Dear Jill - I have been a fan of your RUclips channel and I have learned so much to help me with my vegan eating. Thank you for being a blessing! I just bought your new cookbook on Amazon. Soon I will write a review on Amazon. Thank you and to your husband for teaching me so much - I am "plant exclusive" in my eating plan - giving up oil was hard at first, but I was able finally after following your RUclips channel! Thank you! Suzy Stroud Aa
TIP: Pick 2 meals that you can make for dinner each week and use the leftovers in your lunch. Once you have those 2 perfect add one more. Then you’ll be up to 3 dinners and 3 lunches WFPB.
Love this! I am starting right after Christmas and definitely going to use your suggestion. I am not in to cooking much so I think it will help me a lot. Thank you! :)
Easier yet, pick meals you already know and love and wfpb them! Many people approach this thinking they have to cook completely different meals. Keep it simple!
This plant based stile.I’ve been on and doing keto for years. I heard so many good things about the plant based diet.I just didn’t know how to start or anything about the eating stile from keto. .
Thank yo Jill. I m learning also English with you . Sorry for my writing. Today, I start my whole vegan plant based . I like too much your videos, because you speak very slowly and I understand all. Thank you. I improve my English with you and you teach me new recipe. Gracias !
Really needed to seet this. I'm transitioning for health reasons (better digestion, heart health and animal welfare). I'm 52 so this is a huge change. My daughter and her husband are vegan and I have been going to her for tips, advice and recipe ideas. As a US Master swimmer, I practice with my team 4 days a week, so I'm moving! I'm so glad I found your youtube channel and website!
We homeschool our three kids, and this video is almost exactly like a "How to Get Started in Homeschooling" guide -- especially the parts about doing research, finding your people, keeping explanations simple (and about yourself instead of others), and being quiet about your choices.
I’m so glad I’ve found your channel. I’m in process in converting from the traditional mindset from meat to plant based. Experimenting on all sorts of meals. It’s an exciting venture and loving it. Each year that passes, few more animals stay alive bc of my choices. I’m beginning to see animal products is not a natural thing to do at all. Thank you for your useful knowledge.. namaste
This is so helpful. I began a plant based, oil free diet to help my MS symptoms and have decided to go full whole food vegan for the planet. I feel so much better in my body, but it’s very difficult sometimes as there are so many ingredients and flavours that I am just discovering. The twelve tips are a huge help and I’m so glad I found your channel. Many thanks 😊
Hi, Jill. I am a senior, single. I think the best suggestion I could make as I am finding my way in these first days of WFPB, learn to adjust quantities. I don't need many calories each day to get all the nutrients I need. As a life-long foodie, I get very excited about new foods and information. I want it all and I want it now, as they say. Slow down and enjoy " sampler days, weeks" until you figure it out for YOU. Thanks so much.
Good video, thanks! I have two comments. First, when asked where I get protein, I usually respond, "The same place cows get it." Second, as for the question of why I eat a plant-based diet, "I believe we were designed to eat plants. And, it is best for us to follow the designer's plan." I do often follow that idea with a statement like, "But, I know not everyone agrees with my thinking, and that's okay. It's not a religion, it's a lifestyle for better health."

Hi Jill. These tips are fab. I’ve been experimenting with many types of ‘healthy’ diets for a while now but this by far is the one that my body loves the best. Your be kind to yourself comment is so true as my thinking is if I’m WFPB 95% of the time and I’m feeding my body lots of nutrient dense plant food including my daily green juices or smoothies, my body can surely take care of the occasional rubbish and over time I’m finding I’m taking in the nonsense foods less and less. Thank you for the resources available on this channel and I’ve bought your book. Love it ❤️❤️
Something I learned immediately from a wfpb oil free diet, I used to not be a breakfast person. Now, when I wake up I'm starving! So I've learned, make a huge portion of beans and greens, make a ton of vegan chili, make a ton of whatever is compliant with your life style, and when I need a snack or a meal which ever, you.can warm it and eat it. I also really enjoy having all of my non refrigerated produce insight constantly so I know I have a snack ready!
Late comment, but wanted to give a big thumbs up to yours! I've always been hungry for breakfast, but the traditional foods have never worked for me (eggs make me sick, cereal and oats make me nauseated and/or sleepy, too much fruit again sleepy...), so I've always eaten 'weird' things for breakfast like a big salad or leftover soup - they sit well for me and no sleepy carb crash. 😀 Now that I'm transitioning to WFPB, I'm going to stick with it!
Great Tips, loved every one of them. I've lived a plant based life for about 7 months now, but my wife refuses to change her old eating habits, makes it a bit hard, but Life goes on...
I find that sharing the health benefits of a WFPB diet is a good thing. I don't go throwing it in people's faces about what THEY should eat, but if they ask, I share why I eat the way I do. If they ask more questions, I share more information. If not, that's ok too. I am not ashamed of eating the way I do. I don't feel guilty. I know my "why" and that's enough to keep me thankful that I chose this lifestyle. If someone wants to shame me or guilt trip me, that's their problem. It's between them and God.
Hi Jill! So happy the RUclips algorithm suggested your make your own oat milk video for I liked it so much, I wanted to hear more from you! I appreciate your simple yet high production quality for your videos as well and your calming and very informative information. Thanks for sharing your tips with the world!
I'm so happy you are here. You are the only one who cooks the way need/want to! I just got done watching your cherry pie video and it was so sweet to hear about your mom. I'm sure she is proud of you! Thanks for all the great videos.
Jill, thank you for the tips. I will forward this to some friends who have recently gone WFPB and have been looking to me for guidance. You have said “it all” in such a clear, concise, and organized way. There is so much more information and there are so many more choices to embrace this lifestyle than when I started for health reasons in 2012, but for each person who makes this choice there is that overwhelming “first time.” I wish each of you well on your WFPB journey. Jill, thanks for the ongoing suggestions, recipes, and support.
Just stumbled across your channel from the Krocks. Very small world! I grew up in Graham pretty much my whole life. My dad still lives in Mebane. Now living in Tampa. Really enjoying your content and information. Thank you!
Thank U Thank U- the information and time you take to give us the basics all the way to preparing ourselves for a lifestyle change is invaluable- I decided to test my body’s reaction to making a kale salad that you made and boy I was completely blown away with the energy and strength I gained from just eating a 💯% pure kale salad with your ranch dressing recipe- I was ready to jump stretch and dance- live plant based eating is worth every ounce of effort- thankU soooo much ❤
Thank you for 12 steps. Im going plant based as recommended by my doctor. Taking time to learn as much as i can; copying receipes as i go. Your steps help the most Thank You from Grandma Katie in Oregon
Number 9 is a tip you don’t usually hear but important until you feel totally comfortable. I have been VEGAN 3 years now and only now most people know that I’m VEGAN. I’m so glad I did it this ways because I can’t get all the stupid health questions. I’m strong enough now to let people know that I’m VEGAN for ethical reason for the ANIMALS.
❤️ Great video, really sage advice for newbies. I went plant based/vegan as soon as I watched what the health a few weeks ago. Gutted out my fridge/freezer looked up some fantastic recipes. You try and create the food you love what I’m surprised at is how easy it was. It is life altering, this decision but once informed how can you turn your back on this knowledge if it’s detrimental to your health, your environment & the animal kingdom? I wish everyone all the best no matter where they are on their journey. 😁
Wow, this is what I am real looking for, when you gave us that twelf steps, I was eager to know this question pple like to ask much, where will you get your vitamin B12? They are saying that a person can only find B12 in Dairy product. What is the simple answer on that question to them?
@@katrieshipanga1008 my mum has been a life long meat & dairy eater and is still B12 deficient. It’s not just one aspect of food and nutrition but it’s many…
Saw, in the last weeks, a couple of your videos. I am charmed of the way you doing that. I am a Dutch man, 55 years and 280 pounds. Less sweets, but a lot of cheese and choco. I have just saw this video and make me abonnee. I also am a fan of Krock's in the Kitchen. Tomorrow a start the Vegan Challenge, a Dutch initiative, 2 or 3 times a year to help people to go vegan. I wish you good luck. Dutch-man Jan
I've been plant-based for the better part of 20 years. This is a GREAT resource with some of the best information. I also love, in general with your work, that you give some of the best *small* tips, or hacks, that make the biggest difference - some have been entirely new to me. I have said, "how did I not know this?!" so many times. Thanks for everything!
I had horrible chest pains and gallbladder issues for years. When I was diagnosed with 311 cholesterol, though I wasn’t terribly over weight, I immediately researched natural ways to reduce cholesterol and went vegan overnight, literally. I would have starved if I hadn’t come across channels like yours. My cholesterol is now at 167 and I haven’t had gallbladder issues in a year.
Thank you so much for this video. I have tried to go plant based before and only made it to vegetarian for about a year, but I don't want to give up bc my goal is plant based. I will definitely be using the tools you have here. Thank you again and Merry Christmas!
I saw your channel yesterday, you are really great help. Many ideas and great variety of plant based recipes choices. About getting out and move our body, in case somebody can't do it, because of a kind of disability, it would good as well to keep moving in the house . To spend sometime everyday, or 3 days a week, to go on and down our steps for example. To have some exercise for about 20 minutes, like like steps at the same place where we stand. I do it at least 3 times a week, like as i would climb the stairs up and down. I had a surgery in 2017 in colon and my feet had become unable to keep my body stand up. I'm better and better with my exercises. I'm new to the totally plant based diet, I started by giving up dairy products in May and I feel really great..
You answered some questions that will help me in my transition journey to plant based lifestyle. Unfortunately i don't have a friend like you have so till then your videos are my friend. so keep up the super work... you rock !!
Hi Jill, thank you so much for all of this information, i have clued myself into this life style, health, Animal abuse and our dear planet, i am happy with my choice, you also with your tips to help out here, i have purchased you book, i love it, take care and God Bless, cannot wait to make the meatloaf...
Great tips. Many thanks! I'd add one thing - considering *not* looking for support from online plant-based or vegan groups if you fall off the wagon, unless you trust the group to be kind. Most people are lovely but a few can be vicious to those who admit they are struggling. I have even seen cruel or supercilious comments directed at people who are on day one of their new lifestyle. It's the last thing anyone needs.
Many years ago it was mixing grains with legumes, then add veggies. Now there are lots of different options. I’m looking for new ideas and recipes. I love your cooking shows.
It was interesting your part about knowing your reasons. I am a ‘take my health for granted’ guy though at 61 that’s not wise I know. For me it was solely the cruelty and injustice of factory farming that made my decision easy and it is a reason that will never change. My wife changed with me but for her it was purely health reasons. I do find it strange that we aren’t on the same wavelength but ultimately it doesn’t matter and it has the huge advantage that I am therefore not predominantly a junk food vegan because she keeps me on the straight and narrow.
excellent video. i've started this journey about a year ago and i found this video very interesting, informative and fun. thank you so much for taking the time and energy to produce and share with us something so worth it.xx btw your banana bread recipe is a winner.i bake 2 loaves per week.it has become my 5 yr old daughter's favourite breakfast.
It took me several attempts to get on the veagan diet. I kept making making the same mistake over and over. What mistake was that? I kept trying to have vegan versions of non vegan foods; i.e. vegan burgers, hotdogs and other meat and dairy items. Once I stopped doing that, and eating vegan meals that wer not trying to immitate nog vegan foods, I was able to make the transition.
Very helpful tips! I am transitioning from vegetarian to Whole Food Plan Based. I have watched a couple of your videos; about oil free salad dressings. I should be making one very soon! Thank you for sharing!
Jill I just found you’re channel.and hearing so much good things about plant based.I’ve been on the keto train for years.and I I want to try something different.and hearing so many good things about the plant based.but I didn’t know anything about it or how to start it.what I can eat.
Thank you Jill. This is so helpful. Been vegan for about a year but I’m always learning. I loved what you said about what you tell others. I’m just doing this for myself and it’s working.
Learning thinking loving ur videos ... informing myself daily .... to make the best choice for myself ....😍❤️😉have been on off vegetarian vegan my whole life ...
Thank you so much for this video, Jill! Just starting my journey and find your videos inspiring and informative. So much to learn and have fun doing so! Warm regards.😍
I've been looking for a new diet and I think I'll try this. I have lipodema and in our world keto is king. I can't do keto. It doesn't seem right. I need to lose 50lbs to keep my knees and im hoping this will work for this disease. I will probably not go 100% at first but I pray this will save me. If so I will spread this into our community as a safer and better alternative to keto.
great tips for the new year Jill :) You have the tallest and happiest camera man , ha ha . Please keep producing and educating for those willing to step forward into heath in 2020.
This is a great video. Unfortunately I'm in a small town outside of Charleston WV now. I'm never going to find anyone here. I'll just have to settle for someone online. It's all good. I'm my 89 year old Mother's caretaker 24/7 so there is no going anywhere anyway. I have to eat at home basically. She only wants to go to cracker barrel, Bob Evans or a local restaurant. Everything has butter, oil, salt and other stuff. I'm Jay glad we aren't going out to eat every day like we were for the past year. One good thing happened because of this COVID crazy.
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you so much. My job is very important,I know that. 😊 I'm a stress eater so I'm doing better now than on crazy diets where you starve all day. Lol just eat a sweet potato. Yum!
Hi Jill, I tried your Beef Stew & Dumplings today and I must say that it came out quite good. I cooked it up in the morning and we ate some for supper. The only thing I found is that the 2 liters of broth was absorbed by the vegies and dumplings and I added 2 cups more to it. The Curls were great but the overall taste was a bit shy of the BEEF flavor and I think the next tine I make this I would add 1 BEEF Bullion Cube. Other wise great!
I watched this 4 years ago when I first went vegan then got sick with anemia so started eating meat and dairy but ethically I was full of guilt. Now I am back only not just for the animals and the climate but WFPB for my health.

Jill, where do you get your medjool dates? I have had a hard time finding them. Thanks. Love your show and have shared the link with some of the California chefs that are online and have shows that are an hour or more. Who has time to watch those?
Stumbled upon your channel at thTedX The fireman slaying dragons. I really have been trying to go plant based for a few monyhs now but I don't see alternative foods. Maybe I'll specifically be checking vegan aisles nnext time I'm shopping. Thanks.
I really liked this video! I just got Dr Mcgreger’s book How Not to Diet and every study points to whole foods/plants being key. Do you ever use an instant pot? I got one for Christmas.
That is the best book I have read yet ! I do have an Instant Pot and I use it mainly for cooking beans for and chickpeas . I cook big batches and portion them into containers and put them in the freezer 👍 It saves me a lot of time and babysitting 🤗

I am making the switch due to health reasons (cancer diagnosis), but my doctor is concerned that my blood potassium levels are high. Kidneys are fine. I haven't found any references to this issue in my research. Thoughts?
I’ve been vegetarian for 12 years. I recently made the decision to take it to the next level and go 100 percent whole food, oil free vegan diet. This decision came along side a cancer diagnosis .
You might be interested in the NORI protocol (nutritional oncology research institute). I have done a lot of research and have chosen that as the approach I want to take for myself.
Too Cute For Cancer I will. There is an interview on Chris beat cancer channel regarding the NORI protocol. But, it’s good to do a lot of research. Keep me posted!
Thanks for your videos. I've been attempting plant base after a cancer diagnosis and reading The China Study. It's pretty easy for me to say no to meat, although my hubby is is a big meat eater and avid hunter, so our freezer is always full of meat. Anyway, I prefer to eat cereal. I don't know if it's the simplicity or what but I usually have two bowls a day, one for lunch and another for an evening snack. What cold cereals can I eat that are truly healthy, plant based, and I won't break the bank spending $4 on a small box. Or.....how can I get off of the cereal kick? Help.
I would stick to the cereals with less ingredients like puffed kamut or rice or shredded wheat and then add a few nuts and chunks of nuts and/or dried fruit chunks and bananas.
Yes, you can have almond butter. About the bread, here is a post that gives a huge list👍 www.google.com/amp/s/happyherbivore.com/2012/03/looking-vegan-bread-ingredients/amp/

That is Fantastic Sylvia! ❤️❤️👏👏😊
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Yesss!!! good afternoon from Greece!!!!!
I totally forgot about the PlantPure Pods. Found my locally and just joined. TY for reminding me.
Ketchup - Try Primal Kitchen Ketchup. It is unsweetened with anything and organic. Taste great.
You answered some questions that will help me in my transition journey to plant based lifestyle. Unfortunately i don't have a friend like you have so till then your videos are my friend. so keep up the super work... you rock !!
Awwweeee, happy to be your friend ❤️
I love how u take ur talk to explain, u make this lifestyle look so easy
Thanks u have inspired in many ways
Hi Jill, thank you so much for all of this information, i have clued myself into this life style, health, Animal abuse and our dear planet, i am happy with my choice, you also with your tips to help out here, i have purchased you book, i love it, take care and God Bless, cannot wait to make the meatloaf...
Thank you very much for your tips. I am currently switching over to the plant-based vegan lifestyle for health reasons.
I saved this video for a pep talk later if I need it!! Tks...:)
Very helpful tips! I am transitioning from vegetarian to Whole Food Plan Based. I have watched a couple of your videos; about oil free salad dressings. I should be making one very soon! Thank you for sharing!
Being and cooking vegan makes you much more creative in your life, in general. Great tips, thanks

Fantastic Tracy 👍👍👍❤️
Thanks. Finishing my 6th month and these 12 tips are great!
That is fantastic! Keep up the great work !
A BIG THANK YOU! YOU EXPLAIN SO SIMPLE
great tips for the new year Jill :) You have the tallest and happiest camera man , ha ha . Please keep producing and educating for those willing to step forward into heath in 2020.
I have really enjoyed your videos this year. I hope you and all of the special people in your life have a very Happy Holiday Season.
That chocolate pudding looked beautiful!
I have all the respect for you in this world ❤️ You are doing something wonderful and I’m glad you are here 😊
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you so much. My job is very important,I know that. 😊 I'm a stress eater so I'm doing better now than on crazy diets where you starve all day. Lol just eat a sweet potato. Yum!
your the best!!! such a nice person to teach us all how to change our lives for the best health ever recipes!!
The BEST video on the plant based/vegan lifestyle! Hope this video gets shared!!
Thank you Beth 🤗
I must say this is much better advice than That Vegan Teacher. Thank you for this.
I'm very excited to begin this journey!! Thank-you for the info.!
You are Great! THANK YOU.
This is perfect! Thank you for putting all this in a video.
I watched this 4 years ago when I first went vegan then got sick with anemia so started eating meat and dairy but ethically I was full of guilt. Now I am back only not just for the animals and the climate but WFPB for my health.
Hi, do you have a workout routine?
I walk 3 miles a day, css as calisthenics every other day and some yoga
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thanks for your reply

What kind of bread/brands do u recommend that are gluten free ?? I am planning to start wfpb diet and wondering what store breads are okay ?
Thank you!
So many helpful suggestions. Great video.
Just received your latest book. When I am asked why Vegan my response is my Cardiologist recommended it to reverse my serious heart disease.
Jill, where do you get your medjool dates? I have had a hard time finding them. Thanks. Love your show and have shared the link with some of the California chefs that are online and have shows that are an hour or more. Who has time to watch those?
I just pick them up at the regular grocery stores here.
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you. I will look harder. I have usually just seen the other type.

Enjoyed your video.

Thoughts?
I haven’t heard of that either Jill but I am not a nutritionist. You can ask for a consultation from the True North Clinic. www.healthpromoting.com/
I am very interested and will be hitting google hard for research NORI? Keep me posted on your progress! God bless you💕
Too Cute For Cancer I will. There is an interview on Chris beat cancer channel regarding the NORI protocol. But, it’s good to do a lot of research. Keep me posted!
I love Chris and I’ll look for this NORI interview!
Breast cancer for me. Best of luck to you all ❤
Thanks for this video. Have been transitioning recently.
Is almond butter aloud ?? Also what store bought bread brand is considered WFPB ?
Yes, you can have almond butter. About the bread, here is a post that gives a huge list👍
