    Hello Frank, Thank you all your help to the projector repair community! I have some great news! I have gotten my hands on the official Epson projector diagnostic software! The tool is called IPS Tool, and it's referenced in Epson's internal service manuals as the way to perform many diagnostic and repair functions. All I had to do was request access from Epson, mentioning the New York State right-to-repair law. I did need to provide a proof of residence. Let me know if you have any questions!

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  8 месяцев назад

      That is a very kind offer. I have decided to not work on epsons anymore though. It's virtually impossible to get parts, they design them to fail(poor quality optical coating and components) and no service manuals. without proper parts and service manuals, plus the jigs for aligning the optics its not worth it. I actually have the IPS tool. They had it on the european website but unfortunately, without access to parts and service manuals, and epsons continued anti-right to repair designs, its just not cost effective for me to work on them. I wish it was. there are so many broken epsons.

      @@FixitFrank Okay that makes sense. I was also able to get the service manual from them with the same request for what its worth. Unfortunately it appears my issue is the main board which their service manual just says to replace. I'm gonna see if they will give me schematics for their main board. Also it occurs to me that they are legally required to sell parts as well in new york.

    Another great video from Frank!
    Unfortunately good quality and long lasting fans are critical to devices like projectors and servers, unlike common pcs that everything can be exchanged to almost everything the same size. When I started messing around with projectors I thought that projector fans are like computer fans, that everything is compatible with everything the same size, but I found out the hard way that this is untrue. Looking forward to the next one good buddy!

    So I have Epson projector CH-TW8300W
    So when I try to turn it on
    The temp light turn on ones and then turn off
    it doesn’t flash or anything .
    This happen only when I press the power button
    No fan no display, nothing. Just the temp light as I said .. only when I press the power button.
    what do you think is the problem here ?

      hard to say. I don't work on epson anymore. They are a waste of my time to repair. Epson wont sell parts or share service info and the way the construct them, it seems like they want them to break and not be repairable.
      If I had to guess, I would suspect a mainboard failure in your case(without seeing it that is my best guess). Mainboards usually cost more than the projector. Id recommend staying as far away from epson as possible when it comes to projectors. I can't stand them because of how poorly engineered they are for longevity.

    Dear Frank, thank you so much for sharing those videos. Recently my projector ( BenQ HT2150ST ) is stuck at the power up stage. As I connect the power cable, the power indicator turns red then solid orange. After I push the power button, it is flashing green. A beep sound can be heard and the fan is running. After a few seconds, the fans stop and the indicator keeps flashing. Temp and Lamp indicators are off all the time. No light comes out from the lamp. After that, buttons or the remote control cannot even turn off the projector until I plug out the power cable.
    I tried to follow your videos and checked the lamp. Not much dust is found and the lamp seems not burnt out. I bought it 2022 and used it twice a month on average. I emailed BenQ but did not receive a response.
    Any idea or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time! Bowen

    • @FixitFrank

      I'd try another lamp first. 99% of the time its a lamp. At the least you need to know without a doubt that the lamp is good which is why I suggest replacing it. Then check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Without a spinning color wheel you get a lamp error and no lamp ignition.

    • @bowenyang666

      @@FixitFrank Thanks for your reply! I found the color wheel stopped spinning. I pushed it a bit with a cotton swab and my projector came back to life! Thanks again!

      @@FixitFrank Hi Frank, The problem persists. I followed your video and found the color wheel issue. Now no matter how I push the color wheel, it does not spin at all. I got it replaced but the new color wheel does not spin either.. Any thoughts? I guess it could be the color wheel sensor issue or the PCB board? It would be great if you can give me some diagnosis documents. Many Thanks!

    I’ve followed your videos and wondered if you 1) have the part I can purchase and/or I’m able to send to you the following for repair:
    Epson 5040UB / 8300 Projevtor. The optical engine is out as I have the vertical purple lines.
    Thank you!

      Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I will never work on an epson again. Parts are unobtainium, epson won't share service info and the issue you are having would require a part(set of parts) that would exceed the cost of the projector many time over.

    Hey Frank. Great videos, one question unrelateted to this one: do you happen to know whether the color wheel of Optoma HD27 is compatible with the HD29H? Information is scarce.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  9 месяцев назад

      I don't think so. I can't seem to find the HD29H though. Might it be an HD29Darbee? The HD27 is a 6-segment and the HD29Darbee is 5-segments. The HD29 wheels only seem to be about $40 though.

      @k.august531 9 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks for the reply. I'll have to see if taping the ripped marker will fix my problem. I opened it and it has a 6 segment wheel, so maybe HD27's one is compatible. Thanks for the tips

    • @k.august531
      @k.august531 9 месяцев назад +1

      Opened it up further, marker is intact. Still, after bypassing the lamp switch it's definitively the color wheel making the buzzing noise.

    • @FixitFrank

      Id check the metal 'shield' that is behind the wheel that protects the entry to the light tunnel. They tend to warp and could make that sound

    Hey Frank, I’ve got a little issue at a hospital with a Mitsubishi VLT-XD700LP Im hoping you can help with, I’m not too involved with this type of work so haven’t got a clue. The staff say it was working correctly and then got unplugged, once plugged back in it now has both the power and status lights solid red. The manual states that this means the lamp is dead but wondering if there’s any magical fix before I break the bad news and the cost of a new lamp to them 😂

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  18 дней назад +1

      If it tries to start, then errors to the 2 LEDs then the lamp is unable to ignite(or a color wheel failed). If its the lamp, pull it out and look inside the reflector and see if the glass tube is intact. If so, you can try tapping it firmly against a table, almost hard enough that you might break it. That can sometimes shake some of the scale off the arc points inside the arc tube. Its a janky unreliable fix. Its probably new lamp time. They are around $150 for a decent quality. Just stay away from the trash sold on amazon. They make lots of lofty claims and the dead projector pile I have says otherwise to their quality. something else to consider. this is an OLD projector. It may be more cost effective to invest in a newer laser/solid state unit. If funds are a problem, even used lamp based projectors on ebay are around $150-200 for something working and slightly newer than the Mitsi. Hopefully this gives you some direction. Feel free to follow up if you have other questions.

      @ Thank you for the help Frank, funnily enough I actually watched your XD500U video and thought I’d try the lamp life reset before possibly damaging it any further, was worth a shot, and it worked! Not sure for how long, but it displays and works fine currently. Thankyou for your help mate, I really appreciate it.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  5 дней назад

      Ah, so it was out of time. yes the lamp will continue to work but I would replace it soon. If it ruptures inside, it can really damage things. Thats why they use the timer. Not that they think the lamp wont light but that the lamp is nearing the point where it will crack and burst. I doubt its imminently going to burst, but it will sneak up on you.

    I have an Epson home cinema 2150, I went to turn the projector on and heard a loud audible pop within seconds of powering it up. It was off for more than 12 hours prior.
    I figured the bulb went bad, so replaced it even though it didn't appear to be. New bulb made no difference. When it turns on all the fans go to high after about 10 seconds, the lamp goes solid orange, power button blinks blue. After about 45 seconds the fans kick off but everything continues blinking.
    I took everything apart expecting to see something obvious causing the loud popping noise, nothing stood out. Do you have any suggestions of things to take a look at?
    I couldn't find an email if there is a better way to contact you let me know.
    Thanks in advance for any input, love your channel

    Hey Frank, just stumbled upon your videos. I have gotten myself a benq w1070 from ebay for cheap. But sadly there seems to bit of a problem when i try to use it together my my fire tv (second gen box), the beamer hdmi port works fine when using my pc as a source but when i connect it (using the same cable / tried another one too) it does recognize that there is a input source but it just shows black. Do you have any ideas :)?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  6 месяцев назад

      Sounds like a problem/Setting with the FireTV stick if the computer works okay. Probably something DRM related but I can't be sure without seeing it myself. I don't know much about fire sticks though. I'd probably try and reset the fire stick or make sure its set to 1080 or less resolution. If the firestick is trying to run 4K that would cause this. good luck!
