  • While this video features an impact sprinkler from the 1950's or early 1960's marketed by TELSCO (Texas Lawn Sprinkler Company/DBA Weathermatic), much of the video is dedicated to at least partially telling the story of the founder of that company, Max Snoddy.
I do my best to briefly sketch Mr. Snoddy's early life, his time at Northern Indian Brass Company (NIBCO), his affiliation with John A. Brooks, and his founding of the Texas Lawn Sprinkler Company/Weathermatic, but certainly there is much more that could be said about this man than I capture here. My goal is just to share a little bit of the memory of the people who made our irrigation industry what it is today.
The sprinkler makes lots of rainbows in this one, and the thumbnail for the video hasn’t been edited other than for size. It’s a side effect of the time of day I did the videoing. Also, my new tripod, which is making a big difference in set up and tear down time while increasing the quality of the videos in my opinion, can be seen pretty prominently. If you want one, I bought mine at www.ebay.com/s....
I hope you enjoy this video, and thanks for watching!

What a fabulous brief history presentation of Mr. Snoddy and the affiliations with the Telsco/Nibco companies. I’ve just learn a lot here!. You never disappoint!
Even though now that I’ve been a retired plumber/irrigation fitter for many years from back in day, I still see the Nibco name on so many current plumbing products to this day and still going strong!
Your 3/4” impact works perfectly on your set up with nice movement and great coverage. Great to see the close ups as an additional bonus!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of irrigation history!…

Very nice TELSCO impact, it certainly does run well. Interesting history about Max and the companies.

I was intrigued by your background of the companies and their evolution. Of course my favorite is watching the sprinkler in operation. I have several 260 models, I am not sure if I have a Telsco. I have two Swan models coming that were kind of expensive. I think of this basic design I am still very partial to the U61 design and I am cleaning up a U61A model wondering how it will be different than the D series. I enjoy it all and love seeing them all operationally. Thank you for your videos.

Thank you. I love the early 260’s with the rounded brass arc stops. I don’t have a Swan. I should pull them all out and make a list of the brands. The U61’s are also a great design. Looking forward to seeing how your U61A turns out.

@@antiquesprinklers I think of all of the brass models the U61 design is a favorite, but I notice there is a smaller version that is not full size like the one I have so I will have to do a comparison between them. Again thank you.
