Man cheers for this lol I've gotten better at it but that was my one weakness. My other weaknesses is trying to fit massive loads through really narrow European gateways on the side of roads but you live and you learn better to screw up in the virtual world than the real world lol I've never played World of Trucks but you should create an online server to mess around with the fans would make for a fun live stream or video like a convoy i would 100% join in.
Yes! Thank you! I've got another video planned where I show how to parallel park a tractor-trailer! I know a lot of people have trouble parallel park their cars; I'll show how to do it in a big rig! It may be a week or so before that one comes out, tho.
Hi after 16 yrs with a 53ft I had a ltl company have me run around town with the little pup trailer and I was all over the place I looked like a rookie lol
LOL, I know what you mean; I'm doing local stuff these days and one day I had to hook to a pup trailer. I had so much trouble backing it into a dock I felt and looked like a rookie, too! 😂😂😂
Wow, I wish this video was made sooner as I learned how to backup from your videos on ATS and saw how the wheels moved. Real scavenger hunt from the different angles and what it effects and how to execute them using the controls. This will be very useful for players who don't know how to backup already, I think this is one of the most useful vids to backup yet.
Thank you Karl! Practice and taking it slow is the key. When I was in training, we were never allowed to touch the accelerator when practicing in the training yard. I hated it because I'm impatient, but it turns out that it's a great way to learn these skills.
I just found your youtube channel and It is so awesome to see a real trucker playing this game. This video is particularly useful as these tips are coming from a real trucker applied in the game. Keep it up!
I am very happy with your tutorial. in the real world I've only once rewinded the trailer, in fact it's very easy, the main thing is to pay attention to the wide mirrors on the left and right.
Hey buddy! I got this game a couple weeks ago and after shutting it off for the night I decided to search it on RUclips. Your "real trucker reacts to ATS" video was the first one that popped up! Would you please do a video on how to back up those articulated trailers? The B-Double (I believe it's called) is one thing, but throwing a third trailer on there makes everything so confusing, especially for those of us who aren't truckers lol Keep up the great work. Your channel deserves more views!
Thanks 6 Speed! I don't know anyone who can back those articulated trailers more than a few yards. Euro doubles are designed different, so it's a bit easier with them, but I've never done it.
Nice tutorial Rick like it, simple technic but helpful. Waiting for the next video. I couldn't imagine in real life how hard to backing up that trailer on that tight spot between 2 trailers.
That's not tight; tight is backing into a spot with only a foot or so on either side! I'm glad you found it useful; I hope to have the next one ready for the morning.
When I back my camper IRL I hold the wheel at the bottom. Then all you need to do it move the wheel in the direction you want the trailer to go, instead of the opposite way. For some, it's an easier method because you don't have to turn the wheel in the opposite direction.
Now there's an interesting technique! And you raise an important point; find a way that works for you to get the job done. Thanks for sharing that tip.
Great video Rick I can’t wait for the next one backing into a space between trailers. One thing I struggle with is getting into tight gateways and tight turns at junctions with long trailers without the trailer hitting the stopped vehicles in the other carriageway
I am planning a tutorial for turning, both left and right, at junctions with 53' trailers and doubles. I may include long articulated trailers, as well.
Really like your videos. Since i am from germany i started with ETS2, but have grown to love ATS a bit more. For one because of the scenery, and second - its a way bigger challenge. When i started ATS it really took me some time to get used to the behaviour of trucks and trailers. There are sooo many things that help you in ETS when it comes to proper maneuvering - shorter wheelbases, almost always the trailer axles are not situated directly at the back, articulated axles on both truck and trailers. At first it really felt like back to the stone age - no offense ^^
I understand what you mean about American trucks & trailers. And a lot of people have mentioned the varied scenery in the US maps; it's one of the things I've enjoyed most about driving over the road in real life! I have yet to experience Euro equipment; but, a lot of people tell me about the unique characteristics of the Euro trucks & trailers. I'm really looking forward to ETS2 for the new experiences you and others have mentioned.
Yeah definitly the main thing is to take it slow and if it goes to far just pull forwards. Being in cam 2 usually can help me anyway and I can back up pretty well on keyboard.
@@Myotradventure Yea, I use cam two mainly because baking up while in the cab never really drew me in, lol, especially on the keyboard. The camera 2 with a keyboard makes it much easier for me, at least.
what about how to back straight with a double trailer / triple trailer / some kind of weird trailers from heavy cargo / long haul? is it even possible? I mean I think it's possible in theory but are there any tricks doing it in real life? (if you have such experience)
I have no real life experience backing doubles or triples. I've seen it done, but's not really straight and can only do it for a few yards before it gets ugly. You should never get into a situation where backing is your only option in doubles or triples. Euro doubles are a bit different and I watched a video of someone backing them up.
@@Myotradventure yeah that's what I thought, thanks for confirming! I got into such situations sometimes where I couldn't turn and couldn't back off so I needed to reload an earlier save. would be a real pain in the ass to get into this situation in the real world
Does this actually help to learn real world straight backing. I am in CDL school for 1 hr solo sessions and am being abused/yelled at and all as I keep screwing up. It's making me fear going back I'm not even going to lie.
I think it can help. If I recall correctly, I talk through it as if I was doing it in real life because that's where I learned it. Try following the instruction in this video, or others that you find on the subject, to fine tune your skills and build your confidence.
@@Myotradventure can I get some advie on this game.. in real life I noticed the trailer we use at school turns more frequently while backing up.. is there a way in this game to change settings to where trailer when backing gets out of wack more often when corrected
@@hatersgotohell627 it sound like you've got a shorter trailer at school. The shorter the wheel base, the quicker the trailer will get out of alignment. See if you can find out the length of the trailer at school; if it's not a 53 foot trailer, it's likely a 48 or even 40 foot trailer. When you find out what it is, get a trailer of similar length in the game and practice with that.
off side is a pig to reverse , even for me an ex truck driver ,but there,s no rush to reversing the trailer , its just some of the stupid place,s we have to deliver to in game and real life . i personal think the designer,s of shop,s factories etc , think a truck can go into anyspace a car or van can , maybe there should try and see it from are side , and space thats the most important thing deports clogged up don,t help , or stupid unloading area,s
I completely agree. I have been to so many places where you have to wonder what the architect was thinking. I know some places, especially on the east coast, were built before trailers grew beyond 40 feet long. Some of the newest distribution centers are great; lots of room to move around and pull up, etc.

Thanks Frozen Apocalypse Gaming! You're in luck; just finished recording the next one. If I can get it edited tonight it'll be ready in the morning!
