This is giving PTSD when 4KidsTV changed a bunch of things in the One Piece anime.

The 4kids aruff actually kinda made sense, tho. Yeah, it was cringe, but it was trying to adapt shows for teens and young adults into something that kids could watch when they came home from school (at least that was the timeslot in the UK). They edited out the blood and guns to get past the censors in the early and mid-2000s -- a time when most people either didn't know what anime was or if they did, equated it to the ultra violent OVAs from the 90s.
The dragon maid shit is just changes for their own self gratification. It isn't the 2000s anymore. Anime is world renowned as a vast and varied medium of entertainment. Most kids don't even watch TV anymore. If they do watch anything not produced in some dude/chick's newsroom, it's on services like Crunchyroll or Funimation (when it was still a thing).
All that aside. Dragon Maid fans aren't children. Yet Jamie and her ilk continue to try to treat them that way.

When I saw the clip when she insulted a bunch of people at a panel in an convention for anime fans mind you, I had one thing to say about this. Sort of expected this stuff to resurface. It's because of people like Jamie that I don't care about watching modern dubs, I'd rather watch subbed anime. Plus, I still remember her being unhinged during the Vic Mignogna stuff. Overall, it does seem like things are turning around. WOTC is getting called out for their stupidity, Disney's failing thanks to their nonsense, and now the English localizers are getting called out and potentially fired and replaced with AI. It does seem like the activists are starting to finally lose. Yeah, they were winning for awhile, but now, things are starting to turn around. Although, I do think Vic should just open up his own dubbing house and separate from Anime Matsuri due to the owners either getting involved or are complicit in sexual assault.
Went to a con long before all that Vic stuff happened. Vic's line was obviously packed and there was hardly anybody standing in line for Jamie.

Unfortunately, I don't have a wide enough social circle to spread the word very far. Most of the people I talk to are already in our corner and actively follow this stuff. And I sure as hell won't be getting on social media. I get enough exposure to that crap through videos like this as it is. I have to endure this filtered cringe to keep up to date with the stuff I care about.

It’s weird how Jamie acknowledges Asmongold, but she doesn’t acknowledge Rev says desu who is the reason why people are talking about anime localizations, and also I don’t mean an disrespect to Asmongold, I just find it weird how Jamie Marchi doesn’t acknowledge the guy Asmongold is reacting to in his videos/streams.
Upon looking at the thumbnail, I noticed that you have Aki Hinata from Sgt. Frog among several of her characters. I gotta admit that I have a soft spot for that series’ dub mainly because of people like Todd Haberkorn as Keroro and Cherami Leigh as Natsumi. Then again, this was back when Funimation dubs regularly have these VAs along with others like, say, Laura Bailey.
Additionally, I was looking forward to attending this year’s StocktonCon until I noticed that Jamie’s among one of the guests, which made me want to ask myself, “Just why?”
When I see Todd Haberkorn’s name, it reminds me of the time that the mentally unhealthy who went after Vic, tried to go after Todd for being Vic’s friend, they failed miserably. I also remember the time Monica tried to claim she didn’t have Todd kicked off a panel that he was meant to be in which she was also involved with. She tried to claim that Todd was only contracted to one panel a day at that convention and said that he had done his one panel that day, it was then revealed that the only panel he had that day was the one he was meant to do with Monica. She was exposed and people now knew she had him maliciously kicked off because she “ didn’t feel safe” with him on the panel.

Im a native English speaker but I have over 3000+ hours of language study/acquisition in Japanese and operate at a near fluent level in speaking, with the ability to adapt to new terms and convey proper nuance from Japanese to English. I honestly beyond shocked at the liberties these pathetic people have in the localization process. Its utterly wild beyond belief. Like... Even down to things like Vegeta in DBZ killing Cui and saying 汚い花火 (dirty fireworks) and somehow in English on its uncut dub, he goes "See you in Hell, Cui".
A big reason why I learned Japanese was to be able to consume old RPG games and Anime in the target language and im surprised at how good some translations are. One of mt favorite English dubs in general was the 2003/2004 Gungrave English dub. I'd even argue that it sounds better than the Japanese original and still maintains great accuracy.
Gungrave is a minority case in a large see of problems that I cannot believe is allowed to continually happen regarding localization.

They act like we need them, lol. Not only can we use ai to translate, but the community has shown that we are able to translate it without them. Granted as you said, anyone in the 90s that grew up with anime knows perfectly well how to get anime and translations without these cackling hens.
That said, fans should just boycott anything these women are involved in, and ignore their existence. Watch subs, work as a community, and bar these women from said community. Its time to goalkeep the things we love and enjoy, entertainment in itself has been hijacked by overlying privileged people that are not fans of any of these properties. They just get payed to mock and belittle it, and any company involved in such things should be boycotted. If they dont respect us, and are fandom, we wont respect them, or even acknowledge their exists.
