This worked perfectly for me!!!! Thank you so much!!!!! I have this exact model and followed you step by step and just like that! Fixed! I’ve been on this all day thinking the pump was bad so I took everything from the bottom and check entire pump for something maybe stuck but nope, it was indeed the lid lock switch, but I replaced the harness as well! Homeownership is teaching me soooo much! You guys are awesome!
Thank you guys for making this simple video to fix an issue that is now outside of warranty. I bought a Hotpoint brand new 2 years ago and within 6 months I had this issue. They came out, fixed llid switch and with another 6-8 months they had to come out again. This time I did it myself with the guidance of your video and a little help from my grandson and it seems to be running fine now!
Thank you very much. Instructions were spot on and covered every question or situation. Very much appreciate you sharing your knowledge and expertise and for saving this disabled vet a lot of money I don’t have.
Dude, you saved my life. I got so pissed off because this thing won’t unlock for about 55 minutes after you press pause!!!!! I just ripped the fuckin lid all the way up, and it broke the mechanism! But I fixed it for $60. Thanks for your video. They wanted $350 to come out and fix this thing.
My washer Model # - HTW240ASK6WS; My moveable lid lock part broke from actually locking the washer lid. By purchasing the lid lock would that get me back running?
Do you have this for model#GTW465ASNWW My problem is that the lid locks every time the lid is shut and can’t be opened once shut without prying a knife in.
If it locks before your start a cycle, you got problems with the board, timer comms. If it's after you start a cycle, Read your instruction manual! Most of these lock failures are caused by the user by trying to use force.
If the wires are fine, why go thru that? It can be accessed from the top without removing it. Pop the cover off the top, unplug and slide it out like you showed. Is there a specific reason to replace the wires if they test good?
HELP! What's wrong when you followed the instrument & the washer worked for about four days.... Now it washes two loads, and it starts back doing the same thing it was doing before I replaced the lid switch.... I replaced the whole harness & all. It's like it gets tired & quite till the next day.
Why would you want to replace it? It's the stupidest thing ever. My wife hates it. Since researching, I've realized that the computer checks that it is locked and won't run without it. I'm going to remove both the strike and lock and put them together as if the door was closed and attach the whole contraption somewhere else in the back of the machine besides the door. "Will you lock this strike in holy matrimony forever and ever until the end of time?" Any advice on if this will work would be great (I'll probably get it done before a response).

Great video. Just installed mine. Thanks!
Can the part be ordered through you or do you have somewhere you recommend?
Thanks you save me ❤
Hi, having one old model WWA8172 / 3 H from all cable have been cut by Rats. Have replaced them remaining the lid wire, where do they go from lid....
Where can I order the part?
Just finished and when I plugged my washer back in, it won’t turn on
Could this be the reason for my machine not agitating? The switch under the lid does not look to be broken at all.
