    Your repairs are so detailed and to the point you have a class of your own! Nice one again, on a nice machine also!

    Good detective work on finding that dodgy cap......I was expecting a little pop when you turned it back on..lol. I'm always nervous when the main powerboard is exposed and turned on....the camera angle doesn't help showing depth, but we know you know what you are doing. Great fix though. Cheers buddy. Cute cats too. 😊

      I was saying that to someone the other day. Even when I'm sure the power supply is fine, I still get nervous when I turn it on the first time.

    Thanks mate have filed the link, if I develop the same problem. I have have used three bulbs and a set of fans. The bulb cooling fans had to be like for like. It did not accept the generics I tried. Still impressed with the video quality. Thanks for the detailed, clear repair process.

      Oh yeah. Those fans can be picky. It's the status wire that really sets the fan model. Finding replacements can be tough. Thank you for the kind words! Hopefully you'll never need this repair. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Frank! Thank you so much for posting this kind of videos.. I've learn much things just by watching you fixing projectors!
    I'm trying to fix some of these machines too and I'm a little confused about this : I have a Hitachi 3lcd projector with a lot of hours on it.. Blue, green in and out polarizers was completely destroyed, I change the polarizers and the projector work well, no funky colors anymore, that's good!
    The picture look almost fine, I juste don't know why the red color is out of focus, everything is sharp but all the things in the picture that's red looks really cloudy and not sharp at all. The weird thing here is that if I turn the focus out a little bit, the entire picture is unfocused except the red color which then becomes very sharp.. I know the red polarizer is bad too because I have some red glow around the text and everything..
    Anyway can a bad polarizer can cause an entire color focus problem?
    Thanks again for all your videos!
    if you do not have time to answer me I understand perfectly, no problem!

    if you mix up the older of the screws it can mess things up. Sordering can be tricky on these ord style bolds. But when its done right its solid gord.

      Fix it frank optoma hd28hdr new lamp new color wheel blur light comes on flashes a few times then solid lamp light flashing power light. But mind you I just replaced bulb. Also one of the small black squares on the mother board gets very hot fast. (Hot to the touch) but no over heat light. Could that be my issue? Color wheel spins perfect new lamp what gives? How can I send it your way if I'm unable to fix? Would love to have your services available how does your cost work?

    Hello Frank! Great serie of videos, very informative.
    I have a question: I own two identical Optoma EH415ST, one of them suddently lost most contrast, the black are super lifted.
    When projecting black it is very bright.
    The colors are faint but would be fine if there was contrast.
    1: I did reset the Picture setting of both. No change, its not the settings.
    2: I switched the HDMI, no change, its not the signal.
    3: I interchanged the lamps: no change, its not the lamp.
    The projector is washed out no matter the lamp in it. And the lamp is fine in the other projector.
    At this point, with your experience, what do you think would cause a projector to loose black like that?
    Thank you for your help.

      @FixitFrank  Год назад

      Thanks for doing the first few things I was going to suggest. Moving the lamp was the one I suspected the most. But if the issue stays with the projector, you might have a dirty color wheel or dirty optics. That can lead to a washed out black. If you are in the USA and get stuck, I do take in repairs. But check the cleanliness of the color wheel first. Maybe give the problem unit a good internal vacuuming.

      @@FixitFrank cool, and thank you for the answer. Luckily I have two projectors, so will try to interchange the color wheels, see if that's any better. Cheers!

    I just managed to trip on a Sony VPL-FHZ700L for $50 with 18K hours on the bulb. Is there any good place to get a polarizer for this projector without breaking the bank on a used one for parts? I've done small electronics repair for a while and feel relatively confident in being able to replace it.

    Hello, asking for help. I'm trying to fix Sim2 d80e, doesnt't power up from standby and error code is 6 red blinks, can you give any tips?
    Thanks for all the videos!

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  2 месяца назад

      That might be a fan. I'd also look at replacing the capacitors that fail in tbe power supply. I think six blinks is heat related which usually means a bad fan.

Nice colors and everything and there is zero noise . no rattling , no hissing , no nothing and then BAM. projector shuts off . Orange light blinking for power and bulb light red solid. i unplug and replug back in and boot and comes on right away ..i feel no heat around it to justify a thermal shutdown. I even placed a highspeed fan blowing directly at projector and same thing lol stumped

      in that case its possibly the color wheel or color wheel sensor. Flashing amber power and solid red lamp indicates a lamp shut down command was issued by the projector because of a fault.
      My gut says its the color wheel warming up and then failing. Most HD20s are on color wheel 3 or 5 by now. If you take the color wheel sensor off and clean it, that might help. OR if its clean then you likely have the wheel failing.
