    I'm 57, been to over 450 concerts, growing up in Washington state, we would either see shows in Seattle or up in Vancouver British Columbia. This band, is one if the bands that is better live than on record, killer live act, underrated band in my opinion, always worth the money to see them on stage

      Fantastic Music, just not much of a LIVE act.
      In 1981/1982 I saw April Wine at Detroit's Cobo Arena, they were fantastic.
      April Wine performed a song live that used a Steel Triangle, I don't know the name of the song, however it blew everyone away at the concert. Does anyone knows what song I'm trying to think of?

    Heard the sad news today of the passing of Myles Goodwyn, December 3, 2023. So, thought I'd take a trip down memory lane and reminisce with a band that played the backdrop of my youth. April Wine was one of the hardest working bands especially of the 70's and 80's, blasting hit after hit after hit, and they just kept coming. IMHO they didn't get the recognition they deserved. April Wine was one of the best live acts to see and Myles was one of those multi-talented singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer people that stood out like no other. This band is so awesome it kills me. I am so thankful for their countless hits. So proud to be Canadian! RIP Myles Goodwin!

    I’m 66 now and from Canada and they rolled through our town a lot in the 70’s so got to see them a lot they were so good live better then their studio albums you had to see them live to appreciate them,unfortunately so underrated and I’m so amazed that they weren’t bigger they were definitely a hard working band.RIP you can now all jam together in Rock heaven.

    25:25 the leavel of interaction between 3 guitars, and how do you not hear you Miles voice give it the mellow tone. Three solos all on top of each other with harmony. TALENT ! ! !

    sign of the gypsy queen is one of the best songs I ever heard from a guitarist perspective. The riff and melodies are out of this world.

    • @Darin.Pearson
      @Darin.Pearson Год назад +5

      Sign of the Gypsy Queen was written 100% by Lorence Hud and performed 100% acoustic on his debut solo album. Look it up. Myles and Lorence were friends. They co-wrote "Victim for Your Love" on "Stand Back". One of my favorites from April Wine.

    • @gm-lb9oe
      @gm-lb9oe Год назад +5

      @@Darin.Pearson Yes I live in the city where Lorence grew up, he went to our university here, and he wrote sign of gypsy queen for his music class. As far as I remember, his music prof really didn't think it was that good. Hopefully hes not a prof anymore, he was sure wrong. R I P myles , up there with Eddie and the gang, rocking away 🙏

    • @Darin.Pearson
      @Darin.Pearson Год назад +2

      @gm-lb9oe That's awesome. My dad had his first solo album so I heard "Sign of the Gypsy Queen" long before April Wine recorded it. "Master of Pantomime" is also a great song. I didn't realize Lorence also co-wrote Victim for your Love until Myles credited him to the audience on a live performance. Another great Lorence composition. Thanks for sharing your story. I still have Lorence's first album in excellent condition. I had it professionally recorded onto a CD.

      @@Darin.Pearson hey, oh wow. I sure wish I had a copy of that. Last I heard about lorence, he moved out to Ontario, Canada, and was fighting our government or the Ontario provincial government about a creek that was running through his property. He put up barricades, the whole nine yards. I'm sure if you Google him, the story will come up. Can't believe you have the record, wow, keep in great condition. He sure had a gift of writing music thats for sure 👍

    I got to see April Wine on the POWER PLAY tour in 1982 or 1983 in Kansas City. Eddie Money opened. I thought they were an underrated band that should have been as big in the States as other AOR giants like Styx, Foreigner, Journey, and REO Speedwagon (to name a few). Their albums were consistently good with very little 'filler.' Glad I got to see April Wine in their prime! 👍

    Rest in peace Myles Goodwyn!!! I saw them live in 2017, or 2019 one of them and it was amazing!!! he could not sing like he used to, but it was still amazing they played great and he gave all the energy he had for a hour and a half when really it was only supposed to be one hour, I was so happy to see them and wished I could have seen them again, I did get the chance during Covid to see them in 2021 but sadly they had to cancel due to them catching Covid, but still getting to see them once was amazing and I am so glad I got that chance!!! we love you Myles good luck on your next journey!!!
