He was a big back as well !!! 6’3 and 225 pounds and ran like a gazelle. He would be a badass even in today’s NFL!!!! Definitely one of the greatest running backs in nfl history!!!!
To be honest, Eric Dickerson is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. He still holds the league-record for the most rushing yards in a single-season with 2,105. He had a very impressive rookie season with 390 carries for 1,808 yards and 18 touchdowns. His unique running style and consistent performance made him a standout player, and his records and accolades reflect his impact on the game. During his 11-year career, he finished with 13,259 rushing yards and 90 touchdowns. He was also a 6-time Pro Bowler selection. He may not have won a Super Bowl or anything like that, so he definitely was once-in-a-lifetime type of player. He will forever be a Rams legend who made it to the Hall of Fame.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
My guy is Dorsett, but ED was cold wit it.. But he was blessed to have the offensive line front with the Rams and Colts, imagine if Dorsett had that line👌
@@t-sports6773 he didn't have a line like Dickerson had with both the Rams and the Colts! Let alone the line that Emitt Smith had. What injury did Dorsett have when he was playing, I only remember the knee injury in practice when he was a Bronco.
@callawayproducts He was hurt almost every year, missing a game here and there. And please don't get me started on this over blown argument that Emmit's line was way better than that of Dorsett, Sanders, Campbell, or anyone else. I'm a die hard fan and can break it down like no other.
I totally agree with ur older bro! If u weren’t old enough to watch ED play in his prime, he was a sight to see!!! His upright running style made it look so damn effortless while at the same time, he had crazy speed with his big frame.
I played for SMU back in the mid 90's. The story about the TransAm, or Camero depending on who's telling, was that a booster from A&M hooked him up. He allegedly drove the car immediately to SMU to sign with them and of course kept the car. Not sure if that was completely true but there are plenty of stories about him and Craig's 'blessings'!
Barry Sanders did not win a championship, but, given the context of his career, is the greatest running back ever. Dickerson is also up there despite not having a ring.
Eric Dickerson was drafted into Hall Of Fame Draft 1983 John Elway Dan Marino Jim Kelly . Eric scored 18 touchdowns and thousand yards and broke OJ record of over 2000 yards and playoff record 248 yards beat Dallas Cowboys.
My all-time favorite running back is Walter Payton, but I also had great respect for Eric Dickerson. He was a very smooth runner with blazing speed and fluid moves. With a good line ahead of him, he was deadly.
They were playing against far less talented players and much smaller. Jim Brown looked like a giant compared to the other players he would not be doing that in today’s game.
@@Stayoutofthewater522 well if that's the case imagine how much bigger Jim Brown would be if he played today? He was 230 back then, he'd be 250 running a 4.3!!! And that will be do to the fact that he'd have the same access to supplements and training they didn't have back then. Dickerson would have been 205 or 210 had he played in Jim Browns time because he would not have had the training he had in the 80's and 90's
@@Stayoutofthewater522 right but what I am saying is that the 300lbs linemen you mention would be 250 in Jim Browns era. Remember, they wouldn't have the same supplements, and training, so they wouldn't be as big. You can't just put someone in a different era and not give everyone the same access to what these guys are getting now, no sir
Dickerson played against the best defences and some of the greatest defensive players in history. LT, Reggie White, Ronnie Lott, Mike Singletary, Bruce Smith, Howie Long and many others.
The that changed how great players held out for their worth. Emmit Smith held out and everyone screamed "pay him". The same for many stars today. But when you're the first to buck the system, they come after you hard.
Walter Payton is my hero, Dickerson was right up there for at his best Hated the Rams but he was brilliant. Earl Campbell was in that group. Nothing against Emmett but they didn't have the O-line or overall talent he was running with.
The bad thing about the Mount Rushmore of any sport. Is that you're going to have your own. A lot of people might agree with you or take one or two or the whole panel of four off the list. I respect everyone's list. Mine is Jim Brown/Walter Payton/Barry Sanders & Earl Campbell. I wish there could be just one Great Wall. Because Eric Dickerson is on that wall. And he's on people's Mount Rushmore as well. He was a great football player no doubt.

Did Dickerson ever have a decent QB? Rookie Jim Everett… that’s I can come up with. Dickerson took the Rams to the playoffs with Dieter Brock, Vince Ferragamo, Jeff Kemp, and who ever he went to the Playoffs with in Indy was probably not a great QB…. Unless it was Chris Chandler who was at least decent. Dickerson left a consistent playoff bound Rams team and they sucked after he left. He also arrived to a crappy Colts team and they started going to the playoffs. I would say that makes up for not playing in a Super Bowl.
His first three years were legendary. Rams were idiotic to not pay him properly. How you give a man a carrot cake when he breaks the single season rushing record as a reward? It's only five running backs i would want on my team...ED, juice, barry, Payton or Marcus Allen
I'm not a fan of Dickerson, but the lack of a championship is a silly criticism. Are Gayle Sayers or Dick Butkus any less great because they played for bad teams? It's a team sport, remember? If the Chargers of "Air Coryell " had even an average defense they undoubtedly would have at least played in a Super Bowl.

Dorsett had a very good line. He didn't have as many carries, played with a more balanced offense, and was injured more than Dickerson.
