Several others have made this point, but it's worth repeating. For stock owners who live in the United States, this kind of on-the-ground research is key. I'm not a fan of investing in companies because they're popular with other investors and therefore can yield short-term gains (that's gambling.) I prefer to know a company, its vision, the CEO's capabilities, and whether or not it can achieve that vision, every step of the way. At the moment, it's difficult for us here to know Nio's product and the responses of their customers, and so your work is crucial. Thank you for that!
Nio stock owner here from Canada. This month was very volatile and their stock went down as they diluted their shares. Watching him sharing his experience about Nio and their service and their lifestyle marketing strategy like Apple made me more confident to hold for long term and thinking about buy more their shares to dollar cost average. I'm an American ex-pat living in China (PRD). Let me know if you'd like to drive my ES6 and give your audience your own review of it! David's insights are well articulated, and you're a good interviewer, too! You asked smart questions and gave David the space to answer thoughtfully. While there are at least a couple "unique" factors bolstering Nio's growth within China itself, I think that Nio's overall product/technology/approach can be easily transplanted to other regions currently suitable for EVs in terms of climate, terrain, and infrastructure. Regulatory conditions constitute most of the remaining challenges Nio would face in executing a theoretical expansion into the export market, but frankly China's domestic market is so massive that Nio doesn't need to leave the country. President Xi's announcement this past week proclaiming an ambitious fossil fuel emission reduction essentially lays the groundwork for a massive mobilization of EVs in the coming years. I used to work with TQEV and CATARC in the early 2000s, light years ago, and all I can say is that when China [finally] decides to do something big, they do it BIG. Full disclosure, I've been long Nio for the past 20 months, DCAing every week.
That would be really cool to get your thoughts as an American. Probably would have a slightly different perspective from these two guys I interviewed. Whereabouts you located? Also Shenzhen? Feel free to add me on WeChat 15502132233
