- Tumbili is the new-for-2022 S&S free spin at Kings Dominion. Replacing the former Crypt top spin, this 4th dimension coaster is the headliner in the reimagined Jungle X-Pedition area. While this isn't the Volcano replacement, it does offer a unique experience to the park's other attractions. However, is it the world's worst free spin? This review discusses both the ride itself and the themed area.

As someone who hates freespins because the raven turns often lead to me being upside-down in the valley of the drop, I think I might enjoy Tumbili since those drops are trimmed and it seems to make the ride more comfortable

Gotten many rides on this here. I have hated all the other free spins but for some reason, Tumbili is actually great! The front side flips at an insane rate while the back side seats towards the wall are more gradual. It also doesn't kill my groin. It's a solid for me.

Yes! For whatever reason, the front row seat on the right side will sometimes flip you nonstop after you flip under the first section. My friend and I rode it first thing in the morning, as my first ride on it, and we got like 7 flips on it. I felt the blood rush to my head. We nicknamed it the "Washing machine seat"

When I realized it was an even shorter layout than what Six Flags has that's when I came to terms with the fact they hate Kings Dominion 😂
It's better than the flat ride that once stood there.
Considering how great the lineup is relative to the crowds, I'm fine if they never add anything else.

My visits to Kings Dominion were before Tumbili opened. Not to mention, I hate this type of coaster. I've had the misfortune to ride one of them in Joker at Six Flags Great Adventure, and it was one of the worst coasters I've ever ridden. This review surely made me aware of what I should when go to Kings Dominion the next time. Thanks.
No problem. I still enjoy the ride, but it has two flaws the other free spins don't.
Still never ridden a free spin, but I appreciate the presentation of this one over most of the rest from the view of my computer screen
The ride works well in its area.
Often i find that on the larger free spin models at the Six Flags parks you get a great stomach dropping sensation if you’re seat is upright on that first raven drop, it feels like a mini drop tower in a way. The smaller models like this one has trims on the drops so it doesn’t look as intense.
Dragon Slayer looks to compensate with more flipping on the wild side at least.
I can take or leave the S&S free spins. I don't dislike them, but they don't really do much for me. I've only done the ones at Six Flags parks, but I'm lucky if I get 2 flips on those. On half my rides, I get 0 flips, just a bunch of rocking back & forth. If you're getting 3 on this one, that sounds like the best of them all to me.
I always get a handful of flips. The magnets using cause 2 minimum for me.
I haven't experienced Tumbili, but I have been on a couple S&S Freespins, and I like them.

My home park is KD and this was my first Free Spin, so I got 5 rides to get a good feel for it. I actually enjoyed the spinning. I can't personally compare it to any other Free Spins, but from what I heard this has about the same amount of spins as the larger models, but in a shorter ride time, I got 1 - 3 flips on all my rides, which matches what I heard about the larger free spins. Also people who are saying KD cheaped out by getting the smaller version should realize that the larger model literally wouldn't even fit in that plot of land, and the size of this specific coaster model doesn't affect its appeal to the GP, so why wouldn't they go for the cheaper version.
Those last points are fair, but the capacity is hurt by the smaller one.
@@CanobieCoaster Yeah well at least the corse is short enough, so that they won't be waiting for an other train to enter the station. I heard that was an issue on Iron Gwazi. But yeah, the capacity does suck.
Fun Fact, did you know that the safety spiel for this ride and the others in Jungle X-Pedition were all recorded by Alicia Stella, host of the RUclips Channel Theme Park Stop? How would you feel if you were asked to do something similar someday?

I think it would be good if canada's wonderland got a ride like this and I think it should replace xtreme skyflyer since xtreme skyflyer has very low capacity because of it being a separate fee attraction and some people find the ride scary
It may be ok with the larger ones like the Six Flags ones.
I absolutely love the supports honestly. I didn't know about the capacity though, that seems pretty unfortunate.
I wish they got the larger model purely because of capacity.
Dragon slayer at Adventureland was the first small version and i still think its better then Tumbili. Some coaster enthusiast liked Dragon Slayer over the joker at six flags

That would be a nightmare given their crowds. The larger one would be a must there.

Kd is my homepark. Havent been there yet this year but I preferred Crypt to the SF Freespins Ive ridden

It’s a shame that Tumbili and Jungle X-Pedition was the only addition that Cedar Fair did for 2022. The only other “ride” was a scrambler for CGA. Hoping Cedar Fair will change how they do additions in the near future
If the rumors about Knott's are true, they'll have a big coaster coming next year.
I think for the benefit for everyone volcan'o replacement should be a clone or at least volcano themed
I'd love if they honored that ride in some way.
I'm not the most fond of 4D free spins but it does look good in the skyline of the park, like REALLY good. I'll give it that. It's also not a bad ride either, just not my fav.

What do you think the great Volcano replacement will be? I think the most popular theory is a B&M Wing, but anyone else have any other ideas?

My wife and I got to the final break run, looked to each other, and said "That's it?" Definitely our least favorite Free Spin.
I'm not sure if I'll try this one again since I have Joker at SFNE with shorter waits and a better ride experience.

Personally I am not a huge fan of renaming the Safari Village area. That was the original name for the land when it first opened and that was the whole reason they renamed to that for their 40th anniversary.
I like the theming that was added. I'm indifferent to the name change.
The name is irrelevant when they knocked the retheme out of the park.
Can we get a Intimdator and Flight Of Fear retheme for the new Jungle Expidition
Or a new area for those 2 rides.
I can not forgive parks for installing such low capacity coasters, this ride will always have an hour wait for a 20 second ride, it’s just insulting to park guests
The ones at Six Flags usually have manageable waits, but they have double the vehicles.

How intense is joker at six flags New Jersey compared to this ?
Joker is faster and I've gotten better flips on that one.

This was the weakest one for me too. Only got one flip on the “stronger” side and the trims hit really hard. I think the area looks good but the ride itself is kind of a reflection of how low of importance CF places on KD.
They have 2 world-class coasters and have gotten steady investment, so I don't think Cedar Fair hates them by any means.

@@williamjones9707 Michigan's Adventure's attendance hasn't been cut in half in the past two decades like KD's has.
I live these free spins but there terrible capacity makes me not want to ride them that often.

@@CanobieCoaster they could I think is the best answer to this. It is another example of flash pass getting in the way. I have only ridden the one at Great America. One side is flash pass and the other side is regular. Even when the line is manageable it takes about 45 minutes. It’s a grueling 45. Since it crawls. A big line that moves fast is always preferable to a small one that crawls. I know it shouldn’t matter, but it does.

I agree with you on Tumbili. It was the weakest for me, but I appreciate it as an intro level free spin or a way for people to build up to the more intense FS. I'll see you at the Pantheon review!
I have literally sympathy for anyone that has intimidator 305 at their home park when someone’s home park is Michigan’s adventure

This defiantly looks like the worst free spin cause I mean its obvious, all the free spins have the same layout besides this one which is shorter. I enjoy free spins for what they and they are pretty fun but seem to be over kinda quickly. I don't know why a park would want to go with an even smaller one. I get they didn't have the space for a normal one but if you going to go this short, you almost might as well of just gotten something else.
It's still an ok ride minus the capacity.
