I have 5 HK handguns (and a rifle). They are fantastic handguns. No one can legitimately make an argument that they are not well made. Very high quality, durable, accurate, and ultra-reliable. Most are not competition guns, so you can't fairly compare them to striker-fired guns designed for match shooting. They are self-defense guns, with most of them designed specifically for police and military use. Looking into the future, I see several more HK models making there home in my collection.

One thing I noticed when I bought it is that it seems like a more thought out polymer design than the other brands. I feel confident this pistol will be around long after I'm gone.

As a (soon to be former) resident of the People's Republic of California, I had a choice between the ol reliable G26, M&P Shield, & this weird pistol I never heard of but with quite a price tag & a long ass name to boot: H&K P2000SK V3. Rented the 3 at the range and shot em all.
    - G26: Easy to shoot, solid little gun, hated the sights, but man I did not like how chonky the gun fit in my hand
    - M&P Shield: Felt too narrow in hand, liked the sights, but HATED the hinged trigger (wtf were they thinking)
    - P2000SK: Grip felt like it was custom molded for my hand, solid sights, and while the striker fired pistols were "easier" to shoot my groupings were solid when shooting SA.
It was love at first grip. I knew I had to get the P2000SK, price be damned. Picked it up new at BassPro for $100 off the MSRP bc someone fudged the display price so they had to honor it. And now it sits on my desk and nightstand as my go-to, do-all pistol. It was my first pistol and it made me a DA/SA stan and an HK fan when everyone was telling me to "don't think too much, just get a Glock." Oh well, you don't pick the gun, the gun picks you. :)
Also: it's aesthetic AF & sometimes I just like to admire it

@@jrengo87You get what you pay for and being that it’s a hammer fired gun but I would get the LEM variant and upgrade to the Grey gun short reset kit and their straight trigger shoe. Also when your reholstering you can thumb the hammer so it won’t fire if something gets in the trigger guard especially when appendix carrying. Besides when it comes to protecting my life or my family I’ll spend the extra coin.

I agree with you 100%. I've had several Glocks, Sigs, Cz's,etc. over a 40 year period and they are all fine semi autos. However, the P2000 sk LEM is my very favorite conceal carry handgun. The LEM trigger is absolutely a great choice for a carry gun. Phenomenal overall quality and great ergos. Plus I prefer a hammer style pistol over a Striker fired one as well. I also upgraded the magazine release. Being a car guy to; Hk's are the Porsche of all semi autos in my opinion. Thanks for sharing

I was issued a HK P 2000 by my agency. Carried it for several years until they changed to a Glock. I hate them both equally. While I carried the HK during those years, my partner fell of his ATV, twice. Fell on his gun side both times and both times he broke the frame with his hips. Take it for what it’s worth.

There are several options that are better than Glock. Glock is a great option for the money, but that’s about it. H&K, FN, Older sig models like the 229, or 226, etc. I love my Glocks, but I own pistols from all the manufacturers I just mentioned, and they run allot better than glocks do. Far more accurate, and smoother by a long shot.
