I purchased a table cloth a while ago that has a deep Battenburg lace boarder on two sides and I plan on making a petticoat/skirt like this one so this video is very timely and affirming that what I plan is actually doable. I also have a bed skirt we don't use on our bed that I might just turn into another petticoat as I figure quite a few time periods need more than one petticoat.
I what a crown now. I already have a white petticoat and a pink petticoat. It's winter down in New Zealand, but I will think of wearing them as skirts in summer. Oh my red summer silk skirt would be a great winter petticoat, so many great ideas.

I wonder how it would look if you just created a seam instead of cutting the ruffle off and then had that be the back seam. 🤔 I imagine it being like a bustle, but I wonder if it would really work like that?
Sadly all the bed skirts I got recently had the none ruffle part made of that fake fabric they make reusable shopping bags out of. Great petticoat! And lovely reveal.

(OH, SO MANY JOKES about how exhausting making/ watching this skirt is, perfect outfit for the Queen of The Night, jokes about how the skirt looks tired ... help, I'm not done!!!) All kidding aside, Just the fact that one would not have to cut and ruffle a ruffle! BRILLIANT!!!
HELP!! When I pulled the first side, the threads SNAPPED! I kinda freaked, but decided to do the other side and it went perfect. The first side also had problems with the stitches being uneven. So 1. Why would my stitches be different lengths? 2. Could that be the speed with which my machine is going? and finally 3. When I resew these two lines, do I need to move the lines so they are not in the old holes, or does it not matter?
Oh my goodness, amazing timing!! I have to make a petticoat to go over a hoop skirt for a ball gown I just made, and this should be perfect! Can't wait to go to the thrift store now :D
Found some 100% cotton sheets with a ruffle that im gonna use for a petticoat. This video is definitely going to help. This may be a stupid question. Do I need to iron it before I start cutting?
Most beds are 75-80 inches from head to foot ends. Daisy used the long edges, so depending how much she cut off the ends, the width of the fabric (how far around the hem goes) is approximately 70-75 inches x2 pieces. Then depending how tall you are, a twin or queen size is probably enough, since the bed skirt ruffles adds quite a bit of length.
Don't ask me how I know this - but - a second-hand Battenberg lace valance also works. Battenberg looks good with gingham.

I got a few saved for both the under garments(white/cream) and part of the bodice(fashion fabric/ some kind of velvet nonsense)
