Nice review and good to hear that the A95L and the A95K I purchased are not perceivable different. Bought mine just when the A95L was released for about $700 less but there was that small worry that I was leaving something on the table.
My only gripe with the Sony oleds and confirmed by Sony themselves is it cannot output Dolby vision and VRR at the same time you have to choose one or the other in the hdmi format settings so if you run everything through the avr note if you have a ps5 and want to use vrr you will have to hook it up directly to the tv if you want your 4k blu ray player to be able to use Dolby vision ridiculous that it’s like that when you pay so much for Sony oleds
We are talking about a 1% difference which is barely noticeable to the naked eye when comparing pictures of this tv to the G3. You surely have to go with the better deal then right. The scoring really means nothing to the average cinephile, and they are both great TVs
U keep telling yourself that 😂 We all know they are overrated. Look at the teams they beat, all mediocre teams and even lost to Arizona. Thats not a championship contending team more like pretenders to get embarrassed at home in 1st round for the umpteenth time 😂 @TheMeefive
Hey Andrew great review as always. This tv is on my short list. I have had a Sharp Aquos for over 10 years, still works great. It’s only HD not 4k and still has what I think is a better picture quality than some 4k tv’s I’ve seen. What is your opinion of newer Sharp TV’s. Thanks and have a great Sunday!
Great review Andrew! I have the A95K and I still love it today. Glad to hear there is very little difference (apart from slight brightness) between the K and L models. I totally agree that if they made a 98" Sony A95L, I would grab that very quickly too. BTW: Are you still happy to keep Coach McCarthy??
I never want anyone to lose their job but some of his play calls and clock management seem suspect but then again, I don't envy his position of being little more than a co-head coach alongside Jerry Jones.
Were you able to test it as a center speaker? I know that you gave Acoustic Center Sync a bad mark when reviewing the HT-A9, but I'm curious how it would work with a TV that's known for good audio (by TV standards, of course).
Great review as always, Andrew. I was all set to get an A80L but you really have me coveting the A95L. I know it's the best but it's just hard to justify paying almost double the price for a 65 inch. I'm coming from a 2009 Panasonic plasma so I think the A80L should be quite an upgrade. I look forward to your next video.
Sorry for asking but will you make a review for the upcoming Denon AVC X-6800H? I'm kind of interested in its features and how it sounds but I don't want to buy it before I get a review from you guys🙏
Great Jon. And not surprising. Sony with its processing and pre calibration is just still untouchable. Though, I already miss Christie. Hopefully she'll be back for the next one. Just hearing voice makes my day. And somehow, I suspect that even if she agreed 100% she would have mentioned the cost of Sony Flagship. Yes they price for premium and margin. But is it worth it for the average Joe v Samsung S95C, S90C, or even ummm the meh LG G3 with No Stand! PS, love the sound mixing of your show. Only RUclips (or 1 of 2 MKHB) that I turn on Onkyo Definitive home theater to watch and hear ❤️🤩🥰🙏🏾👏🏾👊🏽

I need a premium tv in several months. My issue is I’m craving the Sony A95L 77, but not expecting a price reduction from 5k-ouch! Do I hold out for new Sony LED flagship or start selling kidneys to get dream tv? No gaming, no daytime viewing other than football (Go Vols!). Classic Hollywood films mostly, not twice weekly Marvel releases! Great video as always!
Thanks for the review on a TV I am considering as an upgrade to my Sony A80J. Missed Kristi’s take though ☹️Only thing holding me back from buying this awesome TV is the price. While I can afford it I don’t want to 😂😂😂
Wait..the review just ended without Kristi! Oh well. Nicely shot btw, with great contrast in the grays and blacks of the jacket, and yes, take comfort (from a Giants fan) in the fact that the Eagles are out of the playoffs as well! Great as the TV is, I'm waiting for the eventual price drop in 97/98 inch OLED's. First world problems when we are debating near perfect picture quality vs waiting for size bumps that only a projector could match only a few short years ago. Sony had a great year!
I don't know how low OLED will drop in price given the logistics surrounding its manufacturing compared to LED, but deals can and often do happen! Thanks for watching as always!
Next year is going to be very interesting as Sony seems to take LEDs to the next level and obviously all others will follow suit changing their backlights to match it since it's going to be marrying a lot of OLED strengths to LED strengths. I think this may be the year where side-by-side TVs may finally resemble the advent of Quantum Dots in 2013/2014 where the Quantum Dot TVs cost $1,500 and looked a generation apart from $10,000 Plasmas and LEDs in Best Buy's Magnolia. It took us 10 years to get a generational leap with all kinds of technologies HDR, MiniLED, MicroLED, OLED, QD OLED. The game-changer had nothing to do with any of these 🙂The solution was the size of the LED driver controlling the lights...
First , I agree OLED TV picture quality is great on most models. Especially so with LG and Sony top of line models. I’m somewhat surprise to NOT hear anything about the history of OLED image burn in issues. Even with image refresh I’ve had this issue. Working on my 2nd LG 65 OLED. If you watch movies 80 % of time you will probably not ever have this issue. After 2 1/2 years Image burn in is back with me again . I’ve read the very latest top line models from LG and Sony have improved on this , think LG on their G series now offer a 5 year warranty on burn in. Truly appreciate all the great insights you and Kristi bring to us ! THANK YOU for your First class production , knowledge and overall experience !
Since I have a Sony receiver thanks to your review, I probably should of got the A95L for the integrations, but I couldn't justify the cost compared to a LG G3 at 77". That said the A95L is technically a 2023 TV, not a 2024. And I think if you compared it to a G3 you would find the comparison to be a lot closer, and the LG to not really need calibration out of the box.
I’ve got this TV with a Denon 3700h and my primary input is Apple TV 4K The audio delay/ sync is giving me trouble. If I enable match framerate (which I do for the best picture/motion quality) the audio goes out of sync. There is a different delay between SDR/HDR/Dolby Vision along with the - different delay between 24/30/60 Hz refresh rate. The denon lets you set different delays between inputs but not frame rates/sdr/hdr etc. Anyone got a solution?
For a dark room, how much "better" is the A95L vs the X95L? If I upgrade I want to go bigger than 77' so if the two are close enough I would spring for the mini-led.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews thanks Andrew. Video idea for later this year after you've tested some of the latest mini LEDs. Maybe a broader video on OLED versus modern mini LED where you can talk about how far the gap has closed in their performance. I think a lot of people are going to be wondering that this year.
Yup. I've got the X95L and it's a piece of crap!!. My Samsung Q9FN from 5 years ago looks better. Can't wait to sell my overrated, over priced Sony crap.@@hclandscapes
Off topic but could really use some help. Just purchased the 702s2 signatures. I’ve watched the video you have reviewing them. Curious what other amps would be a good choice.
Don’t quite agree on OLED vs LEd brightness in bright room. Watching movies is simply not suited for bright room period no matter the tv. Not to mention VA led panels smear reflections horribly which is much worse compared to OLEDs and completely unusable in room with light sources reflecting off the screen. The only case for LED is watching cable TV where you can crank up the brightness, when you don’t care obviously about accuracy. Otherwise in movies where dark scenes are very frequent LED is worse option.
@@mitchellburns92 Again, I have a TV that has one of those huge remotes. I like the reduced size of this remote. But I do NOT want to buy the TV in this video; I want to buy it for an older TV.
I’m getting an error trying to access the EVERYTHING ELSE link (looking for a link to the storage unit the TV is resting on). I tried direct access and copying and pasting the link into a new browser window. Thanks!
I'm sorry, that was an error on my part. The link has been corrected (bit.ly/shopwithAR). At 05:44:15, I tagged something very similar to what we have that is going to be of similar quality and actually costs less than what we paid for ours. (refresh your video browser to see it)
My room is pretty light controlled - I asked a good friend about his past experiences with OLED vice the new Mini-LED he just got (85” Sony 4K X95L, $4298). His room is pretty bright so he prefers & went with the Mini-LED. - I also watched a few reviews on his model tv to get more insight into what those might offer over a top end OLED. My question is with an easily light controlled room, would I be better off with a nice high end Sony (A95L 77”/$4998 or 77” LG G3/$3497), or the 85” Mini-LED at a few hundred less? My main concern is if the PQ will be better on one or the other, (I’m guessing most will say the OLED has the better picture), tho the Mini-LED will be brighter. If it is the brighter option, will the PQ be As Good as an OLED, or almost, not quite…? Thx.
Thanks for the video ♥️ ........ Which one is better especially in lifespan... (TCL 43 s5400a) or (Samsung t5300) or (skyworth 43 Google tv)........ please reply 🙏🙏🥰🥰
11:10 well I'll let you slide on this one since I am a Cowboys fan and even I as a fan I'm disappointed. My wife just bought me a 75" Sony X90L that was my second choice for a TV because OLED is too risky as everyone watches the living room TV. But Hisense, TCL and these low end TV's I'm done! The A95L is amazing but $5,000 no way could I justify that! Great video ✌️
Sounds great, but it is to soon for me to replace my A90J. However I am for sure a Sony fan, the only real bother I have is that their Bravia Core(BC) streaming service can only be extended by buying more premium Sony stuff. The two years that came with my A90J would have run out had I not bought one of their phones, so while I did pick the phone for its features an extra year of BC was a nice bonus - the video and audio quality of the BC streaming puts the other services to shame, only you do need a fast internet connection.
@@KristiWright For sure. While I am sure image quality has become even better, without a side by side comparison I bet most would be happy withe the A90J as am I. One of the small details that is bothering me is that the remote has these silly short cut buttons for some select streaming services, to me those should instead have been short cut buttons one could customize. And I see those are on the new remotes also and in a way the advertising is also on the screen, with the software pushing info about content on streaming services I don't subscribe to.
Great video A.R. I am looking for a new 85 inch LG or Sony my budget is $3k MAX. What did you see at CES? I sale 12v audio and video and have some access to these brands. Your opinion matters. I am a serious movie guy.
Hi Andrew, I tried getting my a95l calibrated. They told me I don't need to. I know you mentioned cinema and professional was accurate. Have you tried imax enhanced? Is that mode accurate too ? The calibrators recommended me to set it that way.
I did a calibration on my a95l. I dont use the new picture mode (pro1 and pro2) looks not good. And wene u look on dolby vision ore imax from Sony core u dont use calibration any way. So skipp it. And save 150$
What I’m really curious about is the impact Sony will have on the industry and customer base by using MicroLED for their flagship this year instead of OLED. Being a diehard OLED fan, I’m super curious about it. And Sony being Sony, their TVs are top notch in every way. I just wish they had more than 2, 2.1 ports on them and Arc being separate from those. Being privileged enough to have Xbox PS5 and a separate sound system running off of Arc, it’s a necessity for me.. great video and I can’t get enough how good the videos look of recent. Picture quality is just stunning in the reviews! Bravo! Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday and is staying warm and safe! Still miss Kristi’s thoughts. #therobinsoncrew
Yeah, I'm with you. I honestly think we may be experiencing "peak OLED" here. As a result, a company like Sony, which survives on innovation, may have just tipped their hat as to where the real future of display tech lies.
The triangular arrangement of the subpixels is a showstopper for me. This results in colour fringing and loss of text clarity. Horizontal black bars will have a red or green fringe because of the non-standard subpixel layout. Too bad, I would have splurged on the "77 model but will have to wait for an OLED panel that uses a regular RGB layout (no extra "W" either, please).
Well it looks like you ain't buying an OLED then. All OLEDs on the market currently then I'm aware of from everybody from Panasonic to LG to Samsung and of course Sony either use a WoLED panel which has a white subpixel or a qdoled or in the case of LG a woled panel with a layer of micro lenses on top to enhance brightness.
@@Audiorevue Yes, I'm afraid I'll have to wait until a panel with an RGB layout will become available. Currently, to the best of my knowledge, no such panel exists. Perhaps there never will be one; mini-LED is getting better, though.

Is it possible to do a A95K review and what your thoughts of the tv in 2024 comparatively...?
Hi Andrew and Kristi, great video 👍🏼 Have you test it with Dolby Vision content? Did you had any issues?
I didn't notice any DV issues when viewing that content via Netflix or other apps that supported it.
Thank you for answer, greetings from Munich 👋🏼🙂
I guess that answers the question to myself, of whether it’s worth going from my 65” A95K to a 65” A95L.
Good morning from Ottawa 🇨🇦 👋🏻
Morning!
Hello! How cold is it there today?
@@KristiWright hey Kristi, currently-15C, feels like -25C. So that’s 5F feels like -9F in American 🥶 needless to say, I envy you in the desert right now. Im dressed like Randy in A Christmas Story 😝
Ugh! That sounds awful! We're spoiled for sure. @@MatthewMcGowan Hope the week gets warmer for you!
Nice review and good to hear that the A95L and the A95K I purchased are not perceivable different. Bought mine just when the A95L was released for about $700 less but there was that small worry that I was leaving something on the table.
In everyday viewing, I don't believe you've left much on the table. Enjoy your A95K, we love ours!
U sold me on the sony a8h and now your selling me on the a95l , nicely done review as always .
thanks for watching!
Faster than the end of another Cowboy’s season 😂😂😂
That was one of my contributions. ;P
Technically the Cowboys had a great season. They won the NFC East. It's the playoffs that were disappointing for some people
U keep telling yourself that 😂 We all know they are overrated.
Thank you for your review and yessss a need this one
Is it worth upgrading from a90j ? I mean will I see or feel the wow factor?
Nailed. QD OLED is a compelling bedroom gaming room TV. How do we get that picture at 98"?
Love to hear from the out the box specs......thanks a lot guys.
I am only interested in 85 " size , hope in 2025 will be A95M as 85 inch 😊😊😊😊
Danke!
Thank you!!
My dream TV. I'm waiting for it to come down just a few hundred bucks and I'll get it.
SAME I HAVE THE A95K. I MIGHT WAIT TIL BLACK FRIDAY TO GET THIS TV.
How come u wanna upgrade so soon? @@MrBrickhouse
Get the A95L and have no regrets! The A80L just isn’t good enough for proper HDR content
She's still here and will be back next week. Thanks for the compliment. I consider it high-praise to be mentioned in the same sentence as MKBHD, so thank you!
And pleae except my apologies for spelling Kristi's name wrong. You to are unsurpassed. I would blame autocorrect on my small phone. But it was just waking up from a long night. Thank you again for being my favorite RUclips show. And that Cowboy comment was FN hilarious 🤣
Go 9ers v Ravens!
If not then Lions v Bills.
Cheers 🍻
I need a premium tv in several months. My issue is I’m craving the Sony A95L 77, but not expecting a price reduction from 5k-ouch! Do I hold out for new Sony LED flagship or start selling kidneys to get dream tv? No gaming, no daytime viewing other than football (Go Vols!). Classic Hollywood films mostly, not twice weekly Marvel releases! Great video as always!
Love my A95K so good to hear I can keep it for now 😂
Love my A95L
Thanks for the review on a TV I am considering as an upgrade to my Sony A80J. Missed Kristi’s take though ☹️Only thing holding me back from buying this awesome TV is the price. While I can afford it I don’t want to 😂😂😂
Help buying tv this week , should I go with the LGG4 or A95L ?
Appreciate you watching, Steve! I'm still here!
@@KristiWrightaiaia we need your voice
I appreciate that@@onchuner
This is a flagship TV people quit complaining about how high it is! They wouldn’t make it if it wouldn’t sell.
I quite miss Kristi's voice closing the video. It does not feel right. BTW, nice TV. Keep up the good work!
Could I get your settings for the A95k?
9:44 Hi Andrew. In that case, are you looking at any of the new mini-LEDs, or perhaps the LG G4 or M4, at around 100" this year?
We will be looking at as many new TVs in 2024 as possible.
THANK YOU for your First class production , knowledge and overall experience !
they have improved big time with burn in
Thanks! Sony is the best for video and once they get the board changed out for all 2.1 HDMI I will be getting that model in an 83" version.
An all 2.1 board would be a nice add.
This is the best tv money can buy.
I’ve got this TV with a Denon 3700h and my primary input is Apple TV 4K
The audio delay/ sync is giving me trouble.
Anyone got a solution?
return it problem solved
For a dark room, how much "better" is the A95L vs the X95L? If I upgrade I want to go bigger than 77' so if the two are close enough I would spring for the mini-led.
If you can control the light then all things being equal the A95L is the "better" of the two, but you're limited in size.

I had the X95l and personally hated almost everything about it,
It’s no match compared to the A95L that I replaced it with
Yup. I've got the X95L and it's a piece of crap!!. My Samsung Q9FN from 5 years ago looks better. Can't wait to sell my overrated, over priced Sony crap.@@hclandscapes
do you think using an older qd-oled panel instead of the new ones will hurt this TV? Since I dont think sony is releasing a new OLED tv this year
Hi Andrew, Please suggest 9.2.4 HT setup using Q5040, Q5090,Q5020, SVS SB3000(Dual), DM95(Heights, Celling) and Marantz SR8015. is this setup good?
Off topic but could really use some help. Just purchased the 702s2 signatures. I’ve watched the video you have reviewing them. Curious what other amps would be a good choice.
Available in 55 65 and 75 inch sizes and you're seeing the 77 inch here???
Don’t quite agree on OLED vs LEd brightness in bright room. Watching movies is simply not suited for bright room period no matter the tv. Not to mention VA led panels smear reflections horribly which is much worse compared to OLEDs and completely unusable in room with light sources reflecting off the screen. The only case for LED is watching cable TV where you can crank up the brightness, when you don’t care obviously about accuracy. Otherwise in movies where dark scenes are very frequent LED is worse option.
Hey Andrew did u get to go ces and check out some stuff hope u get some of those tvs and soubdbars to review
Does Sony offer the remote seen here separately? I have recent Sony TVs and hate the excessive buttons.
Remote as seen is included with TV
@@mitchellburns92 Didn't read my question. I wanted to buy this remote for my current TV.
@@tjnies My apologies, just read your question again. The remote is included with the TV, no need to be purchased separately.
@@mitchellburns92 Again, I have a TV that has one of those huge remotes. I like the reduced size of this remote. But I do NOT want to buy the TV in this video; I want to buy it for an older TV.

Just make sure you turn off all the eco rubbish and light sensor. With out a doubt the best...
I really don’t care about tv audio. Have a 5.1 system so haven’t used tv speakers in 7 years.

Thx.
A95L almost matches X95L in terms of brightness, but the blacks on A95L steal the show.
get the oled man you can easily see banding with led
I think I’m happy with my Sony A90J 83”
Me too. Especially after it's pro. calibrated. That made a huge difference.

Hey Andrew talking about vessi shoes I first saw it on Tim Lee if u like cooking shows and the best thing is it's waterproof
I love mine! Haven't seen that channel but I do enjoy cooking.
Raised a Cowboy's fan...Btw, I wrote that line ;-P.
FWIW I'm a Cowboys fan myself, but it's getting ridiculous year after year watching them come up short.

I have the 65 A95K and always use Custom (guess its Professional on the L), but did you find Custom mode more accurate?
I believe this is covered here 04:28
@@KristiWright Yeah I had only heard Standard and Cinema when I typed that - sorry!
@@LeezahB No worries.
The A90J is still a very good TV.
That TV went on clearance last Black Friday at Walmart
You like the A95L it better than the LG G3
I'm hoping that Sony will be back in the OLED game next year because the current price of the A95L is steep.
Pricey, yes.
Great video A.R. I am looking for a new 85 inch LG or Sony my budget is $3k MAX. What did you see at CES? I sale 12v audio and video and have some access to these brands. Your opinion matters. I am a serious movie guy.
does these have network browser built in ? smb etc ? thnx
Can this TV not be used with a ceiling mount?
It supports 300 x 300 mounts.
Just saw a very informative Emotiva video about now much power you need. Thought it was your brother Andrew,..but no nine years old
Hi Andrew, I tried getting my a95l calibrated.

Good morning, Vadym!
Yeah, I'm with you. I honestly think we may be experiencing "peak OLED" here. As a result, a company like Sony, which survives on innovation, may have just tipped their hat as to where the real future of display tech lies.
@@LeezahB good morning! ☀️
@@andrewrobinsonreviews definitely. Hope you get one to review soon!
@robinsonbrand have you tested it with the HT-A9? I’m considering getting the 77” A95L
We did not. That product had to be sent back to Sony.
