    90% of the slaves sent to the Americas from Africa were enslaved and sold by Africans... There are still 3.8 million slaves in Africa that were kidnapped and owned by Africans. There were African-American slave owners in the 1800s, too. White people were the ones who moved to end slavery both in North America and Europe. White countries have the least amount of forced labor in the modern world... What the hell must we feel bad about in this day and age? The Middle-Eastern slave trade enslaved about 18 million people, many of whom were white... The word slave comes from the word Slavic, which were white people... They were enslaved.

      You forgot to mention that North Africans also had white slaves around the middle eastern slave trade in fact those 2 groups of people were the 1st ever slave owners and white people were the 1st ever slaves, the Africans would also inslave other Africans and separate the families and sell them, the slavery in Africa was worse than slavery in the United States, the 1st ever slave owner in the United States was a black man named Anthony Johnson, black people even in the United States owned slaves too, black people even in the United States willingly sold slaves as well, there were also black people who willingly fought on the side of the Confederacy during the civil war to try to keep slavery alive, slavery is still legal in Africa to this day, black people also weren't the only group of people to ever be inslaved in the United States in fact the Irish and Aisans were also slaves too, black people did not suffer worse under slavery than the other 2 groups of people listed in fact it was the opposite, the N-word was originally used against Irish slaves 1st before ever being used against black people because Americans at the time couldn't understand their language and had to call them something, there is also no countries that have their population being mostly white people that still legalises slavery to this day but the same cannot be said about others, every single race participated in slavery weather they inslaved their own race or other groups of people, the United States was the 1st country to ever abolish slavery after the whole continent of Europe did in which both places have a vast majority of a white population but the United States had states that abolished slavery before places in Europe did, there are more slaves today then back in the day where slavery was legal in the United States, and slavery had nothing to do with racism instead it was just weaker groups of people being inslaved by stronger groups of people.

      I graduated in 1984. So much music then was written about unity: Ebony and Ivory, Black or White, We Are the World and many more. In my life, no one even thought about race. We were just friends. The city I bought my first house in was a mix of races and my son was 1 of only 2 white kids to make the city league football team. He grew up not caring about skin color. I thought that racism was going to be something that was only taught in history books. I never thought we'd still be talking about it today. We shouldn't be. I thought that we learn history so we never repeat the mistakes of the past. It seems like the younger generations are being taught the wrong message or something.

    Son we did have progress for a time. Growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s in my neighborhood were black and white families. Probably 20% black and 80% white. Our families all worked. The kids played together everyday outside after school. Barbecues on the weekends. Thursday night poker night. As a kid I just remember the respect we were commanded to give every adult. Didn’t matter your frickin color. We were all disciplined the same way. Either the belt, the back of the hand or hard work outside. All the moms stayed home and all the dads worked whether it was one two or three jobs. And you know what I still have buddies from then both black and white and we all recall the same. Wasn’t perfect but it was the blueprint for stability for character for hard work. The biggest memory of all was the Faith and continued reminder by all to thank God daily. Prayer before meals, before bed was standard. We didn’t shy away from it. It was in our core.

      I grew up in the same period in an area about 60/40 white and black. When I think back on that time, all were doing better than now. Yes, racism was real and there was redlining. Nevertheless, economic opportunity was there, home ownership was within reach and decency and civility were the norm. Most of us had stay at home moms, our neighborhoods and schools were safe. Those with low incomes could still afford a decent life. Yes, we were all told to respect our elders and held to basic Christian standards, and not only by our parents. Sadly, I no longer recognize our country.

    I was raised in the late 80's, early 90's. I went to a racially mixed school district. We didn't give any thought to a person's color. We were taught to judge a person's actions. If anyone judged a person by their color, they were considered ignorant. We were taught to live MLK's dream. We did...until we started hearing rumblings of this current racial nonsense coming from the younger generations beginning in the 20-teens.

      can't count the amount of times I have to remind people what MLK wanted for all people! Its like did you not hear the message? did you not learn from the past? Or, is there something about equality that doesnt sit well within you?

    What he said about wanting us to be envious.
    Envy = you want to also have what someone else has.
    Jealousy = you want what someone else has INSTEAD of them having it.

    • @Animekirk
      @Animekirk 9 дней назад

      Jealousy and envy are synonyms. They mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably. Any differences in interpretation of these words are made up in your own head.

    • @JuliannaCharlton
      @JuliannaCharlton 9 дней назад

      @@AnimekirkTechnically, they are not synonyms, though you are correct in that they are USED as such. “Senile,” for example, means old, but people have used it incorrectly for at least the past forty years and now the “meaning” is dementia. There are many more words whose meanings morph over time. @repsaknvek is correct. Your statements are moving toward being common, but the words have two very different meanings. :)

    During the 90s when the Chicago bulls won the championship, Hispanic,blacks, whites, Asians, whatever, in the streets hugging one another, and in cars, high fiving each other, with our windows rolled down, and not one time did we riot like a bunch of savages!! 3 times it happened. But that itself proved just how united we were as a community!!! Those days made us so happy!! Then my cousin married Scottie Pippin!! We didn’t care what race was part of our family, we were happy with my cousin and her happiness!! She had 4 kids with Scottie, although the marriage didn’t last it lasted for over 2 decades!! Point is, my parents succeeded as first generation immigrants. Both graduated college! Then we followed after them!! America is anything you choose it to be! It can be your salvation, or your death!!

    This subject actually really gets me emotional. I grew up in the 70s and 80s in a town on Long Island that was probably about 50% white/ 30% Black 0:03 There was some spotty racial tension. I feel it went both ways. But here is the thing…
    The differences between people were actually cultural differences that both black-and-white people thought were cool. I remember going to my friends houses on Christmas because I thought collard greens were delicious. I remember them coming to my house because they never had a chance to eat lasagna at their house. I Remember using the bathroom and there was always cocoa butter around and I love the way it smelled so I would rub it on my arms. The decorations around the house and the art that was on the walls was different than what was at my house. I knew it was because they were black, but it was cool seeing things that were different than what I was used to. I’m pretty certainly they felt the same way when they came to my house. Today, if I say things about differences, I’m considered a racist. It’s just so stupid. It does exactly the opposite of what we supposedly want. I’m not a person of color so I don’t really know what was going on in their head, but it just seemed like we were all focused on working doing well in school and making friends. It really wasn’t any more complicated than that.

    JoJo, it is good to see your father did an outstanding job raising you to the amazing young man you are today. I have watched you and your father for a while now and it is such a relief that there is still hope for our youth. As a vet, I have seen the culture of present day with young men of all races being influenced by social media and music in the military. It is very toxic and erodes the foundation of comradery, community, and neighborly love for one another. You have helped me see new avenues to help approach and educate them to be a better person and see through the smoke of modern lies. I hope you are able to reach more young people to help open their eyes to the truth and reality in the world for a better future. I applaud your strong independent mindset and free thinking. We need more young men to think this way. Keep up the good work and may God bless you. Maintain the narrow path my friend.

    As far as the "I want freedom" thing, they don't mean they want to be truly free, that means they want to be allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want, at everyone else's expense, whether it's legal or not, without any consequences. They don't want freedom to create a good life, which they all have, they want freedom from laws to "do what thou wilt" without punishment for breaking them.

    Racism is much worse today than when I was growing up in the 90s. I was always excited to meet anyone, ask them what country their ancestors were from, learn about them and their cultures.
    Now it's an insult to ask someone "what they are".
    Cultural appreciation is only just starting to make a come-back. People wanted to be offended over anything for the past decade - at least.
    Here, we should all be legal, American, law abiding citizens.

    "There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self."
    ~Ernest Hemingway~
    Excerpt from the movie "Glass"
    There are unknown forces that don’t want us to realize what we are truly capable of. They don’t want us to know the things we suspect are extraordinary about ourselves are real. I believe that if everyone sees what just a few people become when they wholly embrace their gifts, others will awaken. Belief in oneself is contagious. We give each other permission to be superheroes. We will never awaken otherwise. Whoever these people are who don’t want us to know the truth, today, they lose.
    Being a victim of the past robs you of being a hero for your future.. choosing to believe you're oppressed or a victim won't make you or your life important or special, but choosing to believe that you can achieve anything you put your mind to with hard work, determination and perseverance, is definitely a start to building yourself and your life into something important and special.. STAY BLESSED NOT STRESSED ❤😊
