were obviously his blood, but Rhaenyra was HIS CHILD, and not the court’s.
The war would’ve happened anyway though, as Alicent found out Otto and many on the council were already planning to usurp the throne. Alicent seemed more upset that she wasn’t included than the fact that they were committing treason. I think even if she half heartedly tried, she wouldn’t have been able to stop anything.
This scene was soo RIDICULOUS
Because everyone wants to be the aegon.
