If you're having difficulty with getting rid of the scissor trimmed lines or shaving weird spots, thinning shears are great! They allow you to feather out the trim so it's not a harsh line.
Thank you so much for this series! You've definitely inspired me to try and get into fursuiting myself, as it's always something I've been interested in but wasn't sure where to start.
I made my suit last year and she had a very funky shave. I didn't want to refurbish her so I just touched up the shave and she looks so so much better :D
Yeah, that is why. You should be okay, but don't do it too often. There's a thing called Groomer's Lung, and the fur particles are made of little bits of plastic so you don't want to breathe it in.
This is going to help me out a lot in the next few months when I make my Dutch angel dragon furry it's going to be worth it and thank you tons for sharing 😊
Hey Skye a quick question regarding gluing the hair tuft! Why did you glue it when you were going to ladder stitch it anyway? Are you using the glue to pin it in place to make sewing easier? Another question is: Do you have some up close pics of your suits? I'd love to see some clear interior, mouth and eye shots!
Not Skye but I’m a fursuit maker, gluing it down beforehand makes it far earlier to sew on since it’s hard to pin a big piece like that. Also gives it some extra strength
does anyone know how durable fursuits generally are? im especially concerned abt possibly being able to just rip off a certain feature thats just glued on, like the hair or tongue. thank you!
😄thanks so much for making this video its near my birthday and i am thankful for getting a tutorial i love your content also it would be cool if you made a video of reading nice coments😄
Question 1: what got u in to fursuit making? Question 2: do you go to cons? Question 3:how’d u come up with Skye’s design? (Sorry I don’t know how to spell her name:( ) 💕
Do you have any suggestions on how to best clean your workspace after shaving? I have a small studio area in my home, and i use it for art commissions too. Im just wondering how to best clean up all of those little fibers to prevent them from sneaking into other orders. Thank you!
wow, well done I was thinking, is it possible to apply some kind of lip gloss or nail polish onto the eye mesh in some way to give it a shine and make the eyes pop looking wet? Or would that extra layer "cake" on and obscure vision? Might be a way to make it stick onto the mesh and avoid the actual openings in the fabric. Or maybe there's some kind of lack spray already and mat eyes are just a preference.
@@nataliem5425 maybe if you elevated the mesh and blew strong air, computer duster can? compressed air, on it after using a lack spray or something that makes the fabric shine and look glossy wet the extra substance would be removed from the openings. I've seen plastic globes you place over the mesh but never really seen the actual mesh being shiny as it would give it extra life and pop more. maybe a tech worth looking into and experiment with. take care

I've got two questions, and they both relate back to the character I'll eventually be creating a fursuit of. Question One: Is it the same technique for making girl eyelashes as boy (I interpret the black felt around the eyes as being eyelashes, fairly subtle with cartoon boys and big and dramatic with cartoon girls)? Question Two: At what point in the build would you construct and add fangs? My character's going to have some pretty big fangs (and yet she's still charming...at least, I hope she is, anyway; I have yet to properly finish any drawing, plushie or model of her now that she's got those things in her mouth).
1) Same technique for eyelashes, just be careful cause they'll be a little more fragile so be sure to glue em well and use a thick stiffened felt to make sure they will be durable. 2) I personally do super big resin/3d printed teeth during the foam carve and plush teeth after furring + sewing liner to fur. They can really change the look of your character, so doing them after fur gives you more flexibility with the overall look.
Eyelashes can be hella stylized however ya want! I would follow the tutorial if ur unsure, but if you wa t examples of big stylized eyelashes, check out lazyjoy's suits! They might have the inspiration ur looking for! When cutting eyelashes, all ya have to do it make sure the inner bit fits around the eye, other than that, ho crazy!

Hey SkyeHigh! Is it ok I you use pre shaved / short fur? For example flat (non bubbled) minky? Because that is what I was gonna do with one of my fursuits and I'd like to know if it's ok.
Minky you have to be very careful to get your base baby butt smooth or else you will see ALL imperfections down to each tiny speck of misplaced glue or scissor stroke
“You don’t have to use a lot of glue, just enough, so that it stays there, and glue isn’t leaking out“ I did that, and had a customer pick up their order, physically, and then they proceeded to bitch and complain that it didn’t look glue down fully lol 🤣 just because it wasn’t drenched in glue like my 1.0 suit. She just saw less glue and thought less durability but really it was an improvement.
