Recently started listening to April Wine after finding a buying a vinyl copy of The Nature of the Beast. Killer album. But this song has become my favorite so far. Greetings from Sweden!
I bought this cassette at the Fort Rucker PX in 1985 because my brother told me it was a cool band I should listen to. He was right. Still love their music.
I TRULY, DULY, REGRET NOT GOING TO Y'ALL'S CONCERTS!! Y'ALL ARE STILL RED, WHITE 'N' BLUE TRUE PATRIOTIC AMERICAN ROCK 'N' ROLL HOMESKILLETS! ❤️🥁🎶🎹🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶😎🤟🤘🤙✌️👊
I'd completely forgotten about these guys until I saw a copy of Animal Grace on vinyl at a Giants of Rock weekend. Now I can't get it out of my head. : )
Love the tune....they tune down a half step though, D#. for some reason my strat hates lower turnings.Maybe I should try more than 3 springs on the trem.....
Last good album for a while. Every album ( except the wimpy Forever For Now is worth buying. The early albums featuring Jim Clench will always be my favorite. What a voice! ‘like silk’. If they would would have waited a little longer after ‘ Nature’ and had stronger songs on Power Play, they would have become a name band in my county(U.S.) , I mean like REO, Styx status. I often think of another brilliant band from the U.K. STRAWBS. Like the APRIL WINE boys, they were too diverse. I mean, have one, or two even change of pace tunes, but the album must have a stamp. Are you a love song band? Are you a power pop band? Are you hard rockers with metal overtones? What are you? In Strawbs case, are you a working class worker champion, a folk group? Are you out and out rockers, or a great prog group?? I mean I know and love most 85% of April Wine’s music and about 80% of the Strawbs music but both bands should be household name groups in America. Food for thought for the next multi - instrument wonder boys out there who want to show the world how diverse and wonderful you are, All we want are good memorable, hook laden songs.
The Hard Rock stations can have their AC DC, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Van Halen, and Twisted Sister. Give me April Wine over these artists anyday.
Plus, this song wasn't even good. I finally bought *Animal Grace* on CD years later, and learned real quickly why it was dead on arrival: It was way too slick and over-produced The lead-off track and single "This Could Be The Right One" was decent and catchy, but pretty mediocre overall. The only really good song on that album is "Hard Rock Kid," and that was inexplicably never released as a single. "Sons Of The Pioneers" just flat-out sucked.
Sad you feel that way. My experience was this song was like a time stamp to a better time in the world we lived in. I loved just driving aimlessly listening to songs like this.
With 16 studio albums, this album, Animal Grace, at times get put on the back burner. It is however a great Album. Their catalog is extensive so not all their Albums can be viewed as the 'best one'.
The band are peak ability and some of the musical moves are pretty good, but like Power Play it gets pretty sterile. The mix is terrible, that fucking hi hat is obnoxious. This band never had any style (their videos are a joke, directionless) and Myles could have used some perspective in what he was doing with this good but half baked project. It's not bad but there was no reason to care about these songs like earlier albums.
@@j_freed Unfortunate but true. Their last great album in their original run is *The Nature Of The Beast.* At least they came-back STRONG with *Attitude* in 1993 and *Frigate* in 1994.
SONS OF THE TRULY PIONEERS: Sergei Korolev: the rocket genius behind Yuri Gagarin. 50 YEARS AGO, YURY GAGARIN BECAME THE FIRST MAN IN APACE. But the unsung hero of the Soviet Union's triumph was a brilliant scientist THE MAN WHO WOULD LEAD THE WORLD INTO THE SPACE AGE, SERGEI PAVLOVICH KOROLEV, was born on 12 January 1907, in Zhitomir, in modern-day Ukraine.
This song is really fuckin good but but but the dude with the mullet... Ah I guess it was the style at the time. Business in the front and party in the back hehe. stunpals(dotcom)
Started listening to April Wine when I was 13. I'm 59 now. Have always loved these guys but this album was my least favorite. Other than that they Rock and will always be one of my favorites
So much talent here wasted in a dull, sterile album that is mixed like a turd. All because Myles G was afraid of becoming 'a casualty of the Eighties' with all that synth crap and bad drum sounds. Wonder how Animal Grace would sound recorded as a rock album? Wonder how the band would have done if they kept their old sound, like stuff that got popular later?
Amen at this point it's like they were looking at Yes, Asia etc scratching their heads like whuh!? Guys you are a guitar driven rock band and there is nothing better stick to your guns! I've listened to all their albums over the decades but they kinda lost me after Nature Of The Beast! There was a lot of good music in the '80s but it seemed some rock bands had identity crisis' with all the synth's.
From what it's worth,at this time the band's days were numbered, they wanted to disband, however they owed their record company this album and walking thru fire, sadly they sound mixing was not better quality, within a couple years of this album April Wine would end.

A very underrated April Wine classic that totaly rocks.
Glad you enjoy❤
@@aprilwine7976 I sure did enjoy this Hard Rock classic from the best Hard Rock band out of Canada.
It's sad that Myles is no longer around.
Got this on cassette for my 15th birthday ( I'm 45 now ), awesome album through and through:)
Racine Evans I didn't discover A.W. until '94 (I'm always behind on these things); they are my favorite band now.
I graduated in 1981, last day of my senior year in hs I saw them in concert, what a great memory. Thank-you April Wine!
Excellent, EXCELLENT song!
Thank you! 🤟

Absolutely amazing and like there sound!!!
Amazing song Recorded at LE STUDIO Morin-Heights along with 4 Wine albums
Yeah and up until not to long ago Myles was living in Québec.
These guys could write some songs!
No matter who you are or where your from, what you want to be or achieve, you first have to be the man inside the helmet.
Very definition of EPIC. My first listen to this 2022
This is a great song.
Thank you!

Me encanta este video clip, bastante mistico, futuristico y interesante.

I thought this band was Canadian- From Nova Scotia actually, is that correct?
Yep
Yes,they started in Halifax and a little later moved to Montreal.
kinda sucks that they cut out half the guitar solo for the video timing...... cause guitars are what its all about !!!
i think this was the album that ended the april wine era of greatness. the synth just turned off so many fans who went elsewhere to rock.

First April Wine album I bought...on cassette!

Ten bucks. The cheap plastic cover breaks so easily. @@tomh9315

April Wines popularity had slipped by the mid 80s but Animal Grace is fantastic. Their most underrated album in my opinion
The great black diamond inhibition.
I loved this album, even though it sounds like it was recorded inside of an empty coffee can.
Very true, the band was close to being broken up .
The band are peak ability and some of the musical moves are pretty good, but like Power Play it gets pretty sterile. The mix is terrible, that fucking hi hat is obnoxious.

Animal grace is a great melodic rock album , one of their best with Frigate and back to Mansion
what album is this from
Animal Grace.
This whole album is amazing...too bad it took a beating on their downfall...brilliant songwriting.
Calgary 81
Great album, though the sound quality suggests that it was recorded in an empty soup can. 'Gimme That Thing Called Love' is my favorite.
I drank wine with an April.
That song did NOT chart in the United States on Billboard.
Nope, because it sucked ass and certainly not the good kind.
Because it got no radio airplay, like a lot of the music they produced after they got back together in the early '90's.... America's loss....

Considering all the poser bands that came out of the 80's, I think they should have made the shift to denim and leather. It worked for Judas Priest.
