      Avoid applying it to your eyelids, as this can really irritate that sensitive and thin skin.

      If you do decide to use it, I would recommend the 0.2% over the 1%. Firstly, it's just as effective in terms of results but causes less irritation and dryness. And if you still experience any dryness, you could follow up with their 'Natural Moisturizing Factors', if needed. Alternatively, you can use the hyaluronic acid serum they offer before applying the retinol.

      Do you use a Hyaluronic Acid toner, serum, or moisturizer? Can you tell me the name of the product? If it's a toner or serum, use it before applying the Retinol because the Retinol is in Squalane, which is heavier than a simple HA toner or serum. And no, you do not need to apply Hyaluronic Acid on 'damp' skin.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

      It's generally recommended to apply potentially irritating skincare products like retinol to dry skin. Applying to wet or damp skin can increase product absorption, risking more irritation. Wet skin can also dilute the product, decreasing its effectiveness, and moisture can disrupt the skin's natural barrier, increasing sensitivity to irritants.

      @@cdg4862 Our skin's natural acidity keeps the skin barrier strong and controls harmful bacteria. However, excess moisture, especially from neutral or alkaline water, can disrupt the skin's pH balance. The outermost skin cells, called corneocytes, may swell when exposed to excessive water, potentially causing gaps in the skin barrier. This can make it easier for irritants or allergens to enter the skin, leading to heightened sensitivity or reactions.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Год назад

      Hey!
      In most cases, no. It primarily depends on your day-to-day activities. If you do not spend hours outdoors (in the sun/when the UV index is high) and/or sit in front of a window where the sunlight hits your skin, then no, you generally don't need to reapply sunscreen. Apply it properly in the morning, and it should last you the entire day. However, if you spend a lot of time outdoors, especially when the UV index is high, or sit in front of a window with direct sunlight, then it's recommended, especially after sweating, swimming, or if the sunscreen has been rubbed off.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Год назад +1

      Several factors can contribute to dark circles, such as genetics, aging, allergies, and lifestyle habits.
      Consider the following common tips to address dark circles:
      Sleep: Ensure that you are getting enough quality sleep, ideally 7-9 hours per night.
      Hydration: Drink enough water to stay hydrated, as dehydration can worsen dark circles.
      Healthy diet: Consume a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin C, vitamin E, and iron.
      Cold compresses: Apply a cold compress to the under-eye area for 10-15 minutes daily to constrict blood vessels and reduce puffiness.
      Elevate your head: Use an extra pillow to elevate your head while sleeping, which can help reduce fluid retention in the under-eye area.
      Sun protection: Wear sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, which can worsen dark circles.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  Год назад +3

      I suspect the retinol isn't as effective anymore, but 2 months isn't really a long duration. It usually needs at least 3-6 months for noticeable results. I also suspect that the squalane in the formulation might not be ideal for those with acne. The La Roche hydrating face wash and the Olay hydrating moisturizer are typically meant for dry skin. I suspect you have normal or oily skin, don't you? 🤔
      Based on this, here's what I'd recommend for a skincare routine:
      Morning:
      Clean your face using one of the cleansers from this link: ruclips.net/user/shortsqMd1tWxPWLM
      Pat your face dry.
      Apply sunscreen (only if you're going to be exposed to sunlight; otherwise, you can skip this step).
      Evening (Monday, Wednesday, Friday):
      Clean your face with one of the recommended cleansers from the link above.
      Pat dry.
      Apply the Good Molecules 0.1% retinol cream.
      For days when you're not using retinol and if you experience acne flare-ups, consider following the guidance in this video: ruclips.net/video/ZAqfCERnwkc/видео.html
      If you're not having any acne flare-ups, simply clean your face with the regular cleanser and apply sunscreen if you anticipate prolonged sun exposure.
