  • It seems like a beginners' hunting/bushcraft knife. This handle has less ergonomics in comparison to Companion, Heavy Duty,
    or Bushcraft.

Only Wako can talk about a knife handle for nearly ten minutes and hold captive audience. There's something about his thoroughness that makes everything he talks about so interesting.

nice video! It will make a good and safe knife for your daughter i'm sure. In the description of the knife they say the handle is larger than the original robust but it seems the back guard on the handle gives less space for our hands.

I like that Mora is putting handle guards on its knives. Keeps hands from slipping onto the blade when bearing down on it. Thanks for sharing!

Oh dear Doc, you seem to have been bitten by the Mora bug. They are a strange addiction.... affordable, honest knives which are so similar and yet subtly different. Easy to keep sharp, even for a novice. Thanks for posting and good to have you back.

Very easy to keep sharp!! but easy to lose sharp. I sharpen Moras the most often. Thanks.

Good review as usual, getting across concepts of grip and ergonomics that a lot of people tend to miss.

I bought a Robust over a year ago. It looks like one of us has a later or earlier or later version. My handle is more like the others you showed so, does not have those longer finger and pommels guards, and your blade "looks" a bit shorter, and possibly wider. I like it a lot. Always take it as a backup. Nice and light.

I have the older Robust without those guards that keep your hand in them. It feels so much more natural…yet I still love even the new ones. Mora is great. I hope the good Doctor will buy some BPS Knives from Ukraine and examine them. Even before the recent issues there, I was supporting them. I bought their HK5 & Adventurer. Amazing Scandi grind knives and strike fire like crazy.
Paid $30 & $40. Both came with leather sheathes and the $40 one has a compartment for a ferro rod and has a nice ferro rod with a wooden handle.
I’d love to see you test their blades, the ergonomics especially .

Excellent insightful review as always. Really makes sense why the new Mora Robust is a good bushcrafter for younger people like your daughter. Take a file and 90 degree the spine and she will have an excellent bushcrafter. Would be good for my daughter as well. The value of the knives is incredible.

Just picked-up a MORAKNIV Bushcraft Orange; great knife! Florescent orange Handle not too thin, kind of rubbery feel. 4.3 inch drop point blade, edge nice gentle slope to tip. The spine of the blade has been ground especially for use with fire starter. I may even prefer it to my three Bark River knives!

The Mora Robust seems to look a lot like the Hultifors Heavy Duty knife, and if it is Mora's version of that knife it was created neither for hunting nor bush craft. The Hultifors Heavy Duty was made specifically to be used as an all-purpose work knife for people working in the construction / building trade. Of course it can be used for bush craft and hunting, but it wasn't the manufacturer's intended purpose. I think this may explain the handle.

I'm a small man, with small hands. I like the Pro Robust a lot. It's on my list (I ordered the Mora 711 a few days ago, so it can wait).
    Nice comparion. Thanks.

Absolutely agree - Mora Companion has best ergonomics in comparison with Bushcraft Black also, but Bushcraft Black following next in comfortability as for me.
    Thank you.

Hi. I enjoy your videos. You are very informative. I can see that you have quite alot of experience with knives. Your knowledge is vast. If I may, when you say ''holdings'' when you were handling the different knives, you can say ''grips''. I'll continue to tune in. Keep up the great videos!

Thank you for your wise words sir. I was about to buy this Mora, but i did not pay attention to the short handle and the shorter blade. This new Robust is not useful for me.
Best regards from France, you have many subscribers here.
    Take care,

The Mora Robust Craftline is intended for use in the "crafts" as a work knife. The spine on this knife isn't meant for striking a ferro rod. It's not intended for bushcraft or hunting.
I beat the heck out of my Robust while doing projects around the house and it's indestructible. I pry with it, chisel with it, hammer on it. Then it's very easy to put a razor sharp edge back on it. For $15 what else can you ask for? I have much more expensive knives that can't do the work this Robust does and I wouldn't think of using them in the same way.
In the knife world, the Mora's have to be one of the best if not the best value. Mora fan for life.

I like Morakniv, I like 1 or 2 Marttini knives, and 1 hultafors as backup knives only. They will never be my primary knives. That is reserved to my Jeff White Bush HD and my Ontario Rat7. Those 2 are my main weapon/knives

Enjoyed the review. As I have large hands, the Robust will not be on my "buy" list.
Show us how you loop the para cord to make the hilt retainer. Very nice touch.

Mora made Robust to be an allround work knife. It will work fine for bushcraft but Mora did not put it in that category.

No sir, that knife is for trade, as in industry, not for bushcraft or hunting although it can be used for it. However, it is for TRADE, as described by MORA.

The conclusion you arrive at is counterintuitive, without seeing this review I would have assumed that the Robust would be the model best suited to larger hands.

My 2 most often carried knives are my Jeff White Bush HD and my Marttiini Condor 13 cm in stainless steel. Then I have a multi-tool. Most of the time the super tool 300..

    Hi Wako. 2 questions:
Have you tried the Bushcraft Black from Mora?
Have you ever thought of a custom knife for hunting? One make after your specifications: blade steel and handle.

I didn't like Bushcraft Black. For batoning it had advantage for length and thickness. But its handle felt ergonomically better for light jobs like fishing or food prep to me. So I keep only Bushcraft Force and Triflex, thinner versions in SS and carbon.
I am pretty much satisfied with knives which I already own. Thanks.

Virtuovice, do you practice sharpening your knife/s in the field? If you do, can you show how you do it. Can you make video about it. You said that practice bushcrafting for earthquake situations, so I imagine that sharpening you knife some where outside is also important skill. I imagine that in emergency situation you might have to leave your home and you can't carry all that sharpening stones. Thank you.

You should x ray the handle. The tang is so tiny, it's embarrassing. It may or may not be intended for hard use. Either way, the tang doesn't look like it makes it even half way into the handle. I'd never own one.
