Very nice Double Rotary. It works extremely well and gives great coverage! Its design and the pride of workmanship in building these sprinklers has proven the test of time.
The history of the founder Louis Holland and his patent for the Double Rotary H explained here is just a wonderful bonus. Thank you for putting all of this together and sharing this video for all to enjoy.

Thanks, Dave. I always love it when there’s a little more to a person’s story than just a name on a patent.

Thank you for telling the story of this sprinkler. When the internet was still young and I was just starting out in the world of old lawn sprinklers, this Double Rotary sprinkler was the best sprinkler in the world for me. It is still very good, but I now also know Zeyssolff and Siemens from that time. As I recall, there were clever marketing campaigns in which money was to be repaid. Better than Rain? Company headquarters in the Coca-Cola building? I was keen to see a sprinkler like that on the Biesdorf meadow.

Apparently the Coca-Cola building headquarters, or maybe a subsequent building they occupied had slow elevators that drove Lou Holland to distraction. He built his final headquarters around the idea he would not waste time with elevators again. In what I think is related news, there was a newspaper item I didn’t share in the video that stated he was expected to be released after spending time in a hospital recovering from exhaustion.

Very interesting design. I like the way it works. I am surprised that the arc of the nozzle is higher than I might normally expect. Thank you for sharing it. It works quite well.
