And it was repealed by the amendments following the CIvil War. So unless we somehow find ourselves in 1864, which is impossible, this argument is irrelevant. Besides, this was used to count for how many representatives a state sent to the House in D.C. How is this at all relative to anything we could possibly discuss today? uneducated and low functioning people using their right to vote to mess everything up is a real problem. We don't let children vote, or our dogs. What is different about a human who knows nothing? Am i saying we should take some peoples right to vote away from them? YES, I don't apologize for reality. And I don't let blind men drive my car. If this is discriminatory towards blind people, I don't care, I'm still not going to allow it. But it's always easy for the racists to dismiss "culture" when it comes to white people. Apparently French, Italian, German and British cultures are all just "white", when it suits the racists. I absolutely hate the "3/5 of a person" lie. This provision in the law was so that the slave owning states could not count 100% of their total population of slaves in their congressional districts in order to maintain a majority of representatives in congress so that they could keep slavery. Instead, those slave owning states were only allowed to count 3/5 of their total population of slaves in order to keep them from monoplizing congress and eventually congress would be able to abolish slavery as was the founding father's goal. This provision was reluctantly added in order to get the slave owning states to join the Republic to fight the British during the Revolutionary War. Unfortunately, much later, the democrat leaning surpreme court ruled that slaves are property and therby slavery was constitutal according to property rights (but of course they still counted slaves as people when it came to determining congresional districts). Thankfully there is a separation of powers and our President (Lincoln) did not abide by this ruling because the supreme court is NOT the supreme law of the land and they (the supreme court), being warped and wrong minded, did not see slaves as humans but chattel. Thankfully, the constitution is clear that all men(mankind) are created equal and the right side won the incredibly bloody Civil war for the freedom of all men(mankind). Please know that at the heart of the "3/5 law" was to ultimately end slavery not to demean slaves.

3/5 clause was demeaning because how they were perceived at the time was the reason why that was codified into the constitution and it reinforced the idea that black people were never intended to be citizens. The judge who wrote the opinion of dred Scott v Sanford, Roger b Taney, the one you’re talking about, wrote that black people that slave nor free could be a citizen of the United States. It’s important to point out that his family apologized to dred Scott family for that ruling because it shows how these rulings have stretched across time and how that decision impacted them. They had to amend the constitution because of that ruling, which is why we have birthright citizenship which ironically it’s the republicans, who challenge it, because they were the ones who created it. Great Britain freed its slaves 31 years before the US and they didn’t have to declare a war to do it. This isn’t to say that one country is better than the other now or back then, or my feelings of living in the US, but by looking at that fact alone, it makes me think that black might’ve been better off for black people, if the patriots lost

@@chrisallison9151 “This isn’t to say one country is better than the other”, then proceeds to insult our country by saying we never should’ve won our war.
You do realize that we had to establish a whole country unlike any other, so yes, it did take us 30 years (just 30) longer for abolishment, but those 30 years (and many more after) gave us the country that everyone and Grandma, even now, is trying their damnedest to get into, legally or illegally. Great Britain was already an established nation with its government in place (clearly), so of course they’d be able to abolish slavery with out hassle. And just to add a little bit salt, Great Britain dominated the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade for centuries, but suddenly those last 30 years makes it so America never should have been a country because they were late to the party? And that’s pretty disrespectful to disregard the fact that there were men in America who were so dedicated to freedom and abolishing the disgusting act of slavery, that they were willing to sacrifice their lives for it.
But in my opinion, it doesn’t matter WHEN it was abolished, only that it actually WAS, because even after all the western nations were done with slavery, there were and still are countries out there that still have it. So, why don’t you go tell THEM they shouldn’t have been country?

Black people cannot possibly be racist, in this ideology. They say this is due to white oppression, that racism is interwoven with power. Black people (ALL blacks) don’t have power, so they cannot practice racism.

Slave states wanted to count slaves as population to increase their federal representation (still not giving them rights or freedom), while non-slave states argued that it was unfair to count people you wouldn't allow to be citizens. States threatened to secede, so a compromise was made to keep the country together: three-fifths of the enslaved population would count towards the state's population for the purposes of representation.

I guess that's a way to phrase it. If slave owners wanted to consider slaves as property, they couldn't also consider them as citizens for the purpose of increasing their state's population. Since the number of representatives in Congress is tied to state population, and only land owning white men could vote, hamstringing the South's ability to inflate their population size was actually a blow to slave owners' political power. I forget who, but a Northern representative argued that, if the nation would allow property to be considered citizens, then he wanted his horses, tables, and chairs to add to his state's population.

That really depends on what you mean by "on the table." There were abolitionist movements at that time, certainly, and there were even states where it was outlawed, but we were decades off of outlawing it at a federal level because the idea of the federal government overriding individual states' rights was unthinkable at the time. I don't think there were any serious suggestions of a nationwide law, but there was a nationwide movement (even in slave states, by the way--slave owners were never more than about 13% of the population at most, they just unfortunately happened to be rich and have legislative power). The idea that the more populous northern states MIGHT pass a law inhibiting slavery in some way was at least part of the motivation for wanting to count slaves as population for the purposes of representation. So, on the table but teetering on the edge?

I used to like Brianna and thought she was a pretty principled person. Somehow she gets caught up on the race thing and loses all credibility when she chooses to dehumanize anyone who isn’t black.

she is simply a racist. That is all. And utterly insufferable, I dont know how anyone with any sort of self-worth could accept being bullied by her garbage demeaning, bullyish demeanor!

Try walking into the lunchrooms of a black only dorm or a white only dorm in a college with your eyes closed and you can tell the difference. We are not the same.

    • @intrigued16
      @intrigued16 23 дня назад

may sound very different. But Your analogy there really is no difference besides the sound of the lunchroom, Other than that they are culturally doing the same thing and just eating and talking. So no, we really are not that different. Also, If.
      You go to all white.
      Middle class.
Lunch room and a all black Middle class lunch room. It will sound the Exact same way with literally no differences besides The color of their skin. If you go to a all white poor Launch room and a all black poor Launch room. Again , we'll sound the exact same way and have the same good and bad for the most part. So again Literally no difference between us besides skin color,, At least a difference that actually matters. Context matters when you make a comment.

I don’t care if people or certain races want to have gatherings etc for themselves my problem is when it’s okay for every other race except for whites. These same people like the young lady speaking who’s okay with an all black thing would be the first to scream if a group of whites did the same thing. Majority of the time it has nothing to do with racism or hatred it’s just natural for all races to gravitate towards people who look like them, act like them or can understand them on a level no one can. One big problem is that there are so many different races and cultures that are being forced together instead of coming together naturally(like freedom of association for example) so there will always be issues and clashes.

It's really a shame the world has come to this. I remember when I was younger and we went to a lot of different festivals and events. I love all kinds of music, but I especially love Zydecho and love to dance. With the way crime has gone up and the hate we have now I don't dare attend any festivals or events indoors or outdoors 😢

This is crazy. For when I was being raised. Everyone is Americans. That is what, was taught. I see this as a form of soft racism. This thinking of segregating, is really illogical.
