I saw a comment on the original video and it made me sad but it is true. If this concert took place a few years earlier, Dimebag would have been on stage and now I tear up thinking about that. Love this version and everyone involved killing it.
You can bring together any number of metal musicians over 30, an hour before any show, and I'd bet dollars to donuts they could play this song. It's so Iconic they ALL would most definately know it.
Having KISS's original lead guitarist Ace Frehley there TRULY made this whole song awesome and great! It's too bad KISS wouldn't let him jam with them when they closed the show, but Ace did come out and jump on Gene's back lol.
I wholeheartedly agree...but, knowing the two other members of the band, it didn't surprise me that those swollen egoes would find a way to keep Ace and Criss from doin their thing on stage one last time...ASSHOLES.
If they were in makeup, I guess I can see why. I've always thought new members should come up with their own designs, not use the makeup of old band members, but of course, that's not up to me, said Captain Obvious. Eric Carr had his own. Vinnie Vincent had his own.
This is from the first VH1 Honors.VH1 did them for a couple of years then stopped. This one celebrated Kiss and Heart. There is another video out there somewhere of Alice in Chains joined by Gretchen Wilson doing Barracudea. Gretchen can flat out sing.
How ppl diss on KISS is beyond comprehension. God Of Thunder was off Destroyer album and fast became a staple of shows and is still played these days. Gene usually flies to the rafters and plays / sings up there after drooling blood. We all know it’s going to happen but you are still in awe when it does I’ve seen this “supergroup “ that aptly called themselves GODS OF THUNDER do this so the clip was not new to me. Rocks the house down still!!!
The Les Paul Ace is playin in this one is nothing but blue, ivory, n black ass-kickery...(little trivia if I'm remembering correctly. Scott Ian is Meatloaf's son-in -law)
Pretty cool! We used to cover this tune back in the day, always loved playing it. We also did a cover of their song Strange Ways which was a great tune not many people knew, I loved rockin the solo. We played it a bit harder and faster probably cut the tune down 30 seconds. I play and collect guitars and I own a few bass guitars. I did own a Kramer Gene Simmons Axe pretty cool guitar and always a conversation piece someone offered me more than i ever thought it was worth so I let it go.
I don't want to throw any shade, but I was really hoping for a drum solo. As KISS fans know, God Of Thunder, on the album KISS ALIVE II, had a pretty mean(and lengthy) drum solo. This was cool nonetheless.
From these VH1 Rock Honors shows, you gotta check out Gretchen Wilson doing “Barracuda” with Heart and Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains) on guitar. Incredible vocal performance
I love you guys, first because of the awesome reactions but when it dawned on me to check out your music unholyfuckingshit!!! So fucking awesome I love you guys!!!🤘😈🤘
The greatest supergroup are the Traveling Wilburys. I won't name all the musician but it is the biggest collection of super star Rock n Roll Hall of famers in one band. Try the song Handle with Care. See if you know the artists in the video. It is a history lesson in music.
This is another example of Ace blowing it. Having been out of the band for 5 years, during which time he succumbed to his old demons, he finally got cleaned up in preparation for this show where his old band was being honoured ...... as he has often done he spectacularly fell off the wagon that night egged on by Slash, and gave Gene and Paul justification to close the door for good.
I think this is going to be an amazing video ! ❤ ! The jacket is a 'skeleton' ! They play very incisively ! This is another exibition for the music ! I notice the unusual two bass drums ! The inches of their diameters are very different ! Tommy Lee plays really well ! Precise , groovy and not 'standard' ! 6'23" ❣ 8'28" You two are not less cool !
Did you guys know that Slash actually tried out for KISS when Ace Frehley first left? Paul Stanley said he was a really good guitarist and would have fit well I'm KISS, but was just a little too young at 16.
Hold on... Is the cigarette in Slash's mouth a real one? It doesn't look lit. Is he just have a fake on in his mouth just to keep up with the image he created?
This was Jammin! However, Rob Zombie is so .....Mono tone. No vocal range. You like it or you dont. I would have loved to have seen someone else sing. Rest of the band...perfect for this.
I saw a comment on the original video and it made me sad but it is true. If this concert took place a few years earlier, Dimebag would have been on stage and now I tear up thinking about that. Love this version and everyone involved killing it.
Norwegian KISS fans since 1979, Thx for sharing

thought id saw it all.....this was pretty cool!
watching Ian Scott dancing with the axe bass made me smile all day
I came here for the name...thx 😊
Everyone of these dudes loved KISS when they were kids
They all already knew the song
Destroyer 1976
👅👄⚡️😾
KISS - Destroyer was the first album I ever owned.
Hell yea they kick ass🔥🔥🔥🔥
I would have given almost anything to have been back in the party room with these guys. Iam 65 and still star struck.
I tell people KISS is their favorite bands favorite band.
Spot on!
so many cool people on stage like come on man they are all rock legends
Kiss inspired all these guys to pick up a guitar. They probably all had a Kiss lunchbox as kids.
one of the guys was IN kiss and was the guy who inspired all those guys 😂
I'd be willing to bet that anyone on that stage could probably play any OG KISS song from memory...
LET THERE BE ROCK, LIVE AT THE RIVER PLATE!!
6:46 Ace's solo started off well enough, but then he totally fuqued up the 2nd half.
You wanted the best, you got the best! That was like watching five grown men fulfilling the dream live on stage! That was AWESOME!!
The "axe" is actually a copy of Gene's famous bass. it might actually be his bass, not sure.
Gene probably rented it to 'em, for a mere "nominal" fee.
It was Gene's that's why Scott was geeking so bad lol
I'm 51 years old, and to this day that's the coolest bass I've ever seen in my life.
He first started using it on the Dynasty tour!!
@@Itelkner OMG that was funny man. 🤣🤣🤣
Thats the Bass that Gene uses from time to time
This is my favorite performance ever and to see Suzi jamming to it 😍🥰😘😘😘😘😘
You forgot the heaviest riff man to ever wield an axe SCOTT IAN!!!!
Ace Frehley is the reason I picked up a guitar
Same
Same here. He prob influenced more than most would admit
Me too!! Still love to play Spacemen Riffs!,
Столько хороших гитаристов, но нет же😂
Me to. My friend Mike like Peter. Me of course ace and Harry like Gene. We was gonna are band wild hurricane. But it was just talk.

I love that Alice In Chains and Gretchen Wilson performance.
@@alisdair13 Soooo good! And who knew Gretchen could sing like that?
U guys should check out "hollywood vampires"
Gene Simmons bass guitar from the late 70's early 80's that he played he gave Scott a replica of his original bass
Scott Ian going nuts!! I love it!!!! ♠️
Gene used that Bass starting on the Dynasty tour!
All rock stars on stage are KISS fans
Great cover! Ace Frehley sounds great!
Thanks guys this is awesome

MVP concert
Amo esta versión, tantas estrellas juntas para tocar una canción icónica del rock. Gran reacción como siempre, saludos Wolf Hunterz!
Thanks to Paul Stanley for writing this rocker
I listen to very little of Rob Zombie but damn can he sing and work a crowd!
The Les Paul Ace is playin in this one is nothing but blue, ivory, n black ass-kickery...(little trivia if I'm remembering correctly. Scott Ian is Meatloaf's son-in -law)
This is my favorite live version of this song. This version in particular, reminds me of *The Mighty Thor* lol 😎
That was awesome seeing Scott “Not” Ian thrashing on Gene Simmons axe bass.
The “Not Man” Cometh!!
Anthrax baby!!!
Another quality reaction. All the 🎸 gods together, plus Tommy Lee and Rob Zombie. This would be a most excellent supergroup.

Let me when you're playing in Shreveport, La. I'll be there.
Very touching to see em give tribute to one of the worlds greatst bands, Ace topped it
Ace♡
they should have toured that band
Suzi 🤘🫀🤘 so beautiful!

This was done on the VHI Rock Honors program
I see one cool guy on stage: Ace Frehley
Seriously, you guys reacted to Kiss many times and never noticed the AXE bass that Gene Simmons plays?
I own one of the Axe Basses
I love you guys, first because of the awesome reactions but when it dawned on me to check out your music unholyfuckingshit!!! So fucking awesome I love you guys!!!🤘😈🤘
this version is the only kiss song on my spotify liked list ......... not the only rob zombie song
Ace, pronounce like Fray-ley

You should check out some of Ace Frehley solo stuff. It is very good especially his instrumentals.
Rob zombie is so awesome
@#$$%n EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This axe is the bass of gene Simmons he had for this song
I think Gene called it the battle axe. Ace Frehley is so awesome Rock Soldiers Back in the New York grove Rocket ride. Wow
I was thinking that bass was called The Executioner model.
Head chopper style, like 1 Gene Simmons played
Love your nose girl
Ace and peter should do music together with John 5
This is another example of Ace blowing it. So much better than the original lmao, the drums and vocals absolutely slay KISS's version
NOBODY OUTWORX DA MAN TOMMY LEEEEE !!!!!
Gene Simmons is the God Of Thunder 😌😎😎😎
Originally a Paul Stanley demo song :P

PLS react to this: Polish Metal Alliance - Stars (Hear N' Aid cover)
I'd buy all there's guys albums
Ace is very nice
Haven't seen you react to Liliac lately, they did a dio cover last in line and they are about to release dear father soon
Please react Mr. Big - Daddy Brother Lover Little Boy - Live Tokyo 1991

Plz React to RAN-D Hurricane
It wouldn't have been hard for these guy's Ace tell the what chords are an Tommy knows the basic beat so lead solo's and Tommy's fills can be adlibed
Str8 dOpe
Kiss is my favorite band but this song so fits rob zombie’s voice sorry Gene no disrespect
this is good but the bass is not there for me
React to Kiss God Of Thunder East Rutherford NJ 2000
Original lineup or no lineup at all!

@@CMFT_69 Sorry, 2000 was the original lineup. Most of the KISS videos I've seen from East Rutherford came later. My mistake.
