Cody Johnson is one of the most underrated country artists. He is incredible!! #coronation ❤️❤️
It was originally by Bruce Robison in 1996.
Cody Johnson has a great storytelling ability! Definitely check out "Can't Go Home Again" and "Guilty As Can Be" sometime. It would be absolutely awesome to see you dive deeper down the rabbit hole of "Texas(or "Red Dirt")Country" bands too!
In the Vietnam era, he may not have decided to join. It's very likely he was drafted.
Cody Johnson is one of the best younger male country artists right now. So many of the male singers sound alike and just blend together but his vocals and song choices make him stand out, I think he'll have a long and successful career.
The writer and original artist of this song is one of the best singer/songwriters of the Texas Music Scene, Bruce Robison. He has written and originally recorded hits for several artists. Check out Bruce's versions of Wrapped and Desperately (covered by George Strait) and Angry All The Time (covered by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill). Bruce also has numerous other great songs, 12 Bar Blues, My Brother and Me, just a couple to start with
When I first heard this song hit home for me...Having served in the Navy as field medic for eight years deployed over seas for months at time you can't imagine how much a letter or a call from home means to a service member...You could have had the worse day and you get that letter or a call from home and suddenly your on top of world...When I was deployed my wife and would Valentine Day cards to each other...One year I had to send her one a couple months early. Well when I got to base from a mission there was a card waiting for me...I opened it up and it was the card I had sent to her I thought that maybe i put the wrong address down but I opened it had a letter on it that she had wrote.I thought would she send me my card back and I noticed mail was a few days before I had sent my card...Its wild but we had picked out the same card and sent it to each other...and after she passed I still have both of them in a frame.
Cody is a wonderful singer and entertainer. "On my way to you" is one of my favorites. Very relatable and would be honored if you kindly reacted to it. Thank you.
My favorite version of this song is Aaron Lewis’s version. Except it’s not him singing. I’ve been told it is his daughter singing it. I’m not sure, but it’s on one of his albums.
Your spot on
going to be my wedding song
you didnt get it
Why do you keep posting videos you’ve already posted on the other channel? Getting boring
@English Chris be quiet English Chris you complete clown
Bruce Robison wrote the song. His original version was always my favorite. He wrote the song for the Dixie Chick of which his Sister in Law belonged. Cody Johnsons version is much closer to Bruce's. More of the raw emotions felt.
Cody Johnson is the one reason that I listen to modern country. He is a real one. Thank you for reacting to him.
the way your face dropped was the same as me when i first heard this song.. i loved your reaction.
I'm going to be that person. Dixie Chicks > Cody Johnson. While Cody Johnson is a great singer, the Dixie Chicks do a much better job of diving into the emotional aspect of the song. The Dixie Chicks version has a slower rhythm and fewer instruments which just allows the emotion of the song and overall message to come through much better. Add also, that lyrically the song is more adapted to the narrative of the waitress than the soldier. The line "I cried. Never gonna hold the hand of another guy." just sounds odd coming from the perspective of the soldier rather than the waitress. So, a female singer just fits the narrative and design better. (in my opinion)
For this song yes I agree. Cody has better songs imo but Dixie Chicks definitely are better on this song.
