It’s because he’s a kid. He doesn’t know what it was like to pay for things himself under Trump. This is the problem with Gen z coming to the polls. They have been brainwashed to believe in the green new scam and when they came into the economy they had nothing to compare it to. All they know is orange man bad and the “progress” agenda. They’ll be in shock if Trump gets elected and they start seeing what things are supposed to cost.

Here is a HUGE problem that is sometimes spoken to in very vague terms, but is much more an issue than really anyone is giving it credit. To talk about this, I'm going ask a seemingly bizarre question: Look around wherever you are and tell me - how many things...are not there? Strange, right? The answer? Infinity. One of my favorite quotes, "An infinite number of things are simultaneously absent". What the heck does this have to do with Americans, today? Especially for college students (and can you think of a more insulated group of people?) they have NO idea what they don't know! None of us truly knows...all we don't know but when you don't have to literally pay for EVERYTHING in your life..not just "some things" but everything...the roof, the lights, water, heat, gas, every calorie you consume,..,everything...only then do you really understand "economics". Here's how insidious inflation is: Inflation is nothing more than the idea that $1 does not have the buying power of $1 in another time. So because $1 is not $1, the vendor who wants $1 compensation now has to charge $1.25. Now, there's a tax on everything, right? A tax at a fixed rate. So, if I was formerly paying $1 and say tax rate is 10%...govt gets 10 cents. Now I paid $1.25 so the govt gets 12.5 cents. Which is more..10 or 12.5? So inflation costs YOU and benefits the tax coffers so why am I, the govt, keen on curbing inflation? Another aspect is the cost to produce goods - inflation hits everything, duh, so those costs go up is the vendor just going to "take the hit"? No! And if tax rates increase (either by increase OR by ending tax breaks) the extra taxes YOU pay are also extra taxes the VENDOR pays. You think they take THAT hit? So you pay the tax on a sale AND you pay the company's tax. Why do you think that while prices for goods are skyrocketing these companies still manage record profits? Did the magical "profit fairy" put a few million under the CEO's pillow? Any consumer can tell you, we are pay not 10, 20, 30% more for products...just do a little exercise. Arbitrarily pick 10 things you buy with any regularity. See what you're paying now...and go check the price from 2018. Or 2010 since you mentioned that year. I'll bet for a majority of products, you're paying well over 50% more...maybe over 100% more, i.e. double. Example? Trump had us ENERGY INDEPENDENT. We were a net exporter...we were selling more than we were buying! Gasoline under $2 a gallon and what is it now? That is bad enough BUT do this...check the price per kilowatt hour for electricity now...versus 2018. Do the same for natural gas and water - your utilities. Now tell me the TRUE inflation rate. It's universal! Home prices, do I have to tell you about that? I don't think so. Everything. It's also reflected in interest rates! In March, 2018 prime rate (home) was 4.75%. March, 2024 it was 8.5%. Go to any mortgage calculator online...there are many...and see how much more interest you pay on a 30 year fixed...typical mortgage...for a, say, $250k (about median) home...for the 2018 rate you'd pay $219, 483 just in interest. Today's rate you're paying $442,022. Do you think $442k...is "a bit more" than $220k? Maybe...double? Your $250k mortgage in 2018 matures for a total cost of $469,483. Your $250k mortgage in 2024 matures at $692,022. That is a 47% increase. That's insane. And do NOT even get me started on the OTHER hugely "invisible" cost...Insurance. My home owners insurance went up...ready? 64% Year over Year. Thank you, Peado Joe Biden, may you expire slowly, painfully and go to hell.

Its a bit more nuanced than face value. Semi-Conductor production in the US is indirectly outlawed by the EPA. Refining Silica into its usable form produces several unavoidable toxic waste byproducts that are outlawed and thus illegal to produce in the US. The CHIPS ACT on its face sounds great, but the devil is in the details. The Chips Act cannot be implemented without changes to the law. The needed changes to the laws would create a huge new problem especially with the disposal of toxic waste like cadmium telluride, gallium arsenide, hexafluoroethane, hydrofluoric acid, Hydrogen Sulfide, polyvinyl fluoride, Sodium Tetrachloride. These byproducts are unavoidable and are produced to the tune of 5 to 1. Meaning for every 1 ton of electronics grade silicon produced 5 tons of toxic byproducts are produced.

I have problems with it. For instance, building facilities in Arizona. Semiconductor manufacturing uses water. A LOT of it. We've seen manufacturing shortfalls in 2016 and 2021 due to droughts.
So why THE F>>K are they "securing" our future, with OUR TAX DOLLARS, building plants in THE DESERT??

I keep asking this question on every social media and no one has answered me. With the renewable energy act we have solar panels that contain heavy metals and lead, we have electric car batteries that containing lithium and Cobalt and other chemicals these only last 15 years where we going to bury these items? Are we going to pollute our landfills with these chemicals they have to be buried the same with wind turbines we chop them up and bury them in our landfills this is definitely polluting our Earth does anybody think about this? Also do a search on Google where does electricity come from and the first thing that pops up is fossil fuels. This is crazy

I actually like this young man. He is intelligent, and humble. He came with speaking points, and reasons why he believed the way he does (even if he's a little misinformed), and he wasn't rude and obnoxious when told he was wrong. There's a lot of growth that can happen when one is willing to listen, and debate civilly the way they did. It's not a new thing for young people to be more liberal, until they gain some real life experience and wisdom. I would be interested in seeing where his leanings fall 20 years from now.

Heard a very good explanation of inflation recently. The highest rate in one year was 9 and now it’s like 3.5 but the 3.5 is in addition to the previous 9 and the increases of the other 2 years. Over the last 4 years total inflation has gone up 22 to 25%. Each year it’s going up piggybacking onto the previous increases. That’s overall, things like groceries and gas have increased more than that.
