Thank you for commenting! DPI was hands down one of the most pleasant large projector companies to deal with. Most won't even talk to me unless Im a factory authorized repair center. Please pass along how appreciative all of us are in the projector community. I always recommend DPI products when I talk to people who can use them.
@@FixitFrank I just learned that the owner of this exact projector made that statement to me. Said it was better than any of the $35k+ Sim2 projectors.
This was a treat Frank. Seeing this beast of a projector was amazing. After all these plastic toys, this thing is built better than a tank. I guess you really get what you pay for. Also nice beast at 25:50, I see you have an excellent assistant there! Keep it up buddy!!!
My little buddy Larry the cat. He's awesome. Yeah this projector has me reconsidering my dream of a sim2 3 dlp. I might sell my Christie and buy one like this. It was really beautiful to look at.
From Projection field service: The bright colors are because it's laser phosphor. The "cube" thing is the "Light engine" usually just after the integrator rod. Before working on these, do have your class iii laser eye protection. Just a little scattered light, and you're blind for ever 🙂
This is not a laser model. Its lamp based. It uses a 111-100 lamp assembly. I link to the lamp. The Cube is called an illumination module according to the head of service and parts at DPI, that I talked to. It has the bright colors because of the model of color wheel in this model. That was why the customer wanted to use this version. I do have laser eye protection though when I work on laser based devices either projectors or otherwise. I have been working with all sorts of laser devices since about 2008, but they are mostly proprietary and I can't record or share the repairs. You're entirely right about laser scatter. I've seen people get their shirts burned by errant beams.
I work for Digital Projection. Glad to see our support team was helpful.

I was told that this is one of the best 1080p projectors ever made. Awesome.
I'd believe it. The picture on this was absolutely stunning. Between this and the 3 DLP SIm2, I bet they are the best 1080 projectors for sure.

Wow!! Older high end 3 chip DLP's are still sought after among pj junkies LOL. I can see why now thanks for sharing!!!
