for me, its worrying because there are so many things you don't think of before making the head, such as were the fur is supposed to be long, exactly how short is too short, what are you supposed to do when you make it too short? redo it? *the color scheme* , *why is the fur so baggy after I sew it together*
I'm always worried about shaving it too short, I've had the backing show a few times and I dont know how to decide what length is good without making it too short
I’m super late, but have you come across any tutorials for this 😭 my shaver’s on the cheaper end (at least compared to the ones in this vid) and i just doesn’t shave my fur lol
as someone who currently owns a fursuit head (walmart sells those goofy fox fursuit heads, if you just shave and remodel it, it'll look good as new and it's really good for those who can't afford a expensive fursuit). I been looking for tutorials on how to style it and all, since I plan on actually creating a entire character out of it, so these tutorials are actually really useful.
Thank you! All of the other clippers are just WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! If I was going to be doing this as my professional job, I would definitely use much more expensive clippers. As it is a one-time project for me, I would be better off with less expensive clippers, so I am glad Wahl is working out ok with you. I might as well use it too! :3 \\_// ( 'u' ) (>
OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I just got my new clippers and I’m currently working on another fursuit! This tutorial came just at the right time! Thanks so much! Because this will be my first time shaving fur with a clipper and I’m kinda nervous
@@Kaleidoscopal I got a classic pet grooming Oister It’s not too expensive, but works perfectly fine for me I unfortunately can’t remember the exact product code or name
I only have this cheap $13 pair of clippers, so I just use em to pre-shave before I sew it together/glue it onto the head and then use scissors to make it neat after I’ve glued it down. Not sure if I should work on perfecting this method or just save up for some nice clippers though. Thanks for the video because I’ll definitely consider these clippers if I do decide to buy some! ^^ (Also your suits are so amazing!😍)
i also just thought of something, not sure if it would work but here it is anyway: if you were shaving fur that's already on a head for the first time and dont want to shave it wrong you could practise putting the blades around the head as if you were shaving it but not having it turned on, then you could turn it on once you feel comfortable and that you could do it or also shave the fur before you put it on the head, too
Lol I'm doing my first fursuit. When I saw the price of this hair shaving machine I was shocked. So I decided; my budget is scissors 🤣. I took a small piece of wool and tried to cut it evenly with scissors. It didn't turn out perfect but it was still very beautiful 😅 ( lol 1 hour on small piece)
@@MugiwaraCosplay 🤷 that's ok, just a thought. I'm one of those crazy "let's re-use everything possible!" So I use it for these things😁 edit: wait... Isn't some faux fur made from the same material as pillow stuffing? Polyester right?
@@toxathedog3873 I know this comment is a month old but PLEASE DON'T USE SCISSORS, there's some clippers out there for 20-50 (usd, not 100% sure what that would look like in pounds), especially for your first time scissors will just make it look uneven and sloppy
If you can cut it to a medium length you can clean it up with scissors/shears. I did that for my muzzle and it turned out pretty great! Hope that helps
I personally prefer shaving before sewing because it can make the fur a lot easier to deal with and the fur doesn't get stuck in the seam as much, making for less obvious seam lines.
instead of using a clipper because they cost too much, can I use types of scissors suitable for cutting animal fur? Can the result be the same as the video?

Ather shaving:🦊
Lol
Why is it relatable I- 💀
Lol
YESSS
fr broo 💀
I think if I ever made a fursuit, shaving it would be my favorite part, it looks time consuming and satisfying
Its also scary 💀
for me, its worrying because there are so many things you don't think of before making the head, such as were the fur is supposed to be long, exactly how short is too short, what are you supposed to do when you make it too short? redo it? *the color scheme* , *why is the fur so baggy after I sew it together*
I find it rather tedious.. but having a good quality trimmer makes it less of a burden
As someone making a fursuit, it's both satisfying and a nightmare. Fur gets everywhere, and it's a nightmare to clean.
If I get to make my first suit that I want to make this is going to help a lot
I always get really scared at this part because the fur looks so weird and that I didn’t sew well lol. This helped a ton, thanks!
I'm always worried about shaving it too short, I've had the backing show a few times and I dont know how to decide what length is good without making it too short
I feel it would be good to maybe try some lengths on scrap fur and make down the length you like?
Hope this maybe helps
٩( ᐛ )و
Alora Bernal MDBluebird yeah! also to use a guard on the razor uwu
@@ariellegreenstone6165 what happens if I don't?
If you don’t use a guard, it could just shave ALL the fur off I’m pretty sure XD
Using a guard limits the amount that you are able to shave off, so it stops you from going shorter than a certain length
Lmao the most important thing is a good shaver because it’s now more efficient for me to hand cut the fur like it’s a persons hair than use my shaver
I’m super late, but have you come across any tutorials for this 😭 my shaver’s on the cheaper end (at least compared to the ones in this vid) and i just doesn’t shave my fur lol

Hah meee
Me lol
Nope I watched it while making a suit
I wish but I’m working on my 3 fursuit so I need this again lol

Love how I get a shaving commercial before this, nice tutorial!
Watching fur shaving is so satisfying. Thanks for this video, I might try out this technique on my upcoming commission 😎
This was so helpful! Apparently my dumb ass was holding the clippers wrong and that’s why I couldn’t get it as short as I wanted

Thank you so much mugiwara!!! Been looking for ages for the perfect shaving fur tutorial🙏 bless you

Uhhh ur like 200th comment. No offense
This is so helpful thank you!! I just got a fursuit that needs fixing like shaving it down better!
I found when making fur on the cheeks especially with foxes to lift the clippers up the closer you get.
I love how it looks like the razor is eating the fur.
I’m finishing cutting out the pattern and sewing today on my first fursuit so I really hope my dad lets me use his beard clippers 😅😅
Please don't use human hair clippers, they are not made to handle fur
Please do a tutorial on lining eyes! The only on I can find is one on amino but it doesn’t really “define” the eyes as much as I would like it to

I love your stuff, Mugiwara Cosplay.

I already do that, I publish at least one video every week
I love the background music 👍
You could also use the shaved fur as stuffing for claws, horns paws or anything else, it could save quite a bit of money and wasted material. ;D
I don't really want to do that since it's not the same at all compared to pillow stuffing

That caramel colored fur? Where is it from and full name!!?! 😱😱😍😍
You are so talented 😭
"A cheap clipper can't handle fake fur" yeah but I can't handle a good one because of money 😢
No "size" blade guard? I need to practice more, I can't seen to judge how short of a cut I'm without one on it. :/
I would test them out and see which length you like best. I usually like a slightly longer fur on my faces so I use the smallest guard or the one up.
This is a very useful tutorial thanks for making it 👍
How??? You make it look so easy! 😢 I tried Shaving fur for the feet on my costume and it was so difficult.
When you shave how would you go about keeping a tiny bit of it longer but not in an awkward way? Sorta blend it a bit like chest fur
