They think it is about him getting old, but I think it's more about how artists don't literally play songs identically to the album every time they play it. Some days you're just feeling differently, and you perform differently. For those of you who've written and play your own songs, you know what I mean. He's not mimicking some source material, he is the source material and can play and sing it however he wants every time.

I’ve seen this wonderful man age, I’ve seen all the footage of Dave related to Nirvana and Foo Fighters, I’ve seen SO many concerts of them performing, and I STILL admire his passion for music, and even despite the hard times he’s been through, despite him aging, Dave continues to make great and memorable music.
Watching this made me cry, my favorite song and watching David just weakening his voice, its like watching your heroes just fighting and killing it but also noticing now's the time to fully appreciate it more than before
