The baton is handed over to the next generation. You will play ABBA to your kids & so the phenomenon will continue until the end of time.
Greatly stated!
Excactly so!
@@lenaengell8528 Yes! They might last longer thru time than any other band/group!
@@greg2976 I seriously bealive that you are right here. Especially since they have had a comback after 40 years.
Agnetha the blonde can certainly play the piano, and prior to ABBA was arguably the most well known of the 4, having several self penned big hits in Sweden
No one can dislike this song! It is amazing!
A little info for you guys. Benny Andersson, the bearded keyboard player, is behind most of the melodies and production. At the time (I think he still does) , he was always acquiring every new synth. He was also behind the keyboard/piano/production in both Mamma Mia films to make sure they got the sound right. ABBA has always been very protective of their back catalog. Believe it or not, they still use the same drummer and guitar player from the 80's albums and both Mamma Mia films minus the bass player, who sadly passed away just before MM2. You have many gems ahead of you guys!! Enjoy and greetings from Spain
Madonna borrowed the soundtrack with permission from ABBA in her own song ” Hung Up”
True only the second time Benny and Bjorn gave permition to sample their music.
This really shows Angnetha’s range. One of the best. Tyler it is so awesome you like ABBA. I have to recommend “The Visitors.”
It’s pure magic when Agnetha and Frida harmonize.
Try 'Move On'. This song is less known as ABBA never released a music video or single on it.. hence less people realise about it until the last few years, and everyone is so stunned by its quality, singing, harmonies, music arrangements, etc.
Try it. It's pure gem👍👍👍
Wow - I didn't know this! That's one of my favorites (and *'Lay All Your Love On Me'* - :)-
I cannot understand why?
ABBA= LEGENDS. THIS TRACK, A POWERFUL MONSTER OF A DANCE DISCO CLASSIC FLOORFILLER. NO ONE CAN SHUT ABBA DOWN. MY FAVE BAND SINCE 1974 😘😘😘😘
remember that ABBA is a swedish pop group, the name is an acrónim with initials of their names, and initialy was two couples:
A Agnetha blonde singer
B Björn guitarist songwriter
B Benny keyboard songwriter
A Anni Frida brunette singer
"Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever "
In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has
ABBA was preparing his 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the Official video
There is an only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio,
including staff musicians (bass guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector)
The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of keyboards, is what Madonna used for her hit
"Hung Up" (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits)
Surely for the latter, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on RUclips (behind only "Dancing Queen", which has already surpassed 500 million views)
"Gimme gimme gimme" was released as a single and in the álbum "Greatest Hits 2"
it was #3 in UK, don't succes in US
Anni-Frid, not Anni Frida. Although she is more commonly known as “Frida”.
‘If It Wasn’t For the Nights’ is a great album track that was never released as a single.
Hey BJORN... I c u r mixing with the fans (wink) (grin)
“I’m a Marionette” is an underrated gem you should give a listen to. And “Eagle” is a good one too, but make sure it’s the 5 min 50 sec version since there’s a cool guitar solo that most people miss out on in the shorter version.
That entire album, called simply The Album, is on a planet of its own. They outdid themselves on that one.
You are SO right. Those two songs are fabulous. I would like to add "The king has lost his crown".
That's one of the best ever songs and works on many levels.
Other songs to listen to would be "If It Wasn't For The Nights", "The Winner Takes It All", "Super Trouper", "Bang-A-Boomerang", "Knowing Me Knowing You", Chiquitita
They've now done The winner takes it all and Chiquitita if you haven't seen those ones!
It's heartwarming to see someone with infectious enthusiasm. Keep up the good work.
If It Wasn’t for the Nights 🙌🏼
Try Dancing Queen! It is Abba's signature song and (argueably) the most brilliant pop song ever. A masterpiece 🙌
Minor correction, ABBA won Eurovision once in 1974 (Waterloo)- the only time they were there. They tried in 1973 (Ring Ring) but came 3rd in Sweden's selection that year.
My personal favourite - The Winner Takes It All
Slipping through my fingers and my love my life are also two good ones (but not up tempo ones)
ANOTHER AWESOME ABBA REACTION. Like it or not, guys, you've now become an ABBA reaction channel. 😂 WE NEED MORE!
One of ABBA's greatest, most perfect records! ♥
The fact that Madonna sampled it for Hung Up- one of the greatest Pop records ever- and it was one of the best-selling records of that time says it all. Such a timeless record!! ♥
I am always missing something when i hear this shortened version (3:36 min.). The original version from the album is 4:45 min. and has this fantastic intrumental part towards the end with the high voices in the background. Absolutely worth listen to again. ruclips.net/video/v9cAAjAJuhI/видео.html
Agnetha (on-YET-ha), the blonde soprano, was married to Björn on guitar, who wrote most of the lyrics. Anni-frid (aka. Frida), the red-head mezzo-soprano was married to Benny on piano (who wrote most of the music).
Here is a selection of some of their best songs…

Thank you for the Music
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do (written for Eurovision 1973, but didn’t win)
Ring, Ring
People Need Love (their first hit)
"I've been waiting for you" live in austrailia is the best version....Harmony is magic.
I love you two so much!! This is, an awesome song … LOVE your enthusiasm . It’s the same as mine in 1979 when this was released.
In this video - Agnetha is the blonde singer, Anni-frid (Frida) is the brunette singer, Benny is the bearded keyboardist, and Bjorn is the unbearded guitarist (but in current times, he now has a beard too).
They use real instruments but the flute in this case is via a synthesiser.
Some songs to explore:
Me & I
The Visitors
The Piper
Move On
Hole in your Soul
Head Over Heels
When All is Said and Done
On and On and On
As Good as New
Andante Andante
Like An Angel Passing Through My Room
That’s Me
Btw, great reactions! You guys bring so much liveliness and fun into your videos.
Greetings from Singapore (it’s not in Scandinavia, but Southeast Asia btw 😉).
Hey guys. Great to hear you are enjoying the Abba stuff. Most of their releases are incredible. Of the lesser known tracks ,my all time favourite is EAGLE...so mystifying...also try MOVE ON...heavenly...there's also WHEN I KISSED THE TEACHER....I was eternally hooked with since then....will be forever....
They won the Eurovision once in 1974 and became a World wide sensation following.
You probably did hear the tone at the beginning from Madonna. She used it for her song "Hung up".
Hi! As a great ABBA-fan and a proud Swedish woman of the late sixties, I have listened to all the albums many times. Lately I often listen to older songs and preferably those that aren't well known or played through out the years. I made a little list of good songs you can listen to and enjoy. As you can hear I like uptempo... 😉😄 I think there's only one slower one. Here they are!
Rock me
Eagle
Man in the middle
King Kong song
Does your mother know
Hole in your soul
One of us
That's me
When I kissed the teacher
Kisses of fire
Hey, hey Helen
Thanks for the recommendations! We appreciate it!
For non mainstream there are two live songs in a row with brilliant electric energy from a performance at Wembley. They lead into one another. Does your Mother Know and Hole in your soul live at Wembley.
If you want a lesser known song but it's super catchy - try "I Am The City"! Bouncy, full of energy and they sound fantastic!
I love your reviews of ABBA ! Review "Knowing Me, Knowing You"! It reflects when they were breaking up in their relationships with each other and it is a great song, one of my favorites and you can see their emotions in the video they made back then!
I believe Benny used the synth too. Only it wasn't that common when ABBA began. It became every ones intstrument early eighties.
Not sure if there is an unknown abba song, but I think The Piper and Under Attack are not as commonly played. Another fun thing to check out. After Abba broke up Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (abba composers) wrote a song for Murray Head, called in one night in Bangkok, and you can totally hear the abba sounds in that even though it's not abba.
One Night In Bangkok is from the musical Chess which Benny & Bjorn wrote with Tim Rice other songs include I Know Him So Well, Anthem, and Nobody's Side
Hey guys, love the kids diggin' ABBA. Other guys have mentioned the hits but for lesser known the best is "The Day Before You Came". What makes it interesting is the vagueness of the outcome. Like many ABBA songs it tells a story, but this one is mysterious, haunting, eerie almost. Enjoy!
Brilliant song, underappreciated in the day, a classic now. Too far ahead of its time maybe
Hey, great reaction guys! I would recommend listening to this song again but the single/album version with the instrumental break on the bridge : ) I never understood why the group released an official video without it.
Sadly Atlantic Records gave you folks in North America a truncated version of this song when it was released. Everywhere else got the full album cut. It's also really weird why UMG/Vevo opted for the short version for the official video. A lot of people , who only know the song by that video, are missing out on the glorious instrumental section with angelic harmonies in the background. ruclips.net/video/ZL93BV9uTAM/видео.html
Agnetha is the blonde and Annifrid is the brünette. The girls don’t play instruments but they smash it with their vocals and create a third sound 😀. They always talk about LIFE and keep the spirit joyful and upbeat as if it’s nothing to be mournful / sorrowful for . Just LIVE AND LEARN FROM LIFE ❤️.
Agnetha plays piano, and has done so at some Abba concerts. Though not on any Abba studio recordings, as far as I know. 🙂
Agnetha can play and make songs on piano 🙂
Agneta Plays the piano, and have written many songs.
The name ABBA comes from the first letters of the band members' names:
Agnetha (the blonde one)
Benny (keyboards)
Björn (guitar)
Anni-frid (the darker-haired one who also recorded songs as "Frida")
Neither of the ladies played any instruments while they were performing in ABBA, concentrating instead on their greatest strength: their vocals.
I would also like to recommend two more ABBA songs for you to listen to: Knowing Me, Knowing You, which was one of their earlier hits, and "The Day Before You Came" which was one of their last two singles before they broke up in the early 80s.
Keep up the good work.... and do me a big favour: introduce your lady friend! I still don't know who she is or what she's called. Thanks!
Her name is Marissa, I know I’m a year late, but still 😅
Don’t forget to listen to SOS. A real pop tune that many thinks is the best pop tune ever.
This is an exciting channel, love your ABBA stuff. ABBA have around 100 songs. Loads of tracks of you to discover
Agnetha ( anyetta) the blonde gal, plays piano. When younger before Abba days she was well known in Sweden as a solo artist who penned her first album aged 16yrs old.
A good Abba disco song is voulez vous, you could also try kisses of fire, why did it have to be me, when I kissed the teacher.
It's heartwarming to see another generation appreciating their music. Keep the discovery going.
Fantastic songs not released as singles are "Eagle" and "The Visitors". They are also the two longest songs ABBA did. (I think....)
"If it wasn't for the nights" joins the 5-minutes-party as well.
Watching you guys listening to this song for the first time it's like we have gone back in time and it's the mid 1970s.
1979
Anni Frida..the brunette.. She is a bonifide Princess. "Princess Anni-Frid, Dowager Countess of Plauen"
Madonna was permitted to borrow the sound for... one of her songs. Let's see... Oh _'Hung up.'_
-I don't think the girls ever played any instruments, but the boys did some vocals.
-There's lots of good songs that wasn't big hits. Lots of interesting experimental music as well. You get tons of recommendations but if you wanna go with relatively unknown songs you could try: _"If it wasn't for the nights, Summer night city(disco,) Hole in your soul(rock,) Hey hey Helen(glam-rock,) Andante Andante, Eagle, I'm a marionette(progressive rock,) Move on, put on your white sombrero, the visitor, the piper("baroque pop" xD,) the day before you came(melancholic pop,) slipping through my fingers."_ All pretty good. Some are good live-songs, others obscure gems... lastly there's the "King Kong song." :D
Andante, andante don't get enough love.
Great reaction again guys
The blonde is Agnetha and the brunette is Anna-Frid.
They share the lead on different songs.
Also Madonna sampled this for her song Hung Up.
They won Eurovision in 1974 with Waterloo.
Try Dancing Queen, Lay all your love on me, Take a chance on me, thank you for the music, super trooper.
*Anni-Frid.
I love 'Under attack.' I think it was their last video. Vocals are amazing
The name of the game, is really a masterpiece, but not so well known in your part of the world.
I'm not sure about that. I think that was a world wide release. US for sure.
They won the eurovision only one time and the rif you hear is used by the madonna song hung up. All the people that reacting and bring on that you listen to other abba songs are so right but there are to many beautiful songs from them just to pick on off them. They even gave a performance to the king of Sweden with the song dancing queen were they have been honoured for there music. Just about three weeks ago they launched two new songs after 40 years.
And then where is Sweden: Sweden is a country in europe and it's laying above Denmark and between norway and finland.
I hope that all you young people loves the music that abba brought to us because i see so many young people reacting to this music that belongs in the 70's at most. Keep listening to all the beatuful bands/singers from the past and enjoy it so as i did in my youth.
Greetings from the netherlands
Madonna sampled that intro for her album "Confessions on the dance floor Hung up ! in fact AbbA been sampled so many times by other artists!
ABBA has 20+ hits, so you have much to listen to. There is absolutely no bad ABBA song.
Madonna asked ABBA if she could use a sample from this song for her coming hit "hung up", and they said yes, thats very rare.
If you want to listen to a lesser known ABBA song with the added benfit of Benny singing the lead, try Suzy Hangaround. It was meant as a song against bullying among school children but got misunderstood by some, so Benny cut it from their playlist - and never sang the lead again.
I remember when this came out how it was one of the first songs that had that thumping drum beat.
This song was recorded on my 3rd birthday actually. Used to hear ABBA and Boney M all the time when i was a child because my mother did! Madonna just covered the hook of this masterpiece. And believe me, nearly every song they released was a hit.
THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL ..... You won't regret it! :)
Hey Guys .. Defiantly react to “Me and I” a catchy tune from their Super Trouper album. A very underrated song for sure!
They only won Eurovision in 1974, but Sweden won multiple times.
ABBA remains.. with every Generation
Some of the lesser-known songs I like: Thats me, Hole in your Soul, as good as new, Elaine, My love my life, The Visitors (dark!), The day before you came (their former latest '82), lay all your love on me (popular dance track in 1980)
Try "So Long" a glam rocker from -75. It´s one of their earlier stuff, less known. It was before they really took off and hit the charts all over the world. There´s no official video for the song but there´s a televised performance, ABBA - Made In Sweden For Export.
If you want a non mainstream song try "I am the city", it's so early 80's. Yet so ABBA.
The men produce and make the music and play instruments, the women are singing and contributes to the songs with their own ideas .
my favourite ABBA song.
We were blessed to grow up in the 70's and hear this as it evolved. Even then ... many of us knew it would last forever.
Americans and knowledge about geography ... lol (Some think Amsterdam is the capital of Kopenhagen .. An old Joke here) But you are fun to watch! Please Go on with the ABBA journey!
Check out ABBA Live Wembley 1979
"Does Your Mother Know and ,Hole In Your Soul" this is so goood !
Lesser known songs to check out. The haunting The Day Before You Came, Eagle, Tiger, The Visitors, Kisses of Fire, Lay All Your Love on Me. Actually the last one's pretty well known but you'll dance your tits off to it anyway!!! 😅
Frick'n LOVE this one!
Agnetha is a more than adequate pianist.
Very much enjoy your reactions guys ...thnx 👍🏻👍🏻.
This version of Gimme ... is the radio edit. The actual song is available on Gold. Have you heard that track yet? Reviewed it? If you haven't then please consider revisiting Gimme ... and reviewing the actual song in its entirety. There's an entire interlude with vocals, and also instrumentation alone , which injects so much more into this great song .
That's a cool song.
Hi guys! 🙋♀️ Nice channel! 👍Agneta is the blonde woman and Annifrid is the dark one. Benny is the one who usually plays piano and Björn guitar.
This is a masterpiece ♥
Hola chicos, ABBA eran geniales , Agnetha y Frida tenían unas voces geniales, sigan escuchando más 💪
ABAA First - The Eurovision Song Contest ( ESC ) is very famous in Europe and coming up every year since the year 1956 - ABBA won the ESC in 1974 for Sweden with their song "Waterloo" and this was the start of their career - would love you to listen to the Album "Waterloo" and maybe you want to react to their performance from the ESC in 1974 :) - would be great - thanks guys
Just giving you a couple of suggestions of lesser known songs, "My Love, My Life", "Does Your Mother Know" (In which Bjorn sings lead) and "I've Been Waiting For You".
Love your enthusiasm! Great music for great fans of all generations!
We're glad you enjoyed watching!
The whistle (that everyone lives) is a synth. He's playing it right in the beginning.
Not only synth, but sinth+ violins in unison
...So into the rabbithole we go ;-) Try "My Love My Life" . Its far from any of their most well known songs..But definitely a very, very good one!!!
It was 1 nr hit in belguim en the second most abba hit on Spotify
This is on my Voulez Vous CD. I got the original album when it came out. I was in high school and it was 1979. Here in the states, "Does Your Mother Know" broke the top 20 and was a decent hit. That song is also on this ABBA album I don't have the original album anymore so I don't recall if Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! was part of the original album or a bonus track on the CD I now have. But, this is 1979.
Nearly all the artists..who have sampled ABBA with permission, get a mega hit themselves. = That ABBA Magic touch .👌
"My Love, My Life" is stunning, and sad...
Please react to Move on, Lay all your love on me and also Chiquitita 👌🔥❤️
In Sweden (home country of ABBA) we pronounce ABBA closer to how the US do it, rather than UK. However, still not quite the same. Both A's are pronounced much lighter.
Also, fun fact to make the word Abba even more swedish, there's a company in Sweden with the same name that sells seafood.
The Winner Takes It All next please, you’ll love it…Any chance of some Madonna reactions…Like A Prayer, Vogue, Frozen and Hung Up (which sample Gimme Gimme Gimme) Keyboard hook.
we’ve actually already reacted to that :) ruclips.net/video/xA4HauluUWw/видео.html
@@TylerCreatesContent Got it thanks…another great reaction…you two are hilarious…’I know good eyes’ and you mmm’s, ooooh’s n ahhhh’s are hilarious…😂😂😂
The video version is shorter and leaves out the instrumental break. Check out the full version!
I'm glad that you admit when you've heard the song before (or part of it), that's actually my only requirement for a reaction video, that it is honest :)
Yes, thanks! Tyler and I try to be as honest as possible because neither of us see the point in faking anything :)
@@marissa6805 Grat! Cause unfortunately some people do. When I see someone who don't then I'm just a natural follower :)
@@marissa6805 Yeah, and that is great, because not all think that way. Channels that aren't honest (and you can tell) doesn't get my subscription because, as you say, what would be the point of it for me as a viewer? Obviously the point for the channel to do it would be money, people honestly reacting to famous songs (that at least us from the 80's have heard throughout our life) is gold, because we get a taste for how we reacted when we were young, and that has great appeal - which means that they will probably be successful on RUclips - which means money money money. So thank you for being honest. Sure, some channels might be slipping through my fingers, but at least I try to only subscribe to those that are honest. Puns intended.
Try with the harmonies of Knowing Me, Knowing You, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take a Chance on Me and Chiquita. Very creativity childs🏆🏆
For a real 80's ambiance song try the "The day before you came" but enjoy the more upbeat tunes first of which there are almost an endless list!
The Real Tuesday Weld's cover video of that song is worth watching/listening to ( the aircraft carrier version, not the Felix the Cat animation). It gives new meaning to the term, "feminine pulchritude".
I only recently learned after seeing some comments from BJorn that it is about a MURDER. THe singer is always using subjunctive or conditional clauses, instead of stating that she actually DID things. ALl that because she's not alive anymore to be certain. Its a mind-blowing revelation: "and whistling on the roof I *MUST HAVE HEARD* the sound of rain, the day before you came."
@German Morawski i BELIEVE i LEARNED In the last few years it is basically the words of a (now dead) woman referring to everything that happened before her murderer showed up.. Pretty grim. And yet once you know that little plot point, it all makes sense.
@3:14:
Nope, they didn't. They only took part in the main event once. And they won. Rest ist history.
The girls were only present with their voices. The music itself came from Björn and Benny and a band. And Björn is also the one being responsible for most of the lyrics. That's why the guys earn the biggestshare of the money as well. ABBA is an acronym for the prenames of its members: Agnetha, Björn, Benny & Anni-Frid (short Frida). Agnetha is the blonde girl, Frida the one with reddish-brown hair. Benny always had a beard whereas Björn grew one towards the 80s.
ABBA is also the group that made music videos popular. It kept them in peoples minds whilst they did not have to travel around that much. Agnetha in particular did not like the travelling that much (she was a young mother back then). She still is afraid of flying and not too keen on crowds.
One of my favourite songs is "Me and I". It's not that well-known but a really great one.
Youre asking if some of the girl are playing and Agnetha Fältskog ( Blond ) was wery much playing instrumen`ts - Her Is she playing piano and singing her song " Im Still Alive " // ruclips.net/video/JU1glYHMxnE/видео.html - From ABBA Live At The Wembley Arena In London ( World Tour 1979 - 1980 ) - Before ABBA had Agnetha Fältskog a Lot of Hits on swedish and gearman Lists started at age 16-17 - Agnetha Wrote a lot of her own hits from 1967
You are so cute together even if you are clueless on some facts, but you'll learn :-). You are doing great reactions.
I ordered the Lp. Hope it goes nr 1 in most countries.
If you want to try two of their less known gems, try The Day Before You Came or Slipping Through My Fingers!
Agnetha can play the guitar and the piano, but doesnt in ABBA, except one song on stage during the 79 UK tour at wembley
Some of the best:Fernando,Dancing Queen,S.O.S,Hasta Mañana (Spanish Version),Waterloo,Súper Trouper,I Have A Dream,Thank You For The Music, Chiquitita,Move On,Lay All Your Love On Me,Money Money Money,Knowing Me Knowing You,One Of Us,Eagle.
The Blond is Agnetha, and she plays the piano
Madonna sampled the music from this song for her single Hung Up (2009) . You might've heard that over the years too.
In the 90's to 2000's there was a group called the A*teens that covered Abba's songs.
