That is very helpful, almost 2000 women being treated to prevent ONE death! I did test positive and I don't want to receive antibiotics, I think they should not be used preventively, at least not with numbers like this. But you are so pressured by the outside. I decided to read a lot about the signs of newborn sepsis and be hyper vigilant once little one is here.

I’d love to hear your experience after declining antibiotics and delivering your happy baby. I’m currently 37 weeks and it’s tested positive and while I always want to do what’s best for myself and baby I also feel swayed and think this is rather unnecessary but don’t want to make the wrong decision.

Yes, I would also love to know your experience with declining the antibiotics and your happy baby? I’m planning to have a home birth and not sure if I am positive or not.

@@diana5203 I had to end up delivering in the hospital due to my water breaking before labor starting (prom). My midwives were super careful and thus recommended I go in due to the risks of infection as they didn't anticipate that I would deliver within twelve hours.
At the hospital they were horrible, trying to scare me into taking the antibiotics and that, if my baby would get an infection, they could die. I told them I was aware of the risks but that I still don't want them but am willing to treat my baby as soon as they show signs of infection.
I ended up delivering 20h after my waters breaking and stayed in the hospital for three days (as is the norm in my country). My baby's temperature was monitored every couple of hours and I was looking out for skin discoloration etc that could hint at an infection. I also told my postpartum midwife to have a close eye and she inspected my baby daily for about a week after his birth including monitoring his temperature and he was fine. He didn't need antibiotics and I'm very happy I did it this way.
I just found it important to know the risks and I potentially would have agreed to antibiotics or an induction, had my labor not started within a day of my water breaking but I cannot say for sure as it didn't happen this way.

Hello , thanks so much for this info , my due date is July 15 , they did a test back in December and said that they found the GBS bacteria , they gave my 500 mg 3 pills per day , per 7 days!!! I didn’t want to take but I got scared 😱 … so my doctor said I don’t have to do the test again , but I’ll have to have Iv and put the penicillin o what ever they use to prevent baby getting sick … I don’t know what to do
