I bought the CX-90 Turbo-S Premium 2 weeks ago and my mirrors do adjust when you use the memory buttons, it’s just not an option for all models. I think the touchscreen is a small dislike, but in my case, I don’t dislike it at all. I enabled the touchscreen for Apple CarPlay and it’s a hassle to use. The ease and ergonomics of the knob is preferable to me and more safe. I 💯 agree with the lack of storage though! That console leaves much to be desired and I can’t fit as much as I did with my 2017 CX-5. Barely anything at all! I noticed that you don’t have I-Stop on your CX-90. On my model, that is one thing I hate, and have to disable every time I turn the car on. It’s just annoying having the car turn off when you stop then have a lag when it starts again. I have a couple other dislikes, but definitely nothing big enough to make me regret my purchase!
So what I found out is it’s not an option for any PHEV models even the premium plus , another blunder for mazda imo. Why have a memory seat but not memory mirrors?
Everyone dislikes the lack of touchscreen but it's smart cause it's less distracting and longevity was thought of in cold climate like us in Canada. I like the dial.
Less distracting? How do you figure? Turn the wheel and follow the cursor along the screen with your eyes until you reach the icon that you want to click on (using Google maps or Waze) instead of just one look, one tap. Besides, touch is included for Android Auto/Carplay on higher trims, though. That's just nickel and diming on Mazda's part. Not including it in general, that's just a really dumb business decision in 2033. In this crazy market , I had put deposits on several vehicles, and this was the first to arrive. Given the choice, I wouldn't have purchased it based on this alone. Also, given the size of this vehicle, cargo capacity is atrocious, as is leg and shoulder room compared to anything else in it's size class. As soon as I can get my hands on the Grand Highlander, this one is being traded. Don't get me wrong, there are many things that I like about it, but I can't get past having my eyes on the screen following that stupid cursor around, and the lack of space.
@arkeo5467 Yeah, I agree with you on the nitpicks. The safety nannies are not as intrusive on mine. 10 and 2? Really? That would drive me nuts, too. Lots of people have suggested that Mazda uses the same central screen on all the trims but disables the touchscreen on lower trims. I do hope that that's the case and someone figures out how to hack that. I drive rentals on a semi regular basis, and have always quickly adapted to the car's infotainment system, as most are quite intuitive and all feature touchscreens. This one isn't well thought out.
I actually like the interface Mazda uses (and similar to Audi and some other German manufacturers). Once you get use to it, the rotary mouse like interface get to be muscle memory intuitive and is far safer. I use Apple CarPlay a lot and can use either interface with CarPlay, which is great to have the choice. Basically, I will use the touch screen while not moving but the Mazda interface when driving.
Dont think I've ever seen someone complain about HAVING a spare tire. Usually it's a dislike when cars don't have a spare tire. Just shows that this car is pretty damn good, we're nitpicking petty things. 😎
Out of my 5 current cars the only one that has a spare tire is my Bronco and it is on the outside and doesnt take up storage space. I like the creature comforts for my daily driver so once you have some of these things and dont it is a bigger deal than it seems 🤷♂
Never never never use a touch screen. FINGERPRINTS! My CX-90 recognizes my faces and adjusts steering wheel, mirrors and seat. Storage is amole with the rear console drawer.
The CX-90 PHEV even at highest trim lacks what I standard on Turbo S: * Memory for mirrors * full length illumination for tail light * body colored fender garnish instead of black. They decidedly left out equipment out from the table to keep Turbo S the top engine / trim.
Sounds like you should've gotten the fully loaded one...can't complain about what you don't have if you're not sitting in the top trim fully loaded. There's going to be things missing from all trims except for the top tier on any vehicle.
@geraldojohnson7314 only thing not included here is the touchscreen with top trim all the other items are all trims on PHEV. The reason I Included the touchscreen issue is because in todays world you get a touchscreen on a base honda civic so why should you need to opt for the highest trim level to get a half functioning touch screen...
Higher trim Mazda CX9 comes with face recognition, it will look at your face and adjust mirrors, seats, sound system settings like bass etc, also it comes with a much larger screen.
I don’t agree regarding the shifter. In my opinion it is sensible design, when driving rent a car you don’t immagine how many time I pass the R and finish directly into park. In this way is much more easy and fast to operate complex parking maneuvers. Same thing for spare tires, I really dislike having a kit and run flat tires are super expensive and compromise comfort
As for the shifter I too didn't like it at first but then I read about people who do three-point turns and have problems with accidentally slamming it into park with other types of shifters. So it begins to make sense this shifter will not cause you to have an accident if you're doing a 3-point turn.
Based on the negative comments about the Mazda CX-90 in this post, I wonder how the author was able to choose/purchase the CX-90? Among the negative points listed in this publication, one for me is the lack of storage around the console. If I ever buy the Mazda CX-90, it will be the base model in Canada, the GS or maybe wait for the CX-70 as I don't really need the third row. 🤔
I bought the PHEV GT (highest trim level available in Canada for the PHEV).A big disappointment for me is that you can't tell the vehicle to save the full electric range for later and drive it in regular hybrid mode. You can select EV mode to have it drive on battery alone, but if you select the Normal mode, it still defaults to full electric 90 plus percent of the time, including driving at highway speeds when you're depleting the battery quickly because the battery electric mode is less efficient at high speeds. Basically after charging the battery, He will always deplete the battery during the first part of your drive. Most plug-in hybrids give you the option to save that battery power until later.
I think you can trick it into gas only if you hit the battery save button next to the shifter, you will have to go into settings to set this to 100% then it will save the battery for later use. Still a big inconvenience.
@@premiumoctane93 Yes, I've done that, however, recharging the battery / keeping the battery charged using the engine likely increases fuel consumption.... Remember, the hybrid system is designed to regenerate a certain amount of power to keep it operating as a hybrid. If you ask the system to regenerate more power to keep the battery pack fully charged in addition to operating as a hybrid vehicle, it likely needs to work harder.
I would understand no spare tire on a car, but not on SUV/crossover. It would be so inconvenient going off road and having a flat and you don’t have a spare.
Do you regret your decision to trade in the Model Y for the CX-90? These things seem pretty minor for me. I think I would adapt to them over time fairly easily. How does your wireless charger work? I’ve heard some people complain about them. And how often are you having to fill up on gas?
I honestly do miss the Model Y. I am missing the storage space and Power on the Y. These 5 things on the CX90 are seriously annoying especially when none of those were issues on the Model Y. I am still on the original tank of gas with over 600 miles on the clock so far. (sitting at half a tank right now) The wireless charger is not very good it will work but I dont use it.
Our only complaint is no remote start on the key fob. This is 2025 and cars from 12:13 years ago had remote start on the key fob I don't understand why that feature is missing on a $60,000 car.
I have a 2021 Calligraphy right now, your lack of storage space is due to the online 6 and the transmission. I believe an ok trade off to get that dominate rear wheel drive. My counsel is very deep and seems to fill up with crap and I can never find anything anyway and the space under my council collects it also, mostly filled up with my wife’s stuff. I’m considering the cx90 this spring but want to see what the deal is going to be on the cx70 coming out late this year. I also have those plastic ledges under the door, their purpose is to keep that road dirt off of the body where your legs / pants would rub while getting in or out. Mine are at a little bit more of an angle but still collect dirt, which is kind of their purpose and it does work well so I have gotten into the habit of rinsing them off. The winter car wash I use seems to do a good job of that, must have some spray nozzles stregically placed for that reason.
1/ The design does not have a touch screen because we don’t want drivers to have accidents when touching the touch screen with their hands👍. 2/ The gearbox is just a habit. If you don’t accept it, don’t change the car! 3/ storage Do you want to put a long gun? ! You might as well install a cabinet in the car! 4/ Three Row Storage Do you want it to be flat enough to play poker? ! 🤣5/ Doors, your CX-90 is a Phve system ,mine is an Turbo 6 Premium Plus and there is no design like yours under the door, so my CX-90 does not have this problem!
There is a setting to activate the touch screen to be available with Apple, Android and All the Mazda Apps. The Car comes with this setting turned off, turn it on. The Apple and Android are Touch Screen either way
Not in the Premium trim unfortunately. You have to have the Premium Plus option to get the carplay touch screen option. The things mazda has done with this car are mind boggling.
Most folks can rattle off 5 things they disliked about every car they've ever owned. I just purchased the S Turbo and there are 5 things I don't like, but there are 15 things that I love!
the wireless charger actually fits a full size iphone....that is what that area is meant for....also I'm surprised you did not mention the storage in the side door pockets which are pretty decent.
@premiumoctane93 you never have to reach for anything... or look around the screen ... or hit a bump and your finger just misses what you wanted to hit.. the command wheel does it all. Having the volume know right there is great too. I know people are different. Hope you find something that suits you! I do like your cx90 though! Ha
Your Dislikes are my dislikes for the most part, but number one dislike for me is stupid captain's chairs in most trim levels. It should be optional for people who may like it. Looks like i will have to keep my 2022 CX-9 Grand touring.
When your previous car didnt have any of these dislikes it makes them more than minor to me. If you didnt have a touchscreen or memory seats/ mirrors in your previous car then it may not be as big of deal for you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. But it just shocked me that you could say the same thing to many other RWD platforms SUV (except that terrible gear design) but smaller room than competitors, not much room for storage, etc. If that's youe priority than you should have get a Chevy Traverse. A fantastic SUV with huge room to spare.l!
“Very unhappy with”. Have you looked at the other interiors in the class? Power figures? Anything else?? You’re unhappy with the an extra 20 seconds it takes you to move mirrors?? The infotainment is PROVEN to be safer. Get another car if you prefer to be unsafe. Wow a new shifter takes time to get used to. What a surprise. You really said to put buttons instead? Immediately lost me there. Wow less storage? Might be because it’s awd with a batterie and built for an INLINE 6. Can’t have everything at once? Wow surprising. Same space (more actually) than a BMW. Significantly cheaper and similar quality/power. You give and take for what you need.
Back to the mirrors - you may want to try setting it again. According to the manual, the outside mirror angle is saved. Also, "If the angle of the outer mirror is adjusted close to the limits of its range of motion, the angle of the outer mirrors may not be programmed correctly."
Do you have a premium trim or premium plus ? Premium trim has memory seats but no memory mirrors. (why even offer memory seats then) the Premium plus trim has memory mirrors with the memory seats.
@@premiumoctane93 Actually, I just bought a Premium and was reading the manual and noticed the caveat. I thought it might be worth mentioning because that limitation is ridiculous for any trim. Otherwise, I purchased the Machine Gray Metallic because yours looked so nice! Thanks for the reviews.
If you are coming from a vehicle that has none of these complaints it makes them much more of a big deal IMO. If you are coming from a car with no memory seats /mirrors or a touchscreen infotainment then they may seem minor to you.
Didn't you at least see the car before buying it? I mean, most, if not all your points were based on design & functionality, which you could experience prior to purchase.
As I also ordered the PHVE GT, here is my thought on the 5 dislikes. 1. In Canada, the mirror links with the seat memory on the GT trim. 2. Yes, I hate that as well, it is not a touchscreen. The same size screen on the Inline 6 trims is a touchscreen but not provided on PHEV. 3. Shifter is fine, just takes time to get used to it. 4. Storage is not a big concern to me. 5. I will have the OEM mud guards installed in front and rear as I found dirt also exists on my Subaru at the same spot. And there is another missing feature that I really need is the Lane Centering Assist or Cruising & Traffic Support, this feature is only available on the top two Inline 6 trims.
There is no true "Remote Start" in the Phev model. Just HVAC settings that you can turn on to get the cabin to the desired temperature. On the main remote screen scroll to the the left and it will come to a Climate screen. Click the fan ICON and hold it.
Thats good to know I am still on the fence still deciding if I want to purchase one I was looking at the premium plus with the bench seat. I really appreciate the info that you guys are putting on. This video really helps.
Is there a “manual mode” aka DBW for the transmission? I use engine braking all the time in the mountains on my CX5. How is it possible this vehicle has no way to do this? For $60k??
The PHEV model has a little bit of Regen braking so you can utilize that for mountains and regain Electric power at the bottom. Not quite the same as manual mode and downshifting but still better than nothing.
The car was given to you or something like this? Those "problems" normally are spotted before buying a vehicle, and none of them are real problems. And also, the first person in the world who complains about the step tire.
The charging cable that comes with the car is super slow. I bought a shockflo charger online and it shaved 3 hours of charge time using the same 110v outlet.
Nice video. Three of your dislikes are non-issues for me, but the lack of a touch screen is nearly a deal-breaker, and limiting cargo space as Mazda has done is giving me pause.
SUV is mainly a luxury big car to carry more passengers, not a cargo car. If you love storage, then go with a minivan. Honda Odyssey is phenomenal in interior space design. But i do agree that Mazda cargo space design looks stupid with third row down which creates a thirty-degree slope -> everything will slide toward the tailgate,
Thanks for the video...I still like my CX9 GT....it has touchscreen (But I'm used to use the wheel) it has more storage space in the centre console, and the most important it has a better shifter....I also think the front face (specially the grill and the head lights) looks much better on CX9.... oh and I forgot.... not that stupid start/stop engine feature on CX9 😂
Was it with the button or the "Camera System" ? From reports I have heard the even the Premium Plus does not adjust the mirrors with the seat memory button
Can you make a video testing out the CX-90 collision avoidance braking by setting up a cone with a piece of cardboard attached? I am curious to see if the car stops before hitting the cardboard at 5, 10, 25 mph, and possibly faster without you hitting the brakes. I think it would make for an interesting video for all who have that feature on their cars.
Thanks. Gosh, that weird shifter, 1st gen new drive system issues and no CarPlay seems like more of an economy car. Lots of UT reviews are noting the lazy/slow and clunky drive system. Maybe for next year that can refine it. And Care Care Nut on the 6 cyl inline was as eye opener of its potential long-term maintenance issues and also clunky/slow drive system. I hope you leased it.
In my Turbo S I am not noticing the this drive train clunking at all in fact coming from a GM 6speed in a Yukon, it’s so smooth. Ill keep an eye on it and certainly if the programming is bunk, software is easy to update
Do you ever bash your knee on the air vent by the door? I did the first and only time I got in one. Also the center console on my CX-9 is a inch to wide for cruise control when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal and rest it off to the side.( Common complaint) The center console on this cx-90 seems wider but never got to drive it and see if the same width issue is there.
I am a car guy and have owned a lot of different cars. I am just giving my opinions after actually owning it and not the 30 minute reviews from people that don’t actually own one.
How much did Toyota pay you to make this video. The bottom of the door ledge that you never see gets dirty? Ever see a door jam? I get the windshield wiper thing but these reasons are so lame. How did you not test any of these functions before your initial purchase? Did you even test drive the car?
@premiumoctane93 My wife is 5'0".so when I come to get in I push 2 and seat zips to my perfect spot. Funny the mirrors require very little adjustment .
Dude, is that all you got? It seems like you need a diaper change. For the money, the new Mazda CX-90 is hands down one of if not the best 3 row SUV on the market right now. It blows the competition out of the water. You should have just gone with the Inline6. The rest of your complaints are extremely lame and petty imo.
@@premiumoctane93 i too own a CX-90. So which specific 3 row SUVs with a lower price point but with the same or better features, specs and engineering would you place above the 2024 Mazda CX-90?
@@r.t.moo. Lincoln aviator can be had with specs = to the Mazda for the price of turbo premium plus with more power and more room( albeit not the phev versions )

@@r.t.moo. the $59,000 aviator would be a better choice than the top CX90 for cargo, power and infotainment that’s just for my situation. It is all subjective so you can argue it for hours. If I was going to go top of the line cx90 I rather go aviator.
5 years with a CX-90 and I haven't used the touchscreen since the first day. It is just too far from you. That whole "future will be hand gestures on screens" that Minority Report suggested was never going to happen. It is much more convenient to use a mouse or a wheel than reach out your arm 2 feet and poke at a screen - with your hand blocking half of it.
I dont see them as unfair just the dislikes that I have with the car. When the previous car you owned and almost every other car on the market has a Touch Screen as standard and Memory Mirrors if there is a memory seat options it makes for a big deal, these complaints are just my opinion.
"if you own a CX-90 and have anything you dislike leave a comment"!!?? how about if you have anything you do like, leave a comment? it seems like your dislikes are pretty minor...dont think you shared anything here that would change my mind or added value to anybody's persepctive on this vehcile.

I have a CX 90 love it so far had it over a month 😊.
I just go the cx90 and totally agree with your assessment of it.
No storage at all
Based on the negative comments about the Mazda CX-90 in this post, I wonder how the author was able to choose/purchase the CX-90? Among the negative points listed in this publication, one for me is the lack of storage around the console. If I ever buy the Mazda CX-90, it will be the base model in Canada, the GS or maybe wait for the CX-70 as I don't really need the third row. 🤔
So glad you mentioned door cleaning! Was considering this to get rid of my grand highlander, which is worse!
No to run flats. Almost no one uses the 3rd row so this vehicle is big enough for most.
I prefer no run flats and just air compressor, plug kit and AAA :)
You don’t want a run flat on a vehicle designed for off road use and towing.
@@nickcef510 if you have it fully charged and set it to 100%. It should be minimal mpg degradation.
I like the shifter and the way you must turn left for the parking.
Very weird that Mazda withholds memory mirrors on these things, my 21 Mazda3 Hatch has memory mirrors that also dip in reverse
I really like the information system, the control is right at your hand no leaning over to poke at the screen
@@premiumoctane93 that’s weird, because I have the Apple CarPlay enabled in my non-turbo CX 50 premium plus!
Spare tire and no touch screen are plus in my book.
This has optional touch screen for apple car play or android auto. He just doesn’t know and doesn’t have one.
How about the overly aggressive lane assist feature. Gonna cause an accident . I have to turn mine off.
Yes how dare they pit a spare tire in the vehicle. My 2016 mazda 6 has a touchscreen...that has never been touched. I love the command wheel.
No touchscreen is a deal breaker, I hate that wheel !
@premiumoctane93 you never have to reach for anything... or look around the screen
... or hit a bump and your finger just misses what you wanted to hit.. the command wheel does it all.
None the dislikes you have sounds important or fair
When your previous car didnt have any of these dislikes it makes them more than minor to me. If you didnt have a touchscreen or memory seats/ mirrors in your previous car then it may not be as big of deal for you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. But it just shocked me that you could say the same thing to many other RWD platforms SUV (except that terrible gear design) but smaller room than competitors, not much room for storage, etc. If that's youe priority than you should have get a Chevy Traverse. A fantastic SUV with huge room to spare.l!
Storage is not my priority but for the size of this SUV it should have more space. Just sharing my opinions on my dislikes.
You give and take for what you need.
ruclips.net/video/sGaJcVSGztA/видео.html
Thanks for the reviews.
checked one today at the dealer and I thought it looked even better in person. Angling for CX-50 but not a fan of that 4cyl engine sound
Your complaints are just nagging and not real complaints
If you are coming from a vehicle that has none of these complaints it makes them much more of a big deal IMO. If you are coming from a car with no memory seats /mirrors or a touchscreen infotainment then they may seem minor to you.
Didn't you at least see the car before buying it? I mean, most, if not all your points were based on design & functionality, which you could experience prior to purchase.
Can us use the fast charging at electrify america to charge this car?
No, just standard charging. Non fast charging charge point chargers will work.
That's disappointing
How can I charge my phone in Mazda cx90? I just rented this car….
You can make it touch screen in the menu settings
Not unless you have a premium plus model and use apple car play or android auto. It should be touch screen as standard.
Please elaborate.
@@nickcef510 from what I have read no Canadian models have the ability for apple car play/android auto touch screen. Another Mazda blunder
The seat memory botones are not lighted when you open the door and the SUV IS OFF.
Does it become a touchscreen with Android auto and apple carplay?
@@starwolf0018Not for all PHEV trims in Canada.

Hey. I just bought a CX90 phev, trying to figure out the remote engine start from MyMazda app. I only see Remote Charge Start. It’s annoying.
There is no true "Remote Start" in the Phev model. Just HVAC settings that you can turn on to get the cabin to the desired temperature. On the main remote screen scroll to the the left and it will come to a Climate screen. Click the fan ICON and hold it.
@@premiumoctane93 thanks that works. But it’s weird phev doesn’t have remote engine start.
I’ve heard when you open the driver door that the shifter will automatically go into Park?
It doesn’t go into park but it does automatically engage the electronic parking brake.
One more issue : passenger seat is not height adjustable and lumbar adjustable even on a 62k top trim .
The premium plus most likely has the memory mirrors
Did you purchase your car online?
I should have asked to test drive it for a week and then I would have known. Horrible car though for me anyway sold it back to Mazda
The car was given to you or something like this?
Those "problems" normally are spotted before buying a vehicle, and none of them are real problems.
And also, the first person in the world who complains about the step tire.
They are real problems, I am making a part 2 so stay tuned
The charging cable that comes with the car is super slow. I bought a shockflo charger online and it shaved 3 hours of charge time using the same 110v outlet.
Nice ! I am using a level 2 tesla charger with Lectron j1772 charger, 0-100% charge in 2 hours
@@premiumoctane93 how often do you find yourself charging your vehicle daily?
@@learits2673 I was charging it once a day as my daily driving was around 20 miles or so typically.
runflats are awful, wow why would you suggest that. The full spare is nice, and doubles as a subwoofer enclosure.
I was waiting for the real complaints
The one I tested adjusted the mirrors too.
Was it with the button or the "Camera System" ? From reports I have heard the even the Premium Plus does not adjust the mirrors with the seat memory button
Sounds like the Premium and Premium Plus PHEV models do not have memory mirrors only the "TURBO S" gas trim level.
I think the worst thing is the 26 mpg on batteries crazy
I feel like the minority when I watch these videos because I actually love the shifter
old mazdas had touch screen, they went with safety.. I think all will follow suit as its safer
Unfortunately no lease. I may have to lose some money to get out of it...
In my Turbo S I am not noticing the this drive train clunking at all in fact coming from a GM 6speed in a Yukon, it’s so smooth. Ill keep an eye on it and certainly if the programming is bunk, software is easy to update
Not everything has a touchscreen. Honda/Acura do not. Some Lexus models do not. And the shifter is better than pushing buttons.
Yes I have done it once and it hurt like *****!!
What did you buy the car for then? Complaining about such petty issues
I am a car guy and have owned a lot of different cars. I am just giving my opinions after actually owning it and not the 30 minute reviews from people that don’t actually own one.
Why did u buy it then ?
Big mistake, sold it back
How much did Toyota pay you to make this video. The bottom of the door ledge that you never see gets dirty? Ever see a door jam? I get the windshield wiper thing but these reasons are so lame. How did you not test any of these functions before your initial purchase? Did you even test drive the car?
U probably got the most basic lol 😅 Cuz cx90 memory seats do adjust mirror 😅😅 U just very peaky.. I got top trim
Why would they have a trim that has memory seats but not mirrors??? That’s just dumb
I have owned this for 2 months and would argue that is not the best for the money… just my opinion though.

5 years with a CX-90 and I haven't used the touchscreen since the first day. It is just too far from you.
