Tony, I like that you made it even better than it was. Being able to keep it secure and locked is a huge plus. I would never have guessed it could hold all that firewood as it did, haha! Thanks for posting!
I just found your channel, Great Videos Tony!! I ride a 2018 R1200GS. Your Mods make the trailer super functional for road & offroad utility! Fabricate one please!
I’m working on a trailer that will be adjustable in how low it can ride to keep the center of gravity low and the ability to raise it for off road to suit your conditions!
im concerned for the swingarm bearings and handling being subjected to twisting loads during turns when the trailer is loaded down. Anyone who has ever used a fully loaded wheel barrel knows the twisting forces applied to your hands when it rolls. It is unique but for most people panniers and a back pack should be more than enough storage if not you are taking too much crap with you. I do appreciate the effort you made documenting your experience with it.
The trail properly loaded will not affect the swing arm wear. More forces are put on the swing arm when riding off road than the trailer does on road. The reason one would use a trailer is to take the unsprung weight off the bike. Makes the bike handle better on road and with a big bike like the Africa Twin you don’t even notice the trailer. This trailer is no good for small ADV bikes on or off road. The mount design is flawed. Otherwise it’s seat for turning and BDRs
Winter camping requires more bulky gear. For winter camping you need extra space. A top heavy bike is very difficult to get through things like mud and sand.
Well good thing a tube failure on the trailer probably won't be at all catastrophic on the road, you could probably have a blowout of trailers tire an not even know especially on dirt you probably won't notice, also i think they use plastic/rubber bushings on axel so it dont make noise sqeaking
Thanks for watching, I got the swag from swag. I don’t know if Kipmoto is offering this. I tried the trailer on my 300l and with anything in the trailer the bike was unrideable. This trailer works best on heavier bikes.
Does the rotopax touch from the ground when countersteering and cornering? How is it when you fall down? How's the handling of the bike with the trailer offroad?
Does your trailer get tippy with a heavy load in the trailer I have a bike trailer that when top heavy wants to tip over it's a Quietkat Single wheel looking for ideas to fix that problem . Like your ideas with water bottles and accesories
This trailer is not good for a dual sport. It’s pretty much gonna be there and adventure bike kind of trailer. It needs to be lower and have a skid plate underneath it. Anything smaller than 700 is no good if you’re going to put anything in it. 50 pounds is the max I put in it with the Africa twin will not work with the 300 at all. I thought about lowering it but gave up. It’s great for the big bikes not the small ones.
Thanks for the review. I do have a few comments and questions about the setup you have, and hoping your can comment. I like where you stuck the GL bags. Do you think you will keep them there? Have you tried to see if the Action Packer is waterproof while underway? Great idea using the Action Packer as a seat/table/foot rest. I really like the Swag unit as extra security. Were you able to figure out what the sway was on your trailer? The other reviews I have read/seen say it tracks perfectly. Could it possibly be a weight distribution situation like on a trailer towed behind a car/truck? Do you know what the difference is between using a knobby tire or a street tire? To me the street tire would last longer (?), but 10K miles on a knobby is nothing to sneeze at. Again, thanks for the great review.
For now, I don’t see any issues with them there. I might throw a zip tie on them just to make sure they don’t drift on me. I need to ad a weatherstrip for the lid as I did get some sings of water. The sway is from the connection to the axle of the bike. It’s a poor system but I am working on a new design, possibly with two sealed bearings. You can’t overload this trailer. It’s best when you keep it light, under 50lb of gear. The only issue is it’s on a single wheel and if the swing arm connection has slop it will make the bike wobble. I have loaded this trailer to the max and I’m fine tuning it to work out the kinks. Currently I like the tire that is on it as it has shown no wear since I have started using it. I full on street tire will work but I want to go off road and feel better with the dual sport tire. I will be reviewing the trailer once I get it all setup.
@@IronButterflyAT You have me thinking. Here in Ontario Canada we are required to have a licence plate and functioning running/turn signal lights on any trailer. I do not have a problem with more lights as this might mean more visibility and less chances of getting rear ended. My issue was mounting the licence plate and lights so they do not interfere with the opening and closing of the Rubbermaid container, having the licence plate high enough so it is not blocked by the tire, and having the licence plate not interfere with the shock and fender, plus ascetically pleasing. My solution was in your video with you using the Swag locking kit. I think I will mount, as an assembly, the lights and licence plate to the top of the Swag unit. Makes sense and will be an easy install. Plus easily removable if I choose.
@@49Roadmaster I will post my Kate’s upgrades soon that includes the plate, turn signals, and break lights all hooked up to the trailer and what I did with the bike. I am currently fitting the trailer to my CRF300l for an up and coming BDR. Unfortunately Iron Buttons has been in the shop for almost a month now with a virus 🦠. I have had to cancel my trip to Moab and now my trip the flag staff is in jeopardy if I don’t get it sorted out soon. So you might see Iron Maiden in the next SurePax video.
@@IronButterflyAT When I am finished with modifying mine, including a checker plate fender and checker plate lower front stone deflector to protect the rubbermaid Actionpacker, I will send you pictures of the final product. Looking forward to your next video.

I am having my own design made for my AT as the one supplied is worthless. At least you have a trailer to work with. I don’t think I will be a repeat customer simply because the customer service is none existent.
I also talk to him about a month ago when I ordered my trailer about putting scab strips on the trailer for the swag kit. He asked to to get measurements and I did and sent up to him and that was the last I heard. 1 month ago

Problem with the plastic bushings is there is too much movement that really affects the bike and causes a wobble, not good.

Yes
Is that linkage system to the bike axel, Africa specific or Universal
