@Raphael Oliveira What is the right age to incorporate retinol in skincare routine ? I am 21 year old and I was curious to know what is the right age to start using retinol for anti aging benefits.
I'm currently working on building my tolerance with retinol 0,5%. I did start with using it 1 day per week over the course of 2 weeks, then I used it 2 times per week - but I've noticed redness higher on my cheeks, so I had to go back to using it once per week. I guess I just have to watch how my skin reacts. Thanks for all the information :)
I have been using 0.1 retinol for two months, i actually apply all over including the eye area. But i saw some derm online instructing not to run the retinol but to spread a thin layer. I became super sensitive to my sunscreen that i have been using for more than two years, it will irritate me every single time. Stopping to use a dallop and go with pea size. THESE ARE INFO THAT HELPS and she's giving these out for free😢
I always watch her videos and think: "wow, I love my dermatologist, she is competent and very clear in her explanations" ❤❤ The only problem is that I never stepped in her office. 🤣🤣

I love how she just randomly pulls out items from her purse. She reminds me of that sweet auntie who recommends something and digs deep from her purse of never-ending items then shows you "oh this is what I use, darlin. Try it, iss good! You can keep it if you like!" :))))
Please talk about sunblocks for sensitive or irritated skin because most mineral one leave a white cast or just oxizied when we put it. And thank u for sharing this nice topics with us
Even though sensitive skin is different for everyone, I thought I would share my sunscreen as I am prone to rashes: Elta MD Elements Tinted. I was using the Elta MD UV Clear Tinted but wanted all mineral and I like the elements one even more...absolutely no reaction or white cast. The Colorescience Tinted one is also great but more pinkish. If you have neutral to warm-toned skin the ELta Tinted should work well.
I think the consensus now is that chemical sunscreens are linked to cancer so I'd rather use a zinc one and look like a ghost/put makeup over it than have a greater risk of cancer.

Hi not a professional, but I was prescribed Tazaortene when I was 17 for acne and hyperpigmentation. I have been using it for five years now with no problems, and from my research you can safely start retinol use in your teenage years
Gurl, I’m 51 and have not used Retinols yet. Just ordered some and excited to get started slowly as I do have roseacea. Thank you for sharing this info!
Wish I’d been more educated when I first started using tret 10 years ago- I was “more is more” type til I saw how much it aged me! Scared the hell out of me, took years to have courage to start again.
If you use too much you’ll get irritated inflamed skin. I saw myself in harsh daylight and noticed lots of crepey skin around my eyes. Just rougher complexion overall. When I tried again about 5 years ago I was sure to go slow and easy. No issues and saw marked improvement after several months.
I have eczema and I tried adapalene for my acne/scars and it worked like a champ but it was painful! but I admit I went too hard😬 so I did my research and I am planning to give it another chance in a much gentler way. Thanks for the tips💜
I am 56. I tried Tretinoin for an entire year. Every three nights then two then every night for the first couple months. Moisturizer before, moisturizer after... before AND after. My skin was ALWAYS red and flakey. Thank goodness I had nowhere to go thanks to the Rona. About 2 weeks ago I gave up. Not going back. I wish everyone who tries to use it all the luck in the world!
you should try it again but stick to a lower % and only use once or twice PER week if your skin couldn't handle it before. my skin never used to like tret but since the beginning of this year i no longer get irritation from it.
You are a true Godsend! I have had adverse reactions to Retinol in the past, so per your recommendation I am taking it really slow this time! Only once a week now, and I will gradually increase my usage! Thank you so much for all your advice!

Please, make a video on skincare devices(red light, current tool, nuface, and more), is it worth saving money and buying them for a long term results, or is it not efficient enough and going to aesthetician who uses similar devices would be more effective (better tools) ?

Thank you for talking about the neck and chest! I started 0.025% tret + clindamycin combo three weeks ago, and decided to use it on my neck (over a thick moisturizer) every ten nights. Seems to be OK so far! I've had a few zits pop up in the area but they haven't been the inflamed variety.
When Dr Idriss says you shouldn't use retinol on the area around your mouth and I''ve been using epiduo for the last 8 months only on my chin area to beat hormonal acne.. :') My skin only tolerates it 3 times a week and AFTER moisturizer. But so far it's working great :) and I've done 2 rounds of accutane! guess you have to find whatever works for your skin.
When I started retinoid, I would sandwich it. Essentially I'd use a very light moisturizer on a damp face, let it dry completely, then my prescription retinoid followed by a heavy moisturizer. Then I began to put it on directly and never had an issue. Highly recommend it if you're sensitive.
@@explorer4563 I’ve seen other videos and people have said the earlier u start the better. I feel like maybe early 20’s would be a good start. If your younger maybe start wearing sunscreen everyday!
I love the A313 that you recommended in your previous retinol video. I've been using it for the past few months, and it's really transformed my skin. However, I then found a video by the dermatologist Dr Dray saying that there is no science to support A313, and that it was little more than a nice moisturiser. Could you possibly talk about this in your next retinol video? Love your videos, and thank you for sharing your expertise. I can't financially afford to see a derm so your channel is a blessing!
I started with a low dose of tretinoin from curology. Bad move! Granted I have dry and sensitive skin but it has taken me about a year to get my skin back to somewhat normal. I am now easing into FAB retinol.
My dermatologist who I've known for 40 years has always promoted Retin A. He has said everything you have said EXCEPT use only the Retin A at night and do not use any other products with it, including a moisturizer. I have always used Retin A (Micro cream 0,05 in my case) this way. Your opinion on not combining with other products especially moisturizer? Additionally, the two moisturizers you like are in containers that you must dip your fingers in. Easily to contaminate. Kind regards.
How come nobody’s asked what brand of lipstick is that? Love the stunning color. Can you also tell what color you have on your hair? Its beeeautiful habibti! ♥️
This is so helpful. I have dry, very sensitive, rosacea prone skin (and nut allergies) and the esthetician at my dermatologist office told me to start with a .05% RX retinol, plus bleaching pads (for my melasma), plus a vitamin c serum and a biopeptide cream. No way I'm trying all those new things at once lol.
It is not mentioned enough that if you use a retinoid like tret, it can break down in artificial light too. Apply that at night with minimal lighting around you.
THANK YOU MY DEAREST RED LIP BEAUTY! I’m so excited to be starting my own skincare routine with the products you recommend that are tailored to my needs. yeah... I use way more retinol than that. but I don't find mine spreads well enough to use less... Your moisturiser reccomendations are increadible. They've absolutely been, without a doubt, the key to my tolerance and consistent use of retinol.
Great video and you look amazing in the red lipstick! Can you please do a video on skincare for 20s, 30s, 40s, etc and on devices like NuFace? I’m wanting to try it but I have concerns about going at my face with electricity on a regular basis and any long term negative effects of that.

Excited for a purging video explanation from Dr. Idriss, because i absolutely believe it true, real, and not a myth for both of us and its a bit conflicting from what i experienced and what other dermatologists say, my dermatologist included.
Dr. Idriss, will you please do a routine for people in their 20s who don't necessarily have wrinkles but love to take care of their skin?
wear suncreen everyday as a start. i didnt wear it until my mid-30's and i sooo regret it
@@corsicanlulu I also only recently have started to take Sunscreens seriously. It's so important. Thanks

@Raphael Oliveira What is the right age to incorporate retinol in skincare routine ?
I am 21 year old and I was curious to know what is the right age to start using retinol for anti aging benefits.
@@explorer4563 you don’t need retinol at 21 just take care of your skin use sunscreen
Can you do a Day and Night routine showing what products you use please?Your skin is always flawless 💕
You look like a movie star. I love your hair! And I'm eagerly soaking up this video!
Oy vey.
Where has the doctor been all my life she make things so simple I can understand it!!!
Dankeschön for the video - this gradual approach makes sense. The lipstick, the hair - you look like you are about to conquer the world.
I really appreciate you telling not put it in mouth area, that is the most thing that hindered me in using retinol
I started using tretinoin as a teen. It requires patience to see its effect on acne, but it's worth it!
What serum do you use if your skin gets dry from tret?
@@ayeishaj9281 I like the Ordinary amino acids + b5. A thin layer of cerave healing ointment over dry areas usually works (although it feels oily)
You look like better version of Lady Gaga , and the lipstick looks so nice on you 🎀
This lmao it's true 🤣
I always watch her videos and think: "wow, I love my dermatologist, she is competent and very clear in her explanations" ❤❤ The only problem is that I never stepped in her office. 🤣🤣
Could you do a video on how to get rid of broken capillaries and your thoughts on LED light therapy and in particular your thoughts on the LED “face masks”
Dr Dray had a video on it, the conclusion is more or less - only laser treatment at a derm's office can help that.
She talked about it a bit in the previous video. The giveaway video.
Yes!!! This!
I love how she just randomly pulls out items from her purse. She reminds me of that sweet auntie who recommends something and digs deep from her purse of never-ending items then shows you "oh this is what I use, darlin. Try it, iss good! You can keep it if you like!" :))))
That's sounds terribly sweet haha.
Please talk about sunblocks for sensitive or irritated skin because most mineral one leave a white cast or just oxizied when we put it.
And thank u for sharing this nice topics with us
@@MissSissiMe I used multiple mineral sunblocks and unfortunately all of them leave white cast or oxizied even La Rochae sunblock 😔😔😔
I have sensitive skin and I love this sunscreen from La Roche Posay, Anthelios Ultra Fluid Face Lotion SPF 50+ :)
Red raspberry seed oil.
I think the consensus now is that chemical sunscreens are linked to cancer so I'd rather use a zinc one and look like a ghost/put makeup over it than have a greater risk of cancer.
Thank you Dr. Shereene for such a wonderful and simple explanations of a major skincare routines and recommendations for the skincare products. It helps tremendously. I do have sensitive skin and made almost all mistakes you explained in your videos but I’m following your recommendations and my skin looks much better now 😄
I'm so glad this dropped now since I had just requested an easy beginner guide for noobs like me about tackling skin routine and skincare in general!!
It would be wonderful if you could continue this as series about some of the acids/ vitamins etc that you have videos on!!
But truly as always, I come 60% for Shereen's energy and humor and 40% about actually learning about all skin-related stuff. (get your priorities straight guys)

Been using 0.5% Tretinoin and I never had serious acne since. Highly recommend!
Please how do you it please??
My goodness, your lips look GORGEOUS! That color is perfect on you! 💄💋

Ooh, can you also do a video on which ingredients/products work best with retinol and which ones to avoid?
The red lipstick looks great! :)

Hello, dear Dr. Shereene Adriss. Thanks for your information ❤️
I'm 32 years old. I have a question: I recently bought retinol serum, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid for my skincare routine. However, I'm unsure about how to use them. Which one is more necessary to use, vitamin C or retinol?
How should they be used over the years?
I was thinking of starting retinol 😃 just before this was posted
Such a great breakdown, and I really appreciate the time stamps! Currently using a 0.2% Retinol and considered stepping it up, excellent timing 💕
Can i ask at what age u started using?? And so u have sensitive skin?

I would love to see a video about teenage skincare. What to use and what to avoid ( products and ingredients) .
There is no difference between adult and teens, unless you are speaking of acne.
Can you make a video about overhyped skincare products?

Hi not a professional, but I was prescribed Tazaortene when I was 17 for acne and hyperpigmentation. I have been using it for five years now with no problems, and from my research you can safely start retinol use in your teenage years

Good morning! Thank you being part of my Saturdays ❤️
Gurl, I’m 51 and have not used Retinols yet. Just ordered some and excited to get started slowly as I do have roseacea. Thank you for sharing this info!
Are you still using it and if so how has your skin tolerated it?
I have rosacea aswell and retin a is currently blowing up my face
Wish I’d been more educated when I first started using tret 10 years ago- I was “more is more” type til I saw how much it aged me! Scared the hell out of me, took years to have courage to start again.
It aged you? It can cause wrinkles, you mean? Ai!
Not a retinol beginner, just watching because I love you and watch all your videos! 💕
I have eczema and I tried adapalene for my acne/scars and it worked like a champ but it was painful! but I admit I went too hard😬 so I did my research and I am planning to give it another chance in a much gentler way. Thanks for the tips💜
my retinol is going to be delivered tomorrow, i appreciate all of the tips so much
The red lip and curls look great on you. Just gorgeous as always ♥ Great advice I use prescription strength retinol but I didn't know what areas to avoid etc. Thank you for educating us ♥
Can you please make a video about exfoliants? How to choose them, what works best, components, etc. You're amazing and, your advise has improved my skin health so much! Thank you for your incredible work ❣️❣️❣️
Please, make a video on skincare devices(red light, current tool, nuface, and more), is it worth saving money and buying them for a long term results, or is it not efficient enough and going to aesthetician who uses similar devices would be more effective (better tools) ?
I fell it should be ilegal to look this beautiful 😍 This is one of my favorite RUclips channels at the moment! I’m learning so much and my skin is thriving ❤️

I'm sorry, I know it's a shallow thing to say, but you are so much more pleasant to look at/watch (AND have a great sense of humour) than some other female derms here x Love your channel x
Agree
Not just shallow but very rude. This is not a compliment
i'm sure this was most likely meant as a compliment on dr. idriss teaching, but we don't need to demean/insult other women in order to elevate another.
So glad you’re not calling us little Nerds it was unnecessary we love you!
Literally I’m praying for you doc. Thanks so much everything is illuminated about retinol in my head 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
When I started retinoid, I would sandwich it. Essentially I'd use a very light moisturizer on a damp face, let it dry completely, then my prescription retinoid followed by a heavy moisturizer. Then I began to put it on directly and never had an issue. Highly recommend it if you're sensitive.
@femmefatale 1990 what is the right age to incorporate retinol in skincare routine for anti aging benefits ?
I use a new q tip each time to scoop out product...works like a charm... no contamination!
From what are should we start using it? I am 24 and not sure if I should start using it or wait. You are amazing and changing so many lives ❣️
