Yeah, I mean, my severely underfunded local library has a 3D printer; it’s not as outlandish as it seems. Entirely possible to 3D-print this stuff, DIY style.
4 years later and I just recently got the G305 and I have to say its really nice and the price dropped half the price where I got it for only 25 USD, great pick up and overall a nice mouse especially if you are just now switching from wired to wireless mouse!
Went from a G502 to the G305. The lack of wire and lower weight as well as smaller shape make it such a nice mouse for me. My skills definitely improved because of it. I'm currently ranked #1500 in the world with S1 kills on Apex, so this is definitely not a bad mouse and I'm still using the included Alkaline battery that came with it.
"There's modded shells on thingiverse, but that doesn't matter if you don't have a 3d printer." Right, because I definitely can't order printed parts through thingiverse.
I don't think I've ever disliked an LTT video before. "There are lots of DIY casing options, but we don't feel like showing you those. Just get a lighter battery. The end." Seriously?
Dude are your arms good ? Lol 😂 also 80 is heavy because I have a Logitech mouse BUT IT IS A STUPID AND OLD OFFICE MOUSE whic is 76 or smh and it is heavy
i have the redragon griffin m607 which weights 107g, its not heavy for me but it tires my muscles out when i have to warm up my aim, basically my whole aim style makes it tiring to use so i would like a 80-70g mouse
With a 3d printer and accurate measurements that might be the pro solution, but for the diy guy at home a drill or a dremel come a long way. Make sure to disassemble it first.
@@HappyBeezerStudios Whattttt??????? Says who a 3d printer is for "accurate measurements" and "pro solution" You realize printers cost like 300 dollars right? I have a printer and I am no where near a "pro"
Yeah, I don't have a printer, and buying one just for making a shell for a mouse seems a bit excessive. And with accurate measurements I mean that the printed form has to actually somewhat fit on the mouse. If tolerances are to lose it requires manual cutting to make it fit and at that point, why not just cut the piece that's already on there. Basically a 3d printer being "pro" as compared to just trying to do it with a knife and drill.

@@Frawt Implying that lighter mice makes you better in games? Sure if you had a 300g+ mouse you might get slower at lower sensitivities, but the difference is at most like 50-60g between most mice. The friction between your mouse and mousepad is probably more important than a few dozen grams.
I find it funny that when comparing prices you get the price from Logitech's website for the G Pro Wireless, which is 150$ and from Amazon for G305, which is 49$. If you also search for the price of G Pro Wireless in Amazon you will find that it actually costs 128-130$, having also an option for refurbished from 115$, on eBay you can find it for less than 100$ all the time as well, and since we are talking about modding a mouse, I would consider these type of buys (returned or even lightly used) as an option as well. In conclusion, the G305 in Logitech's website is 60$, so please, be more transparent about the prices, I don't think the average consumer will want to have all this trouble for a perfect G305 when you can get such good deals on the G Pro.
Would've been cool to see some serious testing of how the 3D printed shells held up. I'm actually super interested in this, but that shape doesn't remotely look good for my hands while the G502 is nearly perfect. (Should I just try to put the G305 internals in an old G502 for fun? LOL
I've always thought about a mouse that has a sensor at the tip... so that all the fingertips will point at the sensor while holding the mouse... theoretically, it should give you more accuracy, like holding a pen kinda feel... also it should help to cover more distance for wrist flickers, compared to the mouses that have the sensors in the middle...
I am willing to bet that companies have already tested different sensor placements and that on average, center placement was received the best. They are not going to spin up a whole production line for a niche product.
IDK about those testers but I had this G305 since it first came out. I love the weight and the low height. It is really preference. The sensors are the same as far as performance. I have tested all the wireless Logitechs and Razer mices. Returned all of them and gave the Lancehead away. Only the G305's shape did not give me hand fatigue.
And 3 years later, I have one. I am extremely disappointed with Logitech didn't close and get rid of Logitech G Hub and move every mouse that was only associating with the said software. And make Firmware Update Tool work for the said mouse. I don't think the hardware is what sucks about it, it's just the lack of proper software support.
I have the opposite issue... I like my mice big and heavy. The Rat7 was the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, I even looked past it's garbage sensor. Whenever I get a new mouse I always look for something with adjustable weights, I then take those weights to a hardware store and find something with the same diameters but made of a heavier material like lead.
i've had the G305 for about 2 years now. the heaviness is what u get used to in less than 2 weeks to be honest, and it doesn't even weight THAT much more to the point of being critical. wanted to go for g pro but it's just too damn expensive. i can get 3 g305s and get more value out of it. best mouse i ever had, didn't have to change batteries for more than a month, and I game A LOT , daily on regular basis.
I feel like the writers are really running out of video ideas.....I would to if i had to create a 3-5 videos a week. The writers definitely need some fresh ideas.
I've used the G305 extensively for the past year or so, and I can say without a doubt that it's a rocking mouse with "long battery life" (obviously might vary but still very good) On High Power mode. It also has an incredible amount of durability since as a gamer, I am very much prone to raging and have repeatedly smacked the mouse on the desk with no damage (to my knowledge) to be seen, although I have no comments on the weight since most of the mouse I've used in the past were as heavy if not more heavier than the G305, overall great product.
Got mine 6 months ago, now the scroll wheel randomly will tick in the opposite direction. Its incredibly annoying and i deeply regret getting this mouse.
The only thing I don't like about it is how loud the click is. But I replaced my old corsair with it. It had started double clicking on a single click. But no wire? Honestly, it's pretty NICE. And I don't mind a "heavy" mouse. I mean come on, it isn't that heavy. It's just nice not having a wired mouse.
With a heatgun and an exactoknife you can actually cut it apart in some places and then just sand down the edges. Idk why people start with 3D printing right of the bat.
Honestly, the heat gun thing is probably more outlandish than 3D printing. 3D Hubs is a thing and Thingiverse has an order button right there on the page to have someone else make the thing for you. Everyone can do online shopping, but not everyone has a heat gun.
And after you replace the battery you’re gonna do do all the cool 3D printed stuff that we plebs don’t have access to but you do... Oh wait you’re not? This was a video about swapping a battery? Okay.
Something you forget about! g305 only rated for 10-million clicks. While the gpro wireless is rated for 50-million clicks. Which for me makes the cost-savings null n void. Since g305 is 3rd the price, yet has 1/5th the shelf life to gpro-wireless. If you wanted to save money and wanted wireless, then 110g is fine to you, a g703 is half the price with same amount of rated clicks 50-million.
Yeah, but honestly by the time the G305 wears out there's probably something better or cheaper out on the market, and by that time the G Pro wireless' non-replaceable battery will have worn out as well.
Mice fail for other reasons than switch failure. The average office worker clicks 5000 times per day. Let's assume a gamer clicks twice that at 10000 clicks per day, around 1 click every 8 seconds. The G305 at 10M click lifespan will last more that 2.5 years of 10000 clicks every day. Since both mice come with 2 year warranty, you can see that the click lifespan is largely irrelevant.
@@Drinkyoghurt For the wireless market, updates don't happen that often far as logitech. I've been using wireless mouse before they were good, since early 00's. Wasn't comparable to a wired mouse till the g903 came out, they always claimed it was, but that was the first to me. Then as a gamer, I'd say your current mouse you love, will be the mouse you'd look for when it dies. Just because you're used to it, long as the sensor is as good as you're. My g703 battery going full 29-ish hours still after a year of heavy heavy usage. Say 6-18hours a day, 7 days a week. I also kovaaks an hour a day, which is much more clicking than normal users. I'm impressed with the paint job, since it just looks smoother on the left click. I normally wear off any paint or rubber within 6months. Look at shroud still using a g303, plenty of newer mice since then, but thats what he got used to. Sorta doubt the gpro line will go down in price, since its their flagship of sorts for gaming mouse. What will happen is like the g303, you'll find people like shroud willing to pay 250+ dollars for it. Since logitech will finish off inventory and directly replace it. Look at old mouse prices. My old fav a g700 goes for over 200 as well currently, I bought it retail brand new for 70 when it was still made. I still want a wireless 4-thumb button mouse though :P, a good one, not no g603 which is trash. I'll replace my g703 with it, when I see logitech make one. I only buy logitech mice.

$30 for G305 on amazon $85 for g pro wireless for updated price.

(Should I just try to put the G305 internals in an old G502 for fun? LOL
There's a wireless G502 out now. G502 Lightspeed
Why the fuck would you do that
I've always thought about a mouse that has a sensor at the tip... so that all the fingertips will point at the sensor while holding the mouse... theoretically, it should give you more accuracy, like holding a pen kinda feel... also it should help to cover more distance for wrist flickers, compared to the mouses that have the sensors in the middle...
Know it’s been a year, but I freaking love this idea. It’s definitely not be for everyone, but I’d sure as hell pick it up too LEAST try it
I am willing to bet that companies have already tested different sensor placements and that on average, center placement was received the best.
When working with photo editing, I prefer a more heavy mouse, it just stays put better without shifting around too easily.
Thought they were gonna use hyperglides, 3D printed cases and maybe a usb rechargable battery
i've had the G305 for about 2 years now. the heaviness is what u get used to in less than 2 weeks to be honest, and it doesn't even weight THAT much more to the point of being critical. wanted to go for g pro but it's just too damn expensive. i can get 3 g305s and get more value out of it. best mouse i ever had, didn't have to change batteries for more than a month, and I game A LOT , daily on regular basis.
I feel like the writers are really running out of video ideas.....I would to if i had to create a 3-5 videos a week.
The writers definitely need some fresh ideas.
This was cool prick, Im just disappointing in the fact they didn't take the time to 3d print the shell replacement.
Even from 3 years ago. This video still helps me
With a heatgun and an exactoknife you can actually cut it apart in some places and then just sand down the edges.
