Have to tell this story. Camping out, would alternate dogs when I would go pee into the darkness. I didn’t want the 2 of them out chasing anything, so only took one at a time.
It was windy, and pitch black, so I was careful to position myself accordingly. Squatted, being careful not to get anything my shoes, or my pants legs when, went all of a sudden the OUTSIDE of my leg from the knee down was warm and wet!! The darned dog lifted his leg in the darkness and peed on ME !!

I have a friend who bought a she-wee. It allows her to pee standing up. She goes golfing with her husband. She said the men just go in the trees so now she can too. You still have to wipe.
Another friend of mine on a trail ride one time with us & there wasn’t anyone around because it was an old dirt road just dropped, squatted, and peed to avoid any poison oak or ivy. Her mare backed up 2 foot from her side by side squatted and peed just like her moma! I’ve never laughed so hard!

When I was in the military, we would cut the top off a water bottle and use the bottle like a cup. Whenever we were done, we would pour out the pee. A paper cup works, too.
Poop is something different. They usually had portable toilets if we were out for longer than a day. That wasn't a real problem.
After you're done using the "she-wee", just pull it firmly against you as you remove it; no wiping needed. I keep one in the car in my EM pack, in a zip lock bag (rinse after use). It was recommended to try it in the shower first to get used to it.
Dropping your drawers when there are no bushes or trees - I pack a hair salon cape ( polyester light weight) and a safety pin. Wrap it around my waist and drop my drawers.

My dad said that also. For more than a nature call visit. Whenever he would go on an errand or something he or my mom would say “ he went to see a man about a horse.” It as used also when they didn’t want me to know where he was going. I’d get so excited as I wanted a horse desperately. Only to get a big disappointment. Such trauma! What a way to teach a child not to believe what they are told.

I am Lakota and on a trip back to the Rez in 2004….had to go. We were out in the Badlands on a pitch black night. Truly darkness. Stopped the vehicle and I got out. In the midst of my going several feet from the vehicle…… here came a bison. Omg! I never peed so fast in my life. It was all over me. I managed to get back in and close the door just as the bison reached me. Told my husband to hit the gas. We got out of there fast.
Yikes. Wow. I think I’ll get a funnel and carry a bottle in my car.

There are funnel type gadgets such as P-EZY. I have 2 different brands but even though I have practiced in the shower, they are never leakproof for me. Maybe a young skinny girl could use it great without even dropping her jeans, but I can't.

My husband and I broke down in the middle of nowhere Nevada a long the loneliest highway.
As we waited for a tow, I had to pee. Im holding and holding and finally said I cant wait anymore. My husband said just pee outside the car. There had been NO CARS pass for at least 30 minutes. So I positioned myself over a gully, squatted and started my business. I was so relieved (pun!) until 5 seconds into my adventure, no less than 10 cars passed by. Some honked 😳 Fun times....

I have to tell you a story... I purchased the little paper tablets and kept them in the glove compartment of our car. My adult son got into the car one day. Seeing those paper tablets, he took one, thinking they were mints. It came back out rather quickly! He still didn't understand what it was, so told us that those "mints" lost their flavor and needed to be thrown out! Of course, I was rolling around the floor with laughter! They are great little paper tablets that open into very nice large cloths, that don't tear easily. They don't take up much space and easily fit into a pocket or purse. Great to have around in an emergency!

My adult daughter did the same thing last week. I couldn't stop laughing. She found it in a kitchen drawer and assumed it was a mint.
FYI, a modern toilet seat fits perfectly on a 5 gallon bucket.

They have seats that fold up as well - got that for my kiddo when I didn’t want him using a public seat to do his biz - those sit on top of a bucket easily as well.
This would solve the issue for me as I can no longer squat due to 2 knee replacements! Thanks!

P STYLE is a newer device made for women to be able to urinate while "in the woods". They sell online for around 12 dollars and are small, ergonomically shaped and reusable. You can 'pee' while fully clothed, standing up AND you can even wipe with it! I have one in my GO Bag and so should every other woman on the planet! I should add that there are several other female urination devices on the market as well. I very much enjoyed the delicate but direct manner in which you did this video, Great job!
yes! Me too! I use a female urinal when I am in my garden, maybe the same as clicquot2271 uses. storing the spout in the bed of the urinal keeps it compact, rinse w water when done, put in a carrying or plastic bag, wash it at home. Just loosen the jeans slightly, slide it into place after pushing out the tube enough to direct the flow, and stand to pee. NO bare butt! YAY! pull it forward to wipe drips away, Handled!

I was horseback riding with my son in a wilderness situation a few years ago when I hopped off and told him I needed a “pee break”. When I came back he said “ wow! I didn’t know women could do that in the woods!” Yes son, you learn something new everyday! Thanks so much for this very helpful video, as always!🌺

OMG!! I’ve always been grateful I grew up on a farm. Peeing in the open was as common and taken for granted as was using an outhouse or indoor bathroom! Same for my daughter who, while not raised on her grandparents farm, spent plenty of time on them as well as hiking and camping with us. First time encountering an adult female who didn’t know what to do I was totally shocked!

Farm girl here. A City fella brought my Dad home after my Dad's car broke down over in the City. After he talked to my Dad and Grandmother for about 30 minutes, he left and said he'd be back in a few minutes. He was gone for over an hour and when he finally came back he had a dozen roses with him and asked for me. I didn't know what to say, but was polite and we asked him if he'd like some supper, so he stayed. I later asked him if he'd like to go for a ride and he said yes, so I headed out on some country roads and he saw rural life for the first time. Along the trip I had to go, so I pulled over and went outside and behind the car. He didn't know what to think, lol. Needless to say, he learned that he could get out of the car on a country road if he needed to over the next 20 years of our friendship and he learned to keep some tissues in his car's glovebox as well, haha!! He ended up always wanting to be my and my girlfriends from school Bodyguard and always had a blast with us and my family.
He had grown up an only child in the City and we took him under our wing!! I showed him the mountains and the ocean, even his first helicopter ride, along with it's ok to go outside behind something. Good memories!!
I am 73. Many years ago when I was 20 or 21 Friends and I had parked in the ferry parking lot in Bella Coola to spend the night before heading back across B.C. I waited until it was good and dark. (no moon that night -no pun intended) and got out to pee. I was in the process and the whistle blew - time to load the ferry - and a huge string of headlights all flashed directly on me from the cars in line ready to load. All I could do was finish , hike up my pants and quickly get back is the camper. I tried to make myself feel better by realizing I would never see any of these people in the morning because they were all on their way North on the ferry. Thanks for addressing a necessary subject. especially the "take everything you used with you and dispose of it properly."

Honey we are soul sisters. We were in a jeep on a very verrrrry rough road in the mountains. I had been drinking lots of water to battle altitude issues. After one extremely hard bump I told my hubby to stop NOW. I had to go NOW! I was in the middle of going when another jeep came around the corner and got a full moon view while I finished. That was when I started the search for female funnels

Oh phoo. I can’t post a photo of one of my favorite hiking moments. I had gone off and found my private spot. When I came back to truck my hubby was waiting with a grin. He led me back into the woods to see his find. Someone oh how I wish I knew who, had built a nifty little outhouse with a glass window door. It was fully supplied with a coffee can of toilet paper (I saved theirs and used my own). Thankful for it later in the day and for the next year when we we’re back in the area and suddenly realized we wer3 in the same spot. A thousand million thanks to that wonderful person.

Get a female funnel! They are more valuable than gold. Or since you aren’t hiking or camping Travel Johns may be more useful for you needs. At the bottom of the bag are the liquid absorbing crystals as in diapers. Can be reused multiple times (clearly this would mean you and a child for instance) and then sealed up in a bag and tossed away. They have come in very handy at times. Think stuck forever in traffic with a child desperate to pee…..it could work with some creativity and assistance.
Great info for long car rides through non~populated areas (think driving along farmland, desert terrain, etc.).

Since 1975 I have carried a funnel into the woods. Now you can buy collapsible funnels that store well in the car or backpack and are lightweight. You can also cut the corner off a ziploc bag to make it easy to aim the flow. It saves you from having to squat so deeply. For privacy, a pocket rain poncho works perfectly. Happy hiking!

I work for an electric utility. There are no restrooms anywhere near most of our substations, and I'm the only female on a crew of men. I use a Freshette and highly recommend it. Even in winter when I'm wearing FR jeans and heavy insulated bib overalls all I have to do is unzip, pull panties to the side, tuck the funnel in and pee. "Squeegee" off with the back of the funnel as you remove it. Rinse the funnel with a little water and let air dry.
A group of us friends were on a volunteering trip when we pulled to the side off the road on a very misty morning. Thick fog with very little visibility. A friend went into the bushes to take a leak when suddenly the fog lifted, and he was left standing, facing a campground with families hiking by a few yards off!🤣 we still laugh about it every time we drive in the fog. Moral of the story: location, location, location.

As a semi truck driver, I had to go in deep detail ,what a female has to do to piss outside .My truck had broken down a second after checking in and going thru the gate of the company. Huge trailer yard ,and probably a mile walk to the building ,where might be a rest room. No guarantee drivers could use,anyway. I had to wait in the truck for the tow truck. It was 14 hours . I was in the truck. . I was able to order food delivered ,but the problem was peeing. I knew I'd not be back in this truck when tow truck arrived. I had a 5 gallon paint bucket and lid for emergency. I had no choice There was no trash in site that I could tie up the inner liners in the bucket now holding my pee. So I tied each of the three kitchen can bags in the bucket then wrote toxic trash in big black marker. On each layer of bag. Then another bag I shoved that bag into and marked that one. Finally tow truck arrived. The next day ,I get a call from my Russian boss. He asked why I left such a nasty bag on the truck . The driver discovered it and opened it. I was pissed off now. So I explained all this to him. And that a female can't just hop out and whip it out and piss on the side of the truck. We have to bend our knees then reach between our legs,grab all the layers of clothing and pull it forward so we don't pee on our undies and jeans .He was flabbergasted and studdering I said good night and hung up.

I had a high school buddy who became an over the road truck driver. The company matched pairs of drivers to handle most runs and the more experienced drivers were expected to further train the less experienced partners. He got a new female that turned out to be very nasty. She spilled her urine in the truck, never washed her hands and left her containers in the truck at the end of runs like he was supposed to be her servant or something. He told the company to exchange her for anybody else and that he might change companies if they didn't. They did.
Carry a bag of high absorbing kitty litter with you for such occasions. I once had to pee in a 64 ounce cup squatting on the bottom of a mustang floor. Yup it over flowed. Nasty to be sure.
I just keep a female urinal in my vehicle. It has a large, rubber cup attached to it & have used them for all my boys. # 2 I keep a large coffee creamer bucket, with tp roll, plastic zip bags & a small pack of wet wipes triple zip locked so they don’t dry out. Doesn’t hurt to have a nausea bag or two also. Then gallon zip to dispose of all waste. Hand sanitizer & ur ready to go! I’m disabled and this works very well.
That would make a great video of talking about accessibility. I am going to be experimenting with a wee pee I bought. I haven't used it yet. In summer I have privacy in my back yard, and no other time. I keep gallon zip bags in the car but haven't needed to use them. I am not a camper.

@@suzannemartin5984 I have a feeling that real life situations would be better for learning, with a shower afterwards if needed. This is because in the shower you might not be aware of leaks that will wet and soil your clothing. So when I get one, I will test in the bathroom fully clothed, when I have time to clean up after errors.
You could do this again and mention the many, many "she wee" kind of products to help women shoot straight. A funnel that keeps the pee off the legs and clothes. It is silicon and some fold out. Some have a great pouch. It covers the body parts necessary and also can be used while traveling in public restrooms so the person can pee standing up without showering the seat. Who knew?

Truck driver almost 30 years this is so timely for me! This month we got new trucks that has me thinking the space is more like a fighter jet pilot than a truck driver. Geologist here. Many field trips with 30 men and two women. Back then (I'm 73 and retired) I never heard of a bathroom pack. But I always had TP in my backpack and when necessary, an extra tampon. Since I had a rock hammer, I could dig the hole. I have to admit I buried the accoutrements deeply. The men would just say, hey girls, turn your back. Don't even try saying to 30 men to turn their backs. LOL. I hid behind the vehicles, and the we women stood guard for each other. I also had a rain poncho. I was surprised at how many boys/men never thought to bring TP. They tried to buy ours! One or two grabbed a bunch of leaves that turned out to include poison ivy. Anyway, always take advantage of gasoline stops whether you have to go or not. Don't drink a lot of water. Gulp it down when you get back to camp/ hotel. Maybe the professors today stop for the women's comfort at any gas station. Some of the professors back in the 1970s didn't think we belonged in geology, so they never did that.
About 8 years ago, my husband took up fishing, in reluctance to it myself, thinking it was boring 🙄. I went with him on many little lake fishing adventures, and like clock work, I'd have to pee. The struggle for women to pee and not hit your shoes is definitely real. 😖
Long story short, i started going with him on a regular basis and also bought myself a pee funnel via Amazon. LOVE IT ❤

Carry a lightweight piece of cord 210 feet long & tie it to a tree or bush at your trail position.
Lay out the line while you hike ihiknd when you are done, use it to find your way back to the trail without getting lost.
Hi there. I believe you left out two important items. The first is a flashlight. It is hard enough trying to do your business but harder in the dark. The second is a sounding device. If you do encounter trouble and you are not alone it gives you the ability to summon help if you really need it. I agree with you on the rest. Thank you for the info of removing your waist especially the fact it is law. All the stuff would be easy to carry. Stay safe out there. Take care and God bless
That's great advice to include a flashlight and sounding device. A whistle is small and can even be worn on a lanyard. My Motorola phone's flashlight can be turned on by shaking it briskly 3 times, and turned off the same way.
Great video. I jokingly refer to myself as a professional outdoor pee’er. We live out in the boonies, where my only concern is 0:15 my pilot friends who fly over, checking their livestock in pastures.
About 50 years ago, I was taught a technique that works perfect if you’re in a bathing suit (one piece) or skirt, that can be done standing up. Put one leg up on a tree trunk, or whatever is available, pull your underwear crotch over to one side & go. If you have a wide stance, there’s usually no problem with splashing. And of course, no squatting or disrobing.
Hmmm, has not thought of that & I'm 64 & a professional outdoor pee-er myself. Tyvm for that tip!
Thank you for this. It is so needed to talk about reality of no facilities. I was lucky because I grew up with parents who met as park rangers (mom is a biologist) and we camped a lot. I was better prepared than most of my classmates, but as a geology student no one talked about this. I think male professors didn’t think about it. I have so many stories especially in the desert with no cover. 😳 I would add to watch for snakes and cactus that are small and unseen (don’t ask how I know) 🤣
Love your channel. When we would go camping my dad would always find a spot where there was a tree that had fallen down, and on which my mom, sisters, and cousins could sit and position themselves as though they were "on the toilet". It would be covered with a piece of tarp for comfort and safety. We gents had our own area and similar set up.

This one is wayyyy too funny, I have to say!! I can’t stop laughing but all of a sudden I’m starting to feel a little vindicated … a week or so ago I was apologizing for being such a city slicker but now I’m kinda thankful that I am … not just everything you say but stinging, biting critters, plants and bushes too!!🤣 🤣🤣🤣 But on a serious note, a few years ago a local group went on an outting/hike at one of our national parks and one member with was either stung or bitten by an insect or might even have brushed against some plant. The group was far from any emergency facilities and the individual went into anaphylaxis, swelling up like a balloon. By the time they made it out of the woods and to the nearest hospital it was too late, the individual died. It was never discovered what caused the reaction. I don’t know if the individual had any previous allergies but I guess one other thing to consider for your kit would be anti-allergy meds (pens, pills, salve and/or balms). Thanks for sharing (and educating) and making such an important (yet embarrassing) subject so humorous. 🤣🤣🤣
Another trick for privacy is to put up an umbrella and rest it on the ground . In Australia we have drop toilets when you travel out of the range of the sewage system. They are usually smelly and a metal seat. I always carry a bathroom pack with disinfectant wipes , toilet roll, wet wipes and hand sanitiser to make these stops manageable as I have to sit. You have to be careful to make sure no clothing hits the floor as well! Great video. Thank you.

The funnel is something we have referred to as the "STP" (Stand to pee). They are great and have been around for a long time. The US military actually had them made in camo and issued them during many of the incursions in the 70's and more recent. I did read in comments on a site that was selling them, someone asked how the poop would go through such a small tube!! I laughed until I needed to use mine. 🤣😂
Put a plastic coffee can in the car. Make sure the lid is tight fitting. Put a roll of toilet paper in the coffee can. If you are wearing stretchy pants...like. Leggings....it is easy to remove the toilet paper and use the can.and replace the lid until it can be emptied.. You can also put some tissue in the can to absorb any liquid. Probably not for hiking but great for emergencies in a vehicle. My Mom did this when we were kids and it worked great. Of course, the cans were short metal cans back then : : )
Thank you so much for the levity with which you approach this topic. We drove 1,000 miles each way to visit family. When our girls were little we packed a small potty chair and a small amount of kitty litter in the trunk of the car for emergency stops. I put a blanket over the trunk lid for their potty stops. At the next stop for fuel we could wash the container. For camping my best tip for squatting in the dark is "Don't sit on a sharp stick."

We were in the Rockies. Found a small boulder that I was able to lean against in a grassy area. That boulder was sooo warm and blocked the wind. As a kid, mom use to do the door method and for us she’d hold us so we wouldn’t get ourselves wet. I hated when the cars would go by. Always thought they’d see me and mom saying GO no one can see you. 😮😂😂
I’m in Flagstaff AZ. Last year we had a serious wildfire that burned over 20,000 acres. It was started by a man in his 50’s (who should have known better) because he tried to burn his TP after completing his business in the woods. This was during a no burn notice in the NF. Luckily, people saw him and his vehicle, notified law enforcement and the sheriff found the man and arrested him. He was charged with federal crimes! Yeah witnesses!
Not the first dufus to start a wild fire doing that. It's usually hard core city people.
All my children know how to "water the plants" or "pop a squat!" But, we also always have a porta pot, or coffee can and a wide mouth bottle and of course toilet paper in the car, truck or van. I'm a retired soldier and know how to dig a cat hole. We move the front seat up in the car or truck to make more room to sit. The van has plenty of room. Those coin tissues are awesome too.

My mother’s friend had three young boys. It was a long car trip to go see family. They took empty dish soap bottles along in the car for the boys to use, so they didn’t have to stop all the time. When they got to her mother’s, she was helping carry things into the house. She wondered why they brought along so many bottles of dish soap! Lol!
Nothing worse than having a sudden, emergency stomach/intestinal upset while on a hike….been there and HAD to do that!!💕

Two funny stories related to this issue...I was camping where there were no facilities and desperately needed to go. I walked down a good ways from the road and camping area, found what I thought was a perfect spot, and proceeded to go. Wouldn't you know, a piper cub airplane spotted me, flew right over me, and waved a big hello..I could see him laughing! Another time I walked down a steep culvert near a highway. I couldn't see anyone or anything, so it looked like a private spot. So there I am again, all in my glory when a big rig truck zoomed past, blowing his horn for all get out, letting me know he appreciated the view.

A small sanitizer type bottle of Witch Hazel is useful for cleansing, soothing, and for rehydrating dried out wipes. (Water can soften dried out wipes as well.) --- My take on pee-rags? I have no issue with using one for pee, but poop needs paper. --- Another trick is to wear an incontinence pad for "when there wasn't enough time" to get to privacy, dig and go. I carry an extra in the privacy pack and keep backups in the glove box, my hiking/day pack, etc. --- Opening car doors, oh, yeah! Even a 2-door sedan is useful, just be in front of the door, near the hinge (it's better than nothing).

One time in interior Queensland, on a rainforest hike, I had to use a banana leaf as a pee funnel cos the track was very steep and overgrown, so there wasn't room to safely squat. By that I mean if you stay still too long in the rainforest, multiple bugs of questionable danger take interest! So i leaned on my walking pole with one arm and hoped for the best, lol. It actually worked pretty well too. Sometimes you gotta use what's available in a pinch!

I use a feminine urine funnel. At 71 I have knee issues and cannot squat and big rocks are often not available. This handy little funnel goes by many names. Also if you use hiking skits that affords some extra privacy, but you do have to be aware of splash backs. For bowel movements if you can’t find a log or two rocks to rest your bottom cheeks on, that is a different issue. I tend not to go backpacking anymore. A word of caution about the funnels, do not wait till you are at bursting point before you urinate or you will over flow the funnel bowl, ask me how I know.😂

I’m 77 and have a bad hip. I use a seat riser at home, but none of my adult children or my friends do. So I use a portable urinal funnel, too. I’m just waiting for one of the grandkids to walk in and catch grandma standing up to pee! 😂 Mine has a long spout for “easy aiming and no splash-back”. Silicone, soft and flexible. Reusable. Came with a little carry bag. I’m not adept enough to do this by unzipping only, but many can! Useful in multiple situations- the outdoors, long car trips, dirty public restrooms, porta-pottys, AND various disability situations. Thank you ladies for sharing. I thought I might be the only one.

I have been walking, in mixed groups, in woods, and hillwalking for 40 yrs. Never a big thing. Just hang back a bit and find the nearest tree, rock, or ditch, or where the hill angle changes !

I have used the rain poncho trick for privacy, it works like a charm. Just flip your bottom edges outward once you squat.
May I offer a hint for dried wet wipes ? As a frugal ( by necessity) mom , rehydrating those wipes is as simple as trickling water into the pack's opening...just enough to restore the degree of moistness desired ! This can be done even in the field with a small amount from your water bottle . I appreciate your time and knowledge...thank you for sharing so many helpful hints ! Be well...
I also suggest taking along some A&D Ointment for any chafing/irritation you might get "down there" as well as some Imodium in case you suddenly have some digestive issues. You definitely will want to stop that before it gets bad.
As a child while traveling there was no toilet to go to. We opened both car doors and went between them. It was common when l was a child to see this.
Years ago my husband and I and our youngest child went on vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan . There was nothing around and I had to make a nature call . My husband didn’t want to stop because there wasn’t a building at all and no public restrooms . I told him I don’t care I have to go now ! He finally pulled over and I went behind some large pine trees . All I could think is some bear or park ranger was going to come out of the woods and I was going to be in trouble .
Kyle bags are great to use as a trash bag. No one can see the contents. Also keeping disposable gloves in the bathroom pack helps when you forget your water. A short two sided apron can also be good to store in the car to use as a modesty device.

I loved taking really long hikes when I was younger, we had a huge park where I lived that had a 20 mile trail. I would start early and go as far as I could (there were several points where I could bail out and have a short walk back to the car).
One day I found myself really really needing to pee. I looked at my map and saw that there was a parking area & latrine just a bit up the trail. I walked on until I found it and quickly ducked off the trail to answer the call of the bladder.
When I come out of the latrine there's two police officers and another random lady stood there. I put my hands up (because.....police). And one of the police asks me "What were you doing in there?!" I thought this was a silly question but I answered honestly. "I just needed to pee and wash my hands, why?" The cop says that he needs to "check the bathroom out" while I stand in sight of the other cop. (This is all very weird). The cop comes back out and says "the bathroom is clean". He asks again why I was in there and I explain that I was just hiking on the trail through the park and needed to use the bathroom.
Finally the lady speaks up and says that this is private property and NOT the park bathroom, the park bathroom is about another 10 mintues down the trail and that I was actually tresspassing. Of course I apologized profusely.
It was clear to everyone that it was a simple mistake, a questionable trail map, and that there were no "private property" signs between the park trail and the (private) toilets. Thankfully they just gave me a warning since the lady didn't want to press charges and it was obvious I'd just made a simple mistake and wasn't up to anything nefarious.
After that encounter, I made it my goal to learn how to pee standing up. I use something that is basically a long plastic trough that funnels the urine away from my body (and hopefully not onto my shoes). It works pretty well, and also comes in handy in filthy public bathrooms.
When your wipes dry out, add witch hazel. Good for the roids and cleans well.

Wonderfully helpful and much appreciated! I would add that hospital ‘throw-up’ bags are invaluable… you do not have to crunch down and can use it standing, you twist the top to keep the liquid either in it to dispose of it elsewhere or you empty the urine and use the bag to hold used toilet paper until you get back to camp. Then you throw away any paper/TP and rise the bag out to use the next time. This is also very helpful when there is one bathroom in a hotel and your spouse/friend/person with you is using the bathroom and you just cannot wait any longer.

Great tips! I ended up looking into the “funnels” so that you do NOT need to drop your drawers. I chose the Tinklebell but someone else mentioned Pstyle, there is also Go Girl that comes in a tube like you put your coin cloths in- I am a hefty gal and can still manage- though it is an odd feeling standing up like men, but never again do I want headlights on my hiney! 😮
I have had a emergency bathroom kit for a while due to tummy issues. You had those couns in a previous video and I’ve used them and shared information about this wonderful product with friends. I also have a portable bidet (fancy name for a squirt bottle). More people probably find this information helpful than you know! The shovel is a great idea!

As an old hiker and off grid camper, I am surprised you haven’t mentioned the pee funnels they make. It’s a game changer. They look like a funnel they use for putting oil in your car. You just stick it up there without dropping your drawers, and you get to pee like a guy. It’s an amazing invention. No splashing. Clean up is easy.
Except it doesn’t work for me without dropping drawers below my privates.

Like Pam said, if you open the two doors it provides about the best privacy you will get. As I am an older woman with knee replacements I can no longer squat like I did when younger. I love the idea of taking along the tissue coins.

Rose, you might like this one. I bring my portable bidet and a few Kleenex. The bidet is nothing more than a wash bottle with a hooked nozzle (you know, a laboratory wash bottle). You just cut the siphon tube that is inside of the bottle down to 1" and when you turn it upside down, give it a squeeze and you have a simple bidet. It works great! 😃
For poo, use a dog poo bag to pick it up and bin it
no, just poke used paper tissues under dome leaves or dirt. Nature will soon turn it into good soil or dirt for growing things! Ditto for pee and poo. 😊
We were camping in the Big Horn Mountains, one of the girls went outside to pee. She lost her balance and fell into a cactus patch. Us girls ended up with our flashlights looking for cactus spins on her butt. We were about 14 to 15 years old.

On tha Appalachian Trail, I was told that you have to pack out your poop too. You can do it a couple if ways. Use vinyl gloves to pick it up, then carefully pull the glove off over the piop, and tie up. Or use a doggie bag like you carry to parks for your rog. Then you place it in a cannister that hangs on your back pack. This was related to me from a doctor that hiked the Appalachian. I only hike short trails, so I never ran into this problem.

23yr trucker & avid suv camper here. From the start of my trking career up to now, I roll with a Home Depot 2gal bucket & a Pstyle device. The bucket & lid is small enough to accomplish #1 & #2s in most rigs. I use the Pstyle with the bucket 99% of the time in & next to my rig; less splatter & way easier than squatting. Gas station or trk stop paper towels for free TP.👍 Toilet bowl cleaner & h2o in pale to cut smell. Dump after a couple "uses." Scrub pale out & rinse when opportunity arises & roll on!
I carry coin tissues with me everywhere. It seems hotels, resorts and sometimes even your host family don’t supply face clothes. I buy them in 100 pack bags and make sure I have at least 2 per day in my essentials bag when we travel….and more if camping.

In parts of Australia it is literally many hundreds of kilometres between stops and after surgery for birth damage I have some degree of frequency. My grandmother carried a small trash can for urgent pee purposes. If she or one of the kids had to go she would pull over open the car doors like a shield and squat right on the can, then she would walk a bit and dump the can. She would wash it out when she got home and put it back in the car.

I've always wondered what they are! Never had one.
Many years ago, my pastor's wife went on a mission trip to Ukraine. Basically the team was loaded into an empty boxcar to travel cross country. At one point, the train stopped in a remote wooded area for a bathroom stop in the woods. Martha has a bad leg and cannot squat, so she brought a funnel with a length of plastic hose to keep her shoes and clothes dry.
I go hunting with my husband and wear a thicker panty shield as my TP. So if I have to pee quickly (and quietly with little movement when you hunt) I can squat and then pull up my pants and the pad 'wipes' me dry. Then obviously I would wash up at the end of the day.

Those cube towels are great, and I always keep a little pill bottle with water in it in my bag, purse or whatever in case I need a little water for it, although I always carry water with me everywhere, but I just like having that little leak proof bottle on me everywhere. If you can carry a compact umbrella that would provide enough of a privacy wall.
This is a good lesson to learn. During Hurricane Matthew we couldn't get back home and there was no where to pee. Everything was closed. I am now always prepared!!
I back packed the Mountains in New Mexico with scouts(Philmont Scout Ranch). 11 days in the back country. Twice!
They had what they called red roof inns(an enclosed kybo) and open "seats"( sometimes in plain view of everyone). You were lucky if you had thae on your trails. Anyways those were for urine ONLY. Otherwise you dug cat holes. It was a hard lesson for me to learn. Balance is important. Oh while there, we were told to urinate on rocks where we could. The wildlife licks it up for the salts and if its on flora it devastates it and can cause erosion.

I was in the army. When you have to go, you go! I have a. silicone funnel I carry now when I hike. So much nicer than drop and squat! A ziplock bag works well too. I had to go on a small airplane with no bathroom! I had a ziplock with makeup in it. I removed the makeup of course and used the bag. It was perfect. I keep one in my purse all the time now!

We were cross county backpacking "hut to hut" in CO with not a tree in sight! The snow was light and deep so you had to stay in your skis or sink up to your hip. We just told the men to go ahead and completed our business. We didn't have to worry about oncoming traffic and we had a good laugh! Rose, you taught this with respect and thoroughness.
