Our Work Process:

5. Final review of the video, if video is not up to the quality desired for this channel. Either go back into the editing software, re-record some lines, change opinions/commentaries.

Prison was never designed as rehabilitation. They started off as holding while awaiting the disposition of the case and the sentence handed down. Then they were used to punish because some crimes weren't worthy of death penalty or deportation. Only since the 60s or so have they been trying rehabilitation.
I worked undercover in a CP ring. I don't wanna go into details but I am still having trouble sleeping 5 years later

Recently read about a cop in England who had a many year relationship and even had a baby to keep his cover. The woman and her family, who welcomed him into the family, where deeply hurt. Don’t know how the child felt. Such a sad story.
I thought this was going to be a “Spy x Family” reference, but then it just made me sad when I realized it was actually real

His target is very paranoid and only makes regular appearances at school get-togethers for his son. So he needed a child, who was secretly a telepath to get into the school (a very prestigious one at that). He then learned the school would only accept children with two parents, so he quickly married a woman who was also feeling pressure to get married because being unmarried at her age was considered suspicious, and other women had been arrested for it.
She's secretly an assassin, who also needed the cover.
So a spy accidentally adopts a telepath for a daughter and marries an assassin. No he does not know. Nor does the assassin know.
Only the little girl. And she's absolutely here for the drama lol

When I was a kid I fell into some online predator dens. It really does go beyond the imagination, and if I have a kid I'm definitely monitoring what sites they use.

I get really uncomfortable when people I don't know message me, but I was also a naively innocent and polite kid, so I would reply.
I remember a few people messaged me, but one of them was SO intense with everything they said that it brought me close to fear. I never went back to games/websites whose chatrooms felt dangerous

TW In my case i got severely abused, including rape, for the 3 years i was at the scouts, which was from ages 6 to 9. I still get flashbacks where i experience what happened again. I get random panic attacks. But hey, at least you had fun singing songs about all that.

@@akimbanguehe3454 the abuse ramped up and they made me believe worse things would happen if i told anyone. I also started repressing and dissociating quite early. I was basicly a zombie at age 7. I barely have any memories from that time. The memories i do have came back later.
I have told my parents and friends earlier this year after i was groped in a bar and those memories came flooding back. Prossecution is not an option i think, the scouts disbanded a bit after i was pulled out of the scouts (one of my then friends told them i was being hit and that i had to eat my food in the toilets). I also cant make out the faces in the memories i do have. To be honest considering how damaging remembering the parts i do remember is my therapist and i have decided to not try to uncover more.

I think OP needs to ask the court what the status of the employees and employers at that shut-down bar are, explaining that he was threatened after that day in court.
If the court side-eyes OP for not bringing this up when it happened, OP can at least say, “If the people were arrested for crimes, I think my testimony of what happened that day would be relevant if they’re getting parole sometime soon. I just want to make sure that I’m protected, and that probably means making sure the guys from that case aren’t able to schedule a ‘get-together’ which would be in reality ‘their day of revenge’ against me.”

For story 7, it's definitely better that a person who went out to do drugs ever week lost her kids, at least until she gets help and stays sober. That is never an environment you want kids around, so the undercover definitely helped saved their lives in the long run
Problem is, with the US system, there'd be a really high chance the (maybe single) mom doesn't get rehab and instead gets a year or more in jail/prison, which will generally only worsen addictions
But which is better? A mother who struggles with drugs and leaves her kids in the care of a family friend when she's using, or having the kids get split up and placed into foster homes that abuse and rape them (a very real possibility with the way the US foster system is)?
Yeah, it could be better for the kids, but it could also be much worse, and there's not a good way of telling in a situation like this.

When I was a kid and a predator tried to get me to do smth, I did everything I could to troll them and waste their time. It worked.
Once I was a really high-pitched 15yo dude on gaming VCs and got hit on quite a couple times. I had a wide array of trolling options for them, from doing an obvious guy voice / a metal growl to the ones who thought I was a young girl to pretending I was my dad and I was reporting them. Also I was acting like a real asshole when some people hit on me in DMs, just to see what awful shit I could get away with if I dangled the possibility of a nude to them. Also having their Discord account allows me to report them to my country and their country's police if I get it
Both of y'all are like me and like to fuck with people. I respect people like that.
My uncle ODd in a guest bedroom at his “friend’s” house, while his friend and some other guy were in another room blackout drunk. While I do still feel some bitter feelings to those two that were with my uncle at the time for supporting his addiction, I also know that my uncle made the decision to put himself in that position.
I know everyone says it but drugs are seriously dangerous. Even if you think “I’m strong I can handle it, I have nothing to lose,” you do have very much to lose. And you are not stronger than death. You are human. So take care of yourself, remember that your friends and family love you very much. And if you don’t have friends or family around, love yourself until you find someone to love you.
If his "friends" were blackout drunk is it possible they were also addicts and were just friends who were addicts? Obviously I don't know the whole story but just because addicts are friends with other addicts doesn't necessarily mean they're "supporting" their addiction, they're just both people with a disease who get along. Idk just a different perspective. I've had a few family members OD & pass and I've ODed and survived twice before so I know a little about that I guess you could say "lifestyle"

You said in story 7 you hope the mum was only charged with possession or something minor, yeah that's not how it works... Odds are she did more time than the organisers because she would have been charged with conspiracy but without knowing enough to betray someone for a better plea deal. Even worse, being innocent of anything major she may have made the mistake of fighting the charges and ended up in prison for decades from a dozen more charges being piled on as punishment for defending herself.

Humans are programmed to be disgusted by germs. People see criminals as a social disease. Only a broken society doesn't have any kind of prejudice against convicts. It's just what it is.
The cops aren't really involved in the process though. If the judge decides to let you scott free the cop has no say. nor does the politician.

Entrapment is when an officer outright asks or tells you to do something illegal, then arrests you for it. it's actually fairly rare. They're allowed to imply and beat around the bush, letting you fill in the blanks, but they cannot directly ask or tell you to do something illegal, or if they do at least not charge you for that specific thing.
The criteria for entrapment:
It must be the uncovers idea
The other person can not Have a predisposition to committing set crime period
Anybody who's already committed a felony automatically has a predisposition to breaking the law...
That's why a successful entrapment defense is very very rare...
For the story about the agent showing their badge and thinking that only happened in the movies; it's important for the agent to establish that they are legitimate law enforcement personnel, and a badge is a good step in that direction. Otherwise, if a random person shows up asking odd questions about a neighbor, a reasonable person might conclude it's something crooked on the part of the person asking questions. I wouldn't want to answer questions about a neighbor's habits or schedule, because that could easily be trying to find a good time to rob the neighbor's house or something similar. Also, whether or not I answered the random questions about a neighbor, I might mention it to the neighbor or in some way ask them about it. If it's made clear that it's legitimate law enforcement, then of course the neighbor would not hear about anything from me. However, if someone is scouting the neighbor's house to rob, looking for a chance to kidnap their children, trying to vandalize their property, or something of that nature; I would want to warn the neighbor in addition to not helping the potential criminal. Showing the badge was a good way to bypass some of those concerns (although if certain questions were asked or an inordinate interest was given to certain things: I would get the name, badge number, and agency of the person and at least check things out... con men sometimes use fake badges).
I don't think anyone knows 100% what undercover cops/agents are or are not allowed to do. They'll tell you they can't use drugs, or do serious harm to people, etc. but wouldn't it make more sense that they say these things, so that when an undercover person ACTUALLY does any of them, it looks as if they CANT be an undercover agent, but that would completely ruin the point. You'd never get deep undercover in drug rings, etc.
Seems like alot of these ''good guys'' cross the line between being undercover to catch criminals to actively collaborating with them and being one of the bad guys themselves, the only difference being they avoid prosecution.

Years ago my uncle was in some serious trouble, I'm 99% sure is girlfriend at the time was an undercover officer. She basically came out of no where, no idea where he would have met her, she was attractive, smart and suppsedly had a good job in the medical field, not the average druggie he usually associated with. She drove an older Nissan Maxima, not necessarily an old junker because it was pretty nice cosmetically, but had some issues like it had been parked up for a while, possibly a drug seizure vehicle?, she gave my cousin a phone and said use it as much as she wanted, some "rich old doctor" was paying for it, when her Maxima broke down she pulled up in a newer Escalade she "borrowed". At one point they all decide to go to and get some food, while my uncle and the woman were inside ordering, my cousin snoops and finds a gun in the console. After a couple months my uncle finally gets caught, and his girlfriend dissappears as quickly as she turned up, family tried to reach out to let her know what happened, but her phones not working, and my cousins free "rich old doctor" phone also stops working, I always thought stuff like that was just in movies, but looking back now I wonder why no one was the least bit suspicious at the time
In the U.K. a group of women have taken the police force to court. They had children with undercover police officers back in the 1980s when officers infiltrated anti war and anti nuclear weapons groups. A huge mess as the women did not find out the truth until the 2000s. The “fathers “ had bailed out of the relationships in the 1990s and one woman found out the truth by accident when she was trying to get maintenance. The name used by her child’s “father” came back as a person who had died as a baby.

I’ve been approached by undercover ATF before: As a 2nd Amendment Enthusiast I belong to multiple gun clubs (outdoor shooting ranges) in my part of the state. You get to know the regulars pretty quickly, and most of them also attend multiple gun clubs.
Anyway, after YEARS of going to a club suddenly there’s a new Chevy Malibu with two dudes I’ve never seen before. Haircuts and beards worthy of instagram wearing dressed head to toe like 5.11 (Edit: 5.11 is a brand of tactical themed clothes. This isn’t about their height.) fashion models. They shoot maybe half a magazine then start wandering over to people and fawning over their guns

No, Prison was designed solely for punishment. Rehabilitation is a more modern concept, the last 50 or so years I’d say. In the US its primary function is still punishment, it does seem like other countries though have tried moving towards more rehabilitation.
The US doesnt care about rehabilitation at all. Especially private prisons, where an inmate is just a cash cow part of the system. Your value is only being kept there as long as possible so the prison gets to profit.

Story 11: The college CI thing feels like a pyramid scheme.
Back nefore the Internet took off, my dad was a Postal Investigator. The amount of CP that used to move through the post office was sickening. He was tasked with working with the FBI and local LEO to hunt down people using PO boxes to send and receive this stuff. He did this for over a decade before he basically forced them to take him off those cases. He retired 10 years ago, hadn't worked on a CP case 10 years prior to retirement for a total of 20+ years now and still deals with depression from the sheer amount of CP cases he worked on.
Not from the cops perspective and probably not that crazy, but my dad for a while (maybe still is, not sure), was responsible for shutting of gas to people who don't pay their utilities. He owns and frequently wears a Kevlar vest because surprisingly people don't like having their utilities shut off. He does seem to feel sorry for some of the people but he says a lot of them are loaded just still freeloaders. Anyway moving onto the story: he was given an address and told to shut some people down. He goes to the location and the people living there tell him to get the fuck out of there. He says "Listen I got to shut you down" and basically says the routine stuff, as this wasn't a known dangerous site he wasn't wearing his vest. Then one of the guys flashes a badge at him and tells him "Understand yet, leave now" so he gets out of there. He checks the news when he gets home, turns out he went to a place the cops were using as a drug den, and they were about to have a huge drug bust when he went to bust them.
Im from the northern midwest and we had a situation in our county where the police department had a college student working as an informent to get a reduced sentence. The guy ended up getting shot exicution style by the river. I think his name was Andrew Sadek.

Prison is absolutely not about rehabilitation, currently in the US it's closer to slavery than anything else. They use prisoners as cheap/free labour so what would be the point of trying to make sure they don't reoffend?

My understanding regarding legality when it comes to being undercover is that they take a similar approach as they do the police. A certain level of immunity is guaranteed, such as not being tried for possession of drugs if you were undercover to help bust a drug ring. Past that you have to prove what you did was necessary for maintaining your identity. This particular instance? Eh... He went a little far in regards to regular limits, but his identity's integrity was in doubt, so some "excessiveness" can be waved off. Legally speaking he was probably in the clear.
Something to keep in mind is that there are clear lines that no undercover agent is allowed to cross, and that the full list of those lines is VERY classified. Hard lines, the kind that absolutely no quarter is given on. As long as they don't cross those lines, usually they can get away with it so long as they can prove they had to do it.
Wonder if a cop ever had to blow something else in order not to blow their cover. xD

The problem is, a lot of cops and a lot of pro police people don't consider criminals, drug users, or even the homeless as real people, they are problems and thus they not only are fine with brutal force being used they see it as preferable.

A lot of these stories. I've been the person like my house was wrongfully. Rated by The Fed's 3 separate times along 3 years and we actually had to move because their harassment was so intense because they were so convinced that my dad was a big drug Lord or some s*** Just because the bar he hang out with he would talk with these people apparently and hugged them when leaving, but you would just go to the bar and come back home. They absolutely destroyed our lives. No charges were ever placed or anything, but we literally had to move 3 separate times when they rated they took everything V. HS tapes TV's every f****** thing I was a small child. I learned that I could never have. Anything because I didn't know when the feds were gonna bust it in the middle of the night and take everything but the sheets on my bed. I literally have known kids who have grown up with parents cooking method in another room. No, they're not great. Yes, they have trauma, but most their trauma isn't from family. It's from the rest of society.
18 y.o. cop girl pretending to be underage to catch predators - I don't understand how exactly did she and her department do that? She is legally adult so whatever anyone said to her is not a crime.

i was wanted by the police for TWO YEARS, i didnt know why, friends didnt know why, family didnt know why.
