Do you need coding if you replace with a new ESL?

Yes the new ESL and existing ignition switch will need to be programed to work together .

Sorry to bother you, but what type of screwdriver is it that you used to remove the first three screws that you had to remove on the bottom in addition to the hood latch? Is it a T something?

The hood latch had a Phillips, the other screws I can't remember what size T driver

There is a $10 electric motor that went bad in that ESL and the dealer charges almost $3,000 to repair this... Yes German engineering
