Dr. John, thank U so much for clearing stigmas on homosexuality. The most important is, you let us rethinking our previous cognition and put empathy with every type of people.
Your speech is marvelous. LOVE IS EQUAL.

I sit here in my room distressed, frustrated and on the verge of tears. I see my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ mistreat, ignore, and hate the homosexuals, and in doing so they sin. I hope I could tell every single one of them "STOP! Jesus has called us to love EVERYONE, and by hating homosexuals you are sinning!" I hope we would treat everyone with compassion and love (something I struggle with...) the way God intended it to be. I hope we would see that we commit sins every hour, yet God still shows us grace, mercy and compassion, and just because someones sin looks different doesn't make it any worse than ours. And I hope we would truly shine the light of the Lord in this dark world.
On the other side, I see the world begin to spread the lie that being homosexual isn't a sin. I pray that that those who struggle with homosexuality would see that acting upon their temptations is sinful, just as a man who acts upon heterosexual temptations. Acting upon homosexual tendencies, is as a thieve acting upon his desire to steal, or a liar acting upon his habitual lying. No better, no worse. The frustration I feel at hearing the faulty (sometimes asinine) arguments for or against homosexuality, is painful. "Homosexuality is a danger to the nation's infrastructure", "The parts don't fit", "Animals don't do it", all these asinine arguments against homosexuality are illogical, and desperate. I know homosexuality is a sin because God exclaimed it, as Mr. Corvino quoted, in the Bible. Now, yes, a handful of the laws God set for his people in Leviticus, and other OT books are no longer required or followed, but have you noticed that all these laws were either for the safety of the people at the time, or ceremonial? All of the moral laws that God set in the OT still hold to this day (10 commandments, no bestiality, no homosexuality etc.). The ceremonial laws are laws set by God to his people according to the time, place, and situations they were at. As we all know time, places and situations change, therefor so do the ceremonial laws, but God is changeless and since God's moral laws stem directly from his unchanging nature they are also changeless. Also please understand that slavery back then was COMPLETELY different (I would go deeper, but I will let those who are interested to know what slavery was like back then research for themselves), so when he made the argument that slavery was accepted back in those days, which is true, it was viewed in the wrong light.
In conclusion, I would like to apologize to the homosexual community for how we Christians have handled the situation. But it pains me deeply that the world is starting to believe that homosexuality is acceptable, and even supporting it's growth. Yes. love everyone, help everyone, have compassion for everyone, put everyone before you, but don't take sin, and try to make it right, and acceptable.
    Godspeed
    Love, Jason

I absolutely respect and love that we agree on interacting with people with compassion and we should show love and respect for others. I admire you and your response but want to say homosexuality isn't about the sex, and the tendencies are malarkey. Of course, straight and gay people find themselves attracted to people, and thats ok. Its not ok to sleep around, and there is a logical case against it. But one thing you are forgetting is that what I feel towards another man isn't about the sex, I could care less about the sex. It's about falling in love with someone that enhances me and makes every day worth living. Its about committing to the one person who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Its about freedom and equality and letting people thrive on their own with the love and support of their peers. Its about creating human connections and fostering love and support for one another. its about human rights and treating people decently. Its about us, as a species growing together and uniting in our common values. Its about life and laughter and random vacations. Its about game night and movie night and taco tuesday. Its about those random nights on the beach where you're sitting on the lifeguard stand with the love of your life looking out into the ocean and wondering about what is ahead. Its about chasing your partner around the house with a water gun like a bunch of four year olds. Gay people deserve all of that, the chance to fall in love and raise a family and foster human connections. I understand your concern, but please stop making it about the sex, because in the scheme of things, the sex is so irrelevant. Our souls need love and nurture and laughter, and we all get that through the love of our life, our partner in crime you may say, and no matter what you're sexual orientation is, we all have someone out there, its up to you to find them.

Juice Religious argument that same-sex marriage and attraction isn’t a sin.
*NOT secular or based on science or facts.*
      Old Testament
      *Genesis 19
-Gang rape/hostility to strangers/lustful in nature
The men from the city were already aggressive (didn’t treat them very well) even after Abraham’s and Sarah’s hospitality was shown, the city didn’t like strangers and that could show accounts of narcissism and be disgraceful. Even historically speaking there were accounts of rapes for criminals and those deemed “immoral” ironically enough as in the ancient world it was seen as a cleansing of shorts and putting people “in their place” such as slaves, women, criminals, etc. I believe in Judges 19:22 it brings up the city of Sodom and after that verse, it explains how they horrifically raped him and possibly wanted to kill him. As for gang rape itself, it’s stated in Judges, not Genesis but hostility is referenced directly. According to the Torah, the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah were allied with the cities of Admah, Zeboim, and Bela. These five cities were situated on the Jordan River plain in the southern region of the land of Canaan. Maps and scribes showed that trade routes were also redirected around the city constantly as they didn’t allow messengers and traders to stop and rest.
      *Leviticus 18:22
      *Leviticus 20:13
-Abomination also included: Sex during a woman’s menstrual cycle, eating pork, rabbit, shellfish, and charging interest on loans.
      ^
      ||
-Part of the Old Testament Law Code which fulfilled by Jesus--Hebrews 8:13:”The old law is obsolete and aging.” This was never reiterated by Jesus therefore it was meant for the Israelites thousands of years ago.
      New Testament
      *Romans 1:26-27
-Description based solely off of excess and lust not committed, loving, caring , faithful, and monogamous relationships.
(Long hair [for men] was also “unnatural” and “against nature”.-Not based off any science for even back then. This was Paul’s opinion and not a statement from God. This was the social landscape at the time for freeborn men...
      -Dominant/active NOT passive
-Could have sex with anyone below you in status( so long as it didn’t affect their honor(adultery))
      This included
      -Your wife
      -Boys
      -Slaves
      -Prostitutes
      -Actors and bar staff
In the Judeo world they lived in penetration meant sex, meaning that lesbians were never having intercourse in the first place because of how they viewed sex. This passage speaks of idolatry NOT love.
      *Corinthians 6:9
-Culture talked about older married men (men) having sex with adolescent boy prostitutes (males); adultery and lust. The same was viewed upon masters and their slaves. Out of control lust-excess like, gluttony or drunkenness. (We changed “man” and “male” to “men” to make it an “easier translation”,but it lost its meaning from its original Greek vocabulary “malakoi” and “arsenokoitai”. Whether this was an accident or on purpose is yet to be known ,but looking at the Chathloic church we can deduce otherwise. Keep in mind sexuality wasn’t even a concept back then in that culture and society. It meant different things back in Roman culture which was just life based on sexual relations exchanged through patrticarchy to men who were already married, ussualy through payment and the desperation to survive for the adolescent boy prostitutes. Also, "arsen" in Greek means "man." Thus, it is most unlikely that "arsenokoitai" could refer to both male gays and lesbians. Various commentators have suggested that "arsenokoitai" means masturbators, pimps, prostitutes, boy sex slaves, male prostitutes, or abusive pedophiles.
      *1 Timothy 1:10
-Out of context and doesn’t apply to our current societal views on relationships. Talks about masters and slaves having sex and married men with adolesncent boy prostitutes. Repeat of Corinthians 6:9.
      Notes/Critical Thinking:
*1 Peter 4:8: “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (Used in context)
      The Adam and Eve discussion:
-People lived outside the Garden of Eden meaning it doesn’t say you NEED to have kids, they were created solely to live(maybe reproduce) in the Garden of Eden...doesn’t mean you can’t marry someone of the same-sex or that you have to have kids.
      Some things the Church fought:
The Church didn’t require consent for marriage if you were a woman or child.
The Church didn’t even bat an eye on child marriage if not encourage it.
Marriages where children weren’t made were considered sinful.
Marriage after a divorce that wasn’t based off of adultery from the mans perspective was considered sinful.
      Interracial marriages were considered sinful.
      Homosexual marriages were considered sinful.
Once the world progresses and the Church starts losing followers and money only THEN do they admit to cherry picking and changing scripture while yelling hate-filled, hypocritical, backwards, barbaric, and medieval rhetoric.
AND ZERO scricpture on the killing, torture, and/or hate of people in same-sex marriages or attractions. Hate in itself is also a sin. John 13:34-35 New International Version (NIV)
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (Unchanged translation)
What we can deduce is that lust is sinful. Everyone lusts since all it takes is even the act of imagning sexual acts not necessairly doing it. Lust and lustful sex is a sin which means you can also repent for it. In a nutshell a none-Christian and a Christian has to pray and repent. If you do believe it’s a sin then by the looks of it you’ll have to frown upon old couples loving each other, disabled people, or infertile people who love each other or have sex are also sodomites or sexuality impure. This is a religious argument not a secular one. For laws, especially in the West we use facts, science, and critical thinking. So there should be no reason why same-sex marriage should be illegal, criminal, or frowned upon under out current society and high level of thinking and philosophical capabilities. I’m pretty sure God didn’t create you the way you are just so hell doesn’t lack customers.

TheUndeniable No doubt you need to follow your own advice on "educating yourself."
Women do not produce testosterone, they produce estrogen. Testosterone is a male hormone.
And in the area of people i.e. children born with incomplete or indistinct sexual reproductive genitalia, that condition is not called homosexuality, that condition is called androgyny. That IS a physiological anomaly, not a sexual proclivity stemmed from behavior.

Over 200 books were submitted to the Council of Nicaea for consideration for the Bible, and the Council, headed by Constantine, put together a cohesive book to strengthen Christianity for one purpose: to unite Rome under one religious banner. Christians and pagans had been warring within the empire, so Constantine decided to side with the rise of Christianity.

Consider also that the word "eunuch" is used three times in the verse, which suggests three kinds of men who are given to not marry. The first two usages were already familiar to the disciples.Jesus mentions those who are eunuchs from birth that is,they were either incapable of marriage because of physical deformity which prohibited having children or have no desire to marry.

"Judging would be me saying homosexuals deserve to die . . . "
No, judging would be saying "thing X is wrong."
You're get confused between "judging" and "condemning". People judge each other all the time; it's how we form our opinions about everything.
"I just do not agree with their way of life."
And that's you judging that way of life. I have no problem with how two consenting adults choose to conduct their affairs, and that's me judging them too.

"And for Homosexuals it's really not about marriage or equal rights. It's about slapping all Christians in the face by saying I don't have to respect anything about you."
    Actually, no it is not.
It's the fact that people use their religion to despise and hate that we do not respect.
My grandmother was a deeply devout Catholic, yet I have not seen a single reason to hate her. In fact, I loved her as her entire family did.
The Phelps and the WBC on the other hand is another story.

The thing with this guy is, hes very articulate and carefull with the words he uses. Most straight people are fine with homosexuality, as long as they don't have its graphic details rubbed in their face, like some gay rights extremists like to do. Maybe the population will be de-sensitized in a generation or two, but we're not ready for it now, and attempts to hurry this process along will result in a defensive reaction from the mainstream straight community.

Nearly all "temporary explanations" are merely building blocks on the way to truth. Blackbody radiation is an excellent example of this...its power spectrum (intensity v. wavelength) was originally classically approximated with the Rayleigh-Jeans law...which is accurate for large wavelengths only, but this was only discovered later using quantum theory. Max Planck didn't overhaul the theory...he merely corrected it.

When I talk about rational thought, I mean thought based on tangible data, trial and error, and logic patterns. There is no logic in assuming a higher power exists. There is no logic in believing something because you read a single passage in an ancient book. There is no logic in believing something because some person told you once. These things are in the realm of possibility, but far outside the realm of reason.

Women with gay sons appeared to have an extreme skewing of X-inactivation of the x-chromosome. So, there is evidence of a correlation between sexual orientation and traits that are determined in utero as well as genetic. A study found the people undergoing these therapies never got rid of their attractions, they simply change the way they self identify. Also telling that nearly

    @Funkifizzle About your points
    A) First, just because you put two possibilities does not inherently require them to be divided into two equally probable explanations.
Second, to say that you cannot disprove something is not an effective argument for YOUR religion, because it works for EVERY other religion. That, and it's (NEAR) impossible to prove a negative.
    B) Occam's Razor, the scientific method of choosing between two possible answers based on fewest assumptions made, debunks a creator.

None of them, including a few other works I consulted, remotely suggested "homosexual" could be an alternative definition. In addition to the idea of a castrated harem guard, the word eunuch did expand in meaning to include high court officials who held prominent positions in a royal court, but may not necessarily be castrated. Again, none of these works implied the word could be used to describe a person disposed to homosexual persuasion. This is something of a novel, modern invention.

The Constitution doesn't put "morals" into writing. It puts rights into writing. A very important distinction. In this way, rather than defining what people CAN'T do, it defines what people CAN do, which is "your right to swing your fist stops at the end of my nose." (Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes).
I was mostly talking about the Bible when talking about power and control...it was, after all, created by an Emperor and a council and then kept out of public hands for years.

You can't operate under the assumption that any religious text is correct and expect other people to take you seriously. There's no problem with following those texts (violence pending), but don't expect to convince anyone with a "I'm right and these other religions are wrong" attitude. You're proving Voltaire's point.

@xothegirlz Before you call me a homophobe, read Thomas Schmidt's, Straight and Narrow. Quote from the book, " The number of homosexual men who experience anything like lifelong fidelity becomes, statistically speaking, almost meaningless. Promiscuity among homosexual men is not a mere stereotype, and it is not merely the majority experience-it is virtually the only experience. Lifelong faithfulness is almost non-existent in the homosexual experience."

I apologize for painting you as a Christian if you aren't. I didn't mean to accuse you of actually making the claim that a god exists so much as reminding what claims require, that their is something of a flaw in the "first cause" argument by saying that something cannot come from nothing(SCCFN), then turning around and saying that there had to be something first, though. That would just push the question of origin up a level without really solving anything.
