Losing a match at Empire Wars kind of doesnt bother me as much as a regular match because the connection to your Town is not as strong cause you didnt build it from scratch
@@Roel93 it's not a waste, I honestly like the balance where we take time to understand our gold positions, walling capability, and stratergisinv accordingly whether I can go 2 tc or 3tc in castle or maybe even feudal aggression, and have a basic knowledge of how to exploit opponents map as well. Here in EW you are just blind for the first minute atleast even if you decide to scout opponent immediately. So kinda have to agree with Hera, there is very little.room for improvisation. You go with a strat before even knowing your opponents.

@@Roel93 well, action is the benefit that comes at the cost of proper planning and strategising(ofc we still need game knowledge to play EW not just micro), and that's a price some are not willing to pay. So it has it's advantages and disadvantages. But calling dark age time as wasted time is by no means a proper argument I must say. It's not like the same game without dark age which itself speaks for the role of dark age in aoe.
How2EW: 1. Pick Vikings 2. Go 2 archery ranges 3. Add few farms 4. Aim for fast imp 5. Beat out Hira and win RBW4 6. Some spanish streamer will call you Larry The Kid
How about a video explaining the monastery and those techs. Also, one for when to make keeps and bombard towers, or just the university techs in general.
Hi, Hera. I think it’s very nice to watch video like this because it has a specific topic to discuss and you really provide detailed information about it. It’s time consuming but definitely worth it to make a video about something intentionally, rather than simply adding titles to some video clips. (My English is not that good, might be hard to understand)

Your opponent had huns, so they could not build a house wall. That might have been the reason for the stone wall. 7:48 I think a gate placed over an existing palisade should not replace the palisade until you start actually building it (just like what was changed for building over tree stumps recently). Until this is done, the solution is to put the gate behind the existing wall, and then delete the wall when that's done. Or at least wait until your villager is nearby and ready to start building.
Does Empire Wars level the playing field to some degree? We know villager creation early can easily decide games (snowball effect). Also since almost all civs chosen in tournament play are eco friendly will Empire Wars create a greater diversity of civs selected? Lastly, does Empire Wars get to the action faster? I have watch plenty of casters start talking about anything and everything because both towns are booming.
Don't think so. Most players struggle heavily at Castle Age and Early Imp as you don't have build orders for that and depend solely on good decision making + good macro/micro. So yeah, there will always be a very significant skill gap.
Only mode I play. Can't be arsed with Dark Age, stopped playing AoE2 for years because of Dark Age. Seems like palisade wall and scout raids into fairly fast castle is always the way to play feudal (posted before watching).
Literally everyone does scout rush so I just immediately make spears. If his scouts don't arrive after a minute, just scout for archers and make skirms (archery range should already be up). Opponent always wastes tons of resources and never pays off.
To your last statement: Not really. Scout rush is the strongest strat IMO. I went all in 4-6 stables scouts as magyars and ended the game in feudal itself... My opp got upto castle age but he couldn't do anything. His 1-2 knights died to my 15 scouts xD
How viable is fast castle? Walling minute 1, market instead of stable or archery range and then rush up to Castle Age? Stables and upgrades on the way up, and then push out with knights against the opponent's feudal units?
Its got two stages of viability: 1. Yes, but no, because both of you are doing it. 2. Maybe,. but no because the other guy is trying to fully rush you down with military production while you tried to fast castle. You can do it but you're not gonna have a good success rate as your rank goes up.
Good Idea for a Video! Really helpful :) The first time I played EW, I played Magyar cav archer (and added knights later) and my opponent pike siege and he/she destroyed me. I have no Idea how to counter that. Any tipps? :)
Switch to light cav, crank up the food eco, lower cav archer production, keep them safe and just run in the light cav every time to snipe the siege. And if you can spare the light cav, try raiding.
@@Roel93 hmm but wouldn't the light cav die to the pikes? I mean, my knights couldn't get through. I read somewhere that longswords/champions would be good in that situation. What do you think about that? Can't really judge how they'd do, when the opponent also has scorps as well.
I feel like you need some mangonels and scorps of your own to fight pike siege If they make loads of pikes then yes swordsmen are fine with that Or just wall/castle and raid with the cav
@@brianabraham8726 Losing knights is terrible but losing light cav doesn't matter. It's trash that trades for his gold units. The pikes on their own can't advance if you have cav archers to kite. I doubt a champion switch would work. It takes time and resources to do the switch and it's countered by a very simple scorpion switch as you said. Also, he can just run in his spears into your champs and sacrafice them as a meatshield for the onagerfire. Spear spam is infinite, champions become more expensive as gold runs out.

A few spears into scouts yourself is probably the safest choice to maintain vision and distract early ranged unit rushes
