I am just starting to watch this because I keep getting notified if I want to upgrade to Windows 11. I just want to know if I have to use Edge or if I can keep using my Chrome browser? That is the main reason I haven't switched yet. I really like Chrome and have so many tabs saved and don't want to lose them. I also wondered if you can switch back and forth between 10 and 11.
Microsoft wants to force everyone to use Microsoft Edge. You aren't required to use it, but MS is heavy handed with this and will try to change your default web browser to MS Edge. A Windows upgrade shouldn't modify your personal files or programs, but its always a smart idea to have a backup. I suggest signing into a Google account to save your bookmarks and saved passwords to your Google account. You can also export bookmarks to a file and keep them in a safe space (like Google Drive or flash drive) and you can then restore them in case your bookmarks get wiped for some reason. It is possible to have 2 Windows installations on a computer. This is known as a multi-boot system. I don't really recommend doing this if you aren't tech savvy as it is very easy to accidentally delete the wrong partition and loose all your data. If you really want a multi-boot system, you can probably take your PC to a reputable PC repair shop and ask them to install a second operating system. I believe Windows gives you about 7 - 11 days to downgrade back to the previous Windows install, but I wouldn't count on it.
