The thing is with golden boy is that once you played as long as he has now the same game over and over it becomes boring and repetitive. Once you get bored with it you start playing differently just to keep it different lol. No longer being competitive but massa piecing it I would say. I've been playing this game since release and it can be boring playing competitive. For these guys it is their job though. lol. It's going to work literally.

This is a must see game of 2024, it's crazy to see the pros lose - it seemed like you Hera were playing really good this game. I bet if you guys did a rematch; and you and Viper both agree to double-rush an enemy you could win. (being sure to plant tower/castle on their TCs to make sure you actually keep them down) (human players are much better than AI in 'near-death recovery').

One factor I think many forget is each player gets 6 team bonus's. Outpost bonus, monstary works faster, CA train faster, knight +2 LOS, free lama, scouts +2 los

wow Orange played so well. He was clearly behind and up against a stronger army with hera micro. But he played really defensive and bought a lot of time for his team, always keeping his army safe.
You can tell that this fellow and his teammate have more practise by looking the numeric numbers in the bottom right corner

They should try this with a civ that has a power unit, like elephants. Even towards the end Hera had a good amount of res. Cav archers are great at winning fights but just not a powerful enough unit to steamroll someone's base.
Maybe Khmer or the new Persians would be good here. I always associated TheViper with elephants anyway.

I wonder if one of you ought to go for a boom into hordes of raiding units while the other has some feudal/early castle army. Cav archer are great for castle-age raiding but they require a ton of micro. They're not that great for hampering multiple players at once. I dunno if hussar spam, eagles, or goth barracks littering the map would be most effective. And I dunno if any of it is truly viable.

I want to know why ballistics doesn't come in earlier. go two archery ranges instead of three until you have ballistics. It seems like his early kill count would have tripled with that.

I agree with viper though. I am currently 1,100 elo, and as insanely good as y’all are, I don’t think you could beat six of me probably four though.
I think 5 is the best shot. You will be able to beat 4 no problem, and 6 is just to much pop, but 5 might be a happy medium.

2v 6 is much harder than 1 v 3, team bonuses stack up and having access to 1200 pop against 400 is insane
Also, while Pros can easily defeat an opponent in 1V1, they're not THAT much better than 1400 elo players since said players have mastered the art of build orders and make only 1 mistake per game (Pros such as Viper make almost no mistakes, and if they do, they can quickly identify it), getting more Villagers than said Pros, smashing them with infallible synergy in such a scenario.
I think Hera's idea got too ambitious. If he's to face off against the best of the best (again, the gap is only really noticeable in a 1v1) with Viper by his side, he should do a 2v3, or a 2v4 for some challenge. It's kinda annoying to see these Randos crush people you actually know and enjoy watching every single time due to a challenge that of course the Pros were going to lose.

Yeah the amateurs get 4 extra team bonuses instead of just 2 and also can probably pick in redundant way to crush any possible late game comp from 2 with just half of their team functioning. Pretty surprised they didn’t take a camel civ or goths for pocket pretty sure Huns Mongols has a really hard time with either late game.
@@torri776 even the pros make dozens of small mistakes every game, I don't know where that notion of 1400 elo players have mastered build orders (not even close to correct) and they making 1 mistake per game came from. And none of these players are even 1400.
Also why do you want your favourite players to win so bad? Why was it annoying? Wasn't the video fun still? They seemed to be having fun, you don't need to win every single game to have fun. Would you rather see pro players crush 1k elo players while getting paid by said players to crush them? What a weird concept.
And I wouldn't even say this concept is impossible. They were very close to winning, but for some reason Hera tunnel visioned into taking orange out at all costs, when clearly after getting the first 10-15 villagers he could have focused on the next guy. Viper was raiding everyone the entire game as you could see on the minimap, and Hera stayed in his own base mostly, and still ramming orange 48 minutes into the game. And even then they were still having fun. I struggle to understand every angle of this comment.

What I love with AOE 2 pro players : most of them are super chill, humble, kind, and do not go into pointless fights. Hera and Viper are rivals, and yet they respect and appreciate each others. All fun and positive. This is what video games should all be about!

He definitely seemed to have the harder go of it, red and green were in or around his base for pretty much the whole game.

I know you guys don´t like much when we involve the topic of "money" but that´s a perfect way to get extra income. Many Many players like me would pay to play with one of you guys. And it would be fair trade. You don´t become so good without working your archers off.

Without question some of the most interesting and exciting AOE2 content I've ever seen. The type of approach and communication of strategy is thrilling to watch and listen to. Would love to see this regularly!

Yeah, this is not the right game to try this on. You can go 2v6 on 1st person shooters all day long. But games like these rely way less on skills, so even if you're the best player in the world it's not enough to close the gap.
Nice game, but it was quite obvious when you showed the oppo elos. They have 1100 and 1200s in there. 2v6 would realistically work only if you were against all sub 1000 elo i think.
6:00 yup hardest thing about AI is how if you attack with mixed army vs mixed a
AI army. AI will sometimes attack every cav wuth spears, every archer with skirms... etc so every counter unit will be countering every unit you have even if yiu have 200 pop army.
This is what I’m talking about, two of the best guys coming together for some insane content, love this collab hope to see more in the future, you guys are my idols and I hope you guys never go anywhere!

Fun game. It seemed winnable until early imp. Rams might be meta for clearing high elo players on closed maps but remember that these are 1100 and 1200 players who often buckle under smaller raids. Maybe if he moved on earlier from orange (who was forever low eco already) and briefly harassed gray and purple's eco he slows them down enough to help viper win his side.
Kinda knew you weren't going to succeed, 2v6 with those ratings is crazy man. I doubt you'd have won a 2v5.

The funny things with non-pro players is, that you can destroy their entire base and slaughter 99 % of their population.
Then an ally will come around and gift them 500 of every recourse and they escape with one villager and build a new tc behind their allies.
Then they restart building up.
If orange was being played by the Viper and he was going to be attacked like this by 2 other pro players he would have called it already, but not so with Intermediate players.
You really have to kill and get every single shitty villager. You can't "beat" them, you have to "slaughter" them. 11 😂

Orange really took it for all of them but he didn't resign and kept his presence known so the rest of the team could slowly crawly forward and eventually destroy.
It makes me happy to see two of the best in the game (the best period?) so friendly. 🤝

i played this game for 10 years when i was kid and i did not know i could push the wildlife with my scout to the center..we used t play this 5 v 5 on Lan when it came out.And it was 10 hours a day for 10 years :D basically half my life :D
1.1k elo too strong for this format. Should be interesting to see a 3v5 but your 3rd player not a pro (Roxy maybe?)

For comparison, is 1100 about the level you need to be to consistently beat Extreme AI? At ~950 I can usually beat hard but often get wrecked by hardest

haha. I remembered a match in 2003, me against 7 friends. I was an active player in a strong clan in Brazil, I played frequently in the zone, I had a rank of 1900+ (ok, not much, but my friends challenged me although they had never played multiplayer). I chose the team island map, to give them time to settle in (btw today I think it might have been advantageous for me). Anyway, I invaded their island and started destroying them. However, suddenly they appear with cobra car. So I lost. I didn't see that they left the cheat active. Anyway, they all know I would have won if it weren't for that.
This game has a level of complexity that really have a big gap between those who play only offline and those who play ranked multiplayer.

@Hera absolutely love this kind of game. My buddies and I are super low elo so we do this with AI. 3v5, 2v6, along those lines. We like land nomad and just making a big unified base. Anyway, massively fun to watch this. Can't wait for more!
Mongols have the Magudai that are op against ur trebs + they have 30% more hitpoints with their Spette lancer. Pretty balanced

Aaaaha this is super fun, viper jumping onboard (with reservations) is a very nice addition. This could become a thing!
Something I think made a huge difference here were orange and grey staying in it. Both, esspecially orange, could have called it reasonably, but haning around as a pest helped.
At key moments Hera would have been far more free to hit purple if these guys weren't causing trouble, which could have shifted it to 2/3.

1100 its Intermediate ? I thought its more like 1500. They played so passive, grey did nothing whole game, I thought it will be easy win, but 6 players its 6 players
I think you would win vs 6 medium players also playing alone ... LOL. Play vs me and 3 medium friends and you're gone.
