Ace was my favorite KISS member. He's in my top 5 all-time favorite guitarists (Top 3 really, no particular order; Mick Mars, Ace Frehley, Malcolm Young). I bought Frehley's Comet when it came out. 'Breakout' was my favorite off that album. I saw him live at the Boathouse in '90. He is a living legend. A Rock God. Space Ace. And of course, I love ELO. They're part of the soundtrack of my youth.
This was on an Ace Frehley solo album called, Trouble Walkin’. Richie Scarlett was the other guitar player who actually was the original guitarist in Frehley’s Comet. He was replaced by Todd before the first album was released. Obviously later came back. Sandy Slavin was his drummer during this era. He had a few bass guitar players in and out during this time period as well. James LoMenzo was the bassist who spent most of the time holding down the low growl during that time.
They see me rollin' Ride on my friend Ride on. This comes from the '89 album Trouble Walkin' his second solo album. This is not a covers album. It didn't do very well and wouldn't be until 2009 until he released a third solo album. Of note on the band is Anton Fig. Whom you might know as the drummer for Paul Shaffer and the World's Most Dangerous Band from David Letterman.
That’s Sandy Slavin on drums who played on Riot’s album, Fire Down Under album with their song, Outlaw that you reviewed. And that’s Richie Scarlet on guitar and John Regan on bass. This ELO song was on Ace’s album, Trouble Walkin’. The actual drummer on this studio track is Anton Fig.
Great cover. It's off of Trouble Walkin' which came out in 1989. By far his best post KISS solo album. Much heavier and more cohesive than Second Sighting. And the Song Back to School has the Skid Row guys on backing vocals.
The Album This Is On is All Fire. It's called Trouble Walking. if I can remember right, came out after Second Sighting, it's Ace, John Regan, Ritchie Scarlett and Anton Fig. Saw Ace in Concert about 10x. Will Sub if your doing more Ace. Came out in 1990 if I Remember Right. Met Ace 8x all bit 1x were ok and 1x was Awesome. You Should Do Trouble Walking or 5 Card Stud
Holy moly.....this OG Ace Girl hasn't seen this video in eons! The song is my absolute fave of all time by ELO and I was initially horrified back then when I heard Ace was going to cover it, but I thought it turned out pretty decent. Of course the kicker was him spinning a line: "Do ya want THE ACE?!" Come on, man! 😸 While Trouble Walkin' was not a covers album, Ace did later release 2 covers albums, Origins 1 and Origins 2.....
This is off "Trouble Walkin'." John Regan actually was the one who urged Ace to cover this song. Ace said, "I can't sing that fucking song! Too many words!" I thought Ace did a great job with it. The song strangely fits his vocal register. The video was a little sappy though.
very easy, I like to try and go in with no information purely base on a first time hearing that paticular song, I am not a professional, just a douche on the internet.

Excellent song for Ace to cover. Fits his style perfectly. Excellent guitar sound too.
Grew up with ELO and loved this song, then Ace took it to next level!!!

Trouble Walkin' is my favorite track
The song was originally recorded and released by The Move in 1972
I loved Into The Night off Frehleys Comet
Very good song..

This may be Sandy Slavin in the video, not Anton....it's been so long, though, my memory could be faulty....

How you do a reaction video for a song without any previous research about it?

I heard the Ace version first and prefer it. Interestingly, Ace said in an interview that he kicked John Regan out for sleeping with his wife.
@Sean Reynolds yeah, Ace mentioned it on some radio interview a few years ago
