I finally understand what Wako is talking bout now after many years of watching him. They’re all good knives but when someone hunts as much as he does they’re all just “one deer knives” his advanced knives are the ones he considers “3 deer knives” and more… I remember when he called his black gunny elmax a “7 deer knife” because he was able to process 7 deers with it before needing to sharpen it. This guy is pretty amazing how even through a language barrier he’s able to stubbornly convey his knowledge and experience to us. Thanks Wako!
Your knife collection is amongst the best on RUclips.
Thank you for sharing. We appreciate your collection of beautiful knives and all of the knowledge that you share
Next wako-san on RUclips awards giving a demo on how to carve a deer. This channel really deserve some prize. if not for best host so for the best community.
*The* knife-guru of RUclips, from a country with centuries long knife/sword-making tradition no less, has a custom knife from my country. Greetings from Serbia, sir, and keep up the good work.
You have one of the best knife collections I have ever seen but I am very surprised you do not have any Spyderco knives.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection.
Your english is excellent sir. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you for another fun and interesting video! I enjoy seeing all the different knives and opinions on them.
A real hard working collection for the most part. Thank you for sharing
Virtuovice, F.Y.I. that Serbian up-swept belly knife, is a similar style to my Rod Garcia, "Skookum",reverend by Mors Kochanski, and one of my favorites, but I love your videos, your expertise, and your knives, keep up the great work.
Knives ship free had one in the same salmon maple burl as my mini fox river 3V so I ordered it. We will see how I like it. I look forward to your review. Keep up the good work I truly appreciate it!
you have a very impressive collection and i enjoyed seeing them...thank you very much for the vids
Say Heah Professor, My go to knives are my Field/Camp/Hunting Knives are my Rodent 3, Rodent Solution, Rodent 4, Ratmandu which I have (2) SR101, and INFI, Rodent 6 (modified thinned blade and top gaurd removed), Rodent 7, Rodent 9 and the Rodent Rucki as my Summer Long Knife very vesital, great weapon, chopper, and I can baton with it, the choil helps using it as a knife in a pinch. Although I have similar sets by Busse Combat, Bark River, Ka-Bar Beckers, O.K.C. and some others like Fix Hitam Golok, Custom 3V Cryo, yup Cryo, Johnson Adventure, John Bradley, Rod Garcia etc. etc. ect. I'm getting tge Tree Frog by Battle Horse check this folder out, it's almost a fix blade, I just got a 440C Bokor Tree Brand 2 blade Hunting Knife, a Puma Warden bone with Saw, a Test Case large trapper a big one same type of style blades, a very unique Case serrated blade large Mako very sharp and lockback, and a few Large Canoes, and Trappers and Stockman in CV and S.S. then I have a Cold Steel beauty the Black Rhino nice hunting knife nice lock-up system.and a bunch of other Slipjoints and some rare folders like my Puma Emporer, a couple of vintage Al-Mar's the Eagle and Falcon a beautiful set, (2 S.O.G. Pentagon's the large and smaller ine, a very rare S.O.G TomCat in 440C a Rajah 1, a medium Vaquero serrated but a very sharp it's full serrated VG-1. I even have some good hollow handle survival knives a professional Russian NV1-01, 6" blade, a Bokor Aparro, a Buck Buckmaster #184, and a Randall Made #18 Oh Yeah a vintage Tomahawk Brand Survival Knife that was used for Hog Hunting, mine is made in tge U.S.A. anyhow different strokes for different folks.
Wow that Japanese Damascus blade knife is gorgeous. Nice video as usual.
Would love an update, Wako. I realize it's tedious, but would love to see how your collection changed.
We still have some traditional style knife makers here, Toyokuni, Kanetsune or so on. Their fixed blade constriction is basically saber convex grind with a short tang fixed with a ring and a pin to the handle. Thanks.
Bark River Gunny Hunter in 3V. It comes with a slight micro bevel from the factory in many cases. After removing it with water stones it comes out super sharp and tough in a right angle. Thanks.
Great collection!
when I saw your videos I knew I not mad ..
I showed my wife and told her why I have so much camera gear ..
excellent knife collection.
experience surely ??
love your videos, and how you just throw the sheaths on the floor as you go through : ) Enzos are the way to go, I just finished my first Enzo trapper, D2 scandi with micarta scales.
Awesome collection!
Very very nice... Collection of knives. You sir are a conneseuir
there's at least 3000$ on that table, but it's great collection
@Dariel Alexzander if u don't trust your girl leave her
Great collection
Yes. I think L6 from Svord will do all the way through one deer. It is easy to sharpen although it is very easy to rust. Anyway I need to confirm next season if it does all the way actually. Thanks.
Beautiful collection, I am speechless... All of them are beautiful, absolutely perfect. I am buying my first bark river knife 3v this month for my birthday thanks to your videos. Your collection is just beyond words. If you ever want to throw away any of those knives (lol) you could always send me them. :D haha just kidding.
Nice collection 👍😃
Wow, nice collection! I like your canal.
these are beautiful knives amigo
Amazing collection.
I don't like the bolster of Fox River as well. It looks cold in winter. I am going to have 3V Gunny Hunter not so ahead. Its wider flat portion under the spine suggests me of its larger edge angle. Bark River often give us worries. Thanks.
Cool collection.
I found its handle thick and gave it to my friend. Its 12C27 was much better than their laminated SS of Futura. Anyway currently I have a single Helle, the carbon Temagami in a modified handle. Thanks.
jó sok pénzt beleőltél ebbe komám! De szép gyűjtemény! 👍
Belíssima coleção, parabéns pelo cuidado com que você estima suas lâminas!
Awesome!
Beautiful , knifes
You are very lucky to have so many knives. They are absolutely beautiful! I just have to say your knife sharpening skills are magnificent. Thank you for sharing your beautiful knives. I wish I had your sharpening ability, where did you learn such a great skill? I love knives and the beauty that each individual knife holds. Thanks again Sir.
Jeffrey hall One of my hunting friends whose job is barber let me know how he sharpens his knives. And I just follow him. Thanks.
+virtuovice Do you want to sell some of them?
Yes. I got rid of it after finding it a halfway knife. I gave up chopping after I wounded my shoulder due to chopping itself. Instead I started cutting wood with a folding saw and baton it with a 6 inch blade like Bravo1.5. Thanks.
Question. Thank you for showing 40 beautiful knives all with exceptional blades. It may serprise
Amazing.
Nice collection
Amazing...
I didn't know Benchmade started taking customization for users. I visited the site and figured out the regular 551 configulation is still my preference. I like 154CM the best. N680 doesn't hold well. D2 and S30V is too hard and can chip in a small angle. I need drop point. Thanks.
It was a heavy knife in G10 scales, and I gave it to my friend who loves orange G10. Thanks.
Zero grind Scandi bevel seems the nicest for feathersticking. The original Temagami Handle is hand filling for bushcrafting. Temagami's carbon steel is decent. Helle's edge making is as stable as Mora and very keen out of the box. Mora Bushcraft is as nice.
Zero grind convex geometry seems nicest for wood splitting. All Fallkniven knives have a flat micro bevel and don't take stropping unless you get rid of it. I think Bark River Bravo series knives are the best suited for the job. Thanks.
Hey Wako, Did you get rid of your becker bk 2? And there are some more knives missing you showed us earlyer years.
Your collection is great, every knive you own is beautifull, usefull and durable.
Thanks for sharing with us!
@Virtuovice, Hello I was hoping to find out when or if you are going to review the new Gunny hunter 3v? I want to buy one before all the good wood handle ones are gone but don't know if I should. I really want a Fox River 3V (got a mini salmon burl for my birthday) but I hate the bolster on the full size and I can't find a burl handle for sale on a not bolster handle. Please if you could advise me on if I should wait for a Fox River or buy the Gunny instead.
Thanks very much
Do you think one is better suited for bushcraft over the other?
whic are your best hunting knives
Cool knifes
I am a big fan of your knife videos and I have used your technique to great personal success with many of my own knives. I did have one question, however - you gave up the ESEE 4 for the RC 3, but retained the Becker BK 16. I have both the ESEE 4 and the BK 16 and the dimensions for both knives are almost identical with the exception of blade height and handle ergonomics and the choil on the ESEE 4. What differences did you note?
hi, i like your videos; very good! did you ever tried a linder super edge with ats34 steel?
thanks for your quick response Wako-san, Now I can buy more certain from my decision
Yes. My current Kellam is Wolverine.
I would enjoy a comparison of your Japanese knives with those from the US. It seems you prefer the US knives, lately I have really liked knives I bought from Japan. The blue carbon steel knives are great value.
It may surprise some viewers that among these 40 knives, (I will guess) the Benchmade Griptilian is your favorite folding knife (?). Since the Griptilian maybe custom ordered now with various metals and points- what would be your favorite configuration of this populate knife? Any changes to this favorite?
Impressive,my friend.
154CM is a very good stainless steel in my opinion. It is very tough and not chippy at all. VG10 is a bit softer than 154CM. They are middle class stainless steels. S30V is super durable but a bit chippy in my experience. S35VN is an innovated S30V and less chippy. Sandvik stainless steels are generally nice. Buck 420HC and SOG AUS8 are nice in cheaper side stainless steels. I think carbon steels are tougher and more durable for hard use than stainless steels in general. Thanks.
I apply a small amount of Camellia knife care oil to all of my carbon blades.
hi i really enjoyed seeing your great knife collection even though i lost the audio?
i am a bit puzzled why you have so many with virtually the same blade size and shape? it must be difficult to decide which one your going to use?
I feel 3V (BR) is harder and more durable than 3G (Fallkniven). 3V (BR) is semi stainless, but it will rust if kept in a wet sheath over night. Thanks.
How good is the steel on the Svord knife? Would it make it all the way through one deer?
Virtuovice - I have been watching your videos for the past two weeks and I must say you are inspiring. I love the research you have done on customizing your knives. Have you tried the Falkniven PHK or Jarl? I purchase a BR Bushcrafter last week based on your recommendation and wow I am impressed and will customize it like you have. I ordered the PHK and Jarl and TK2 from knivesshipfree but they are not yet arrived. I will use them in Wyoming for 4 - Antelope , maybe I see video in my future
That is a very small collection. You really need more knives. ;)
nice vid.
Cool, and impressive. Do you like folding knives for your hunting, or do you prefer them for edc? Love the BK16 as well, great blade. Thanks for sharing.
You should do sharpening services or something like that
Wako-san: do you know what type of knife in japan was traditionally used for hunting tasks (before all of these modern machine mass produced folders/fixed blades)? I could not see it being very easy with a kiridashi (which really is the only traditional small japanese knife design i am familiar with).
I personally don't like a large angle. So I made an appropriate angle like 30 degrees to my Bushcrafter. I need the Bushcrafter because of its comfortable handle, its blade shape, and its 3V durability. I have no experience with PHK and Jari because they seem like having a large angle estimated from its bevel height and blade thickness. I like 3.5mm thick for my hunting purpose. Thanks.
Wako-san, in your opinion, which of this two steel , 3G (Fallkniven) or 3V (BR), is better?
Such magnifisent knifs
We are forbidden to edc a knife by law. I was once relieved with a folder in my pocket. I killed a deer on the way back home. When I got to the deer I found I left my hunting belt and knives in my truck. But I found a folder in my pocket and did the job with it. We are allowed to carry a knife when we are still in the hunting field. But we need to check our body not to carry a knife before we drop by a convenience store on the way back home. Thanks.
What is your all time favorite hunting knife?
Hello everyone,
I recently received a sgian dubh for a birthday gift and it came non sharp. Just wanting to know hoe to go about this? Tools needed or should have it done by a professional? Thanks
Good video, companion
I think you must test a Muela Rhino
Where is you spyderco bill Moran drop point? I saw you did a X-ray on it.
I am not very sure but I remember ESEE4 was much thicker and heavier than RC3. I replaced its original short scales to the TKC semi custom long scales and it could be the reason for its heaviness. And I didn't like its blade height as you mention. And I didn't like the large angle of its primary bevel which was tougher to put a small angle secondary edge on than RC3. And I felt ESEE4 was long and used to choke up onto its ungenerous choil. The blade-handle ratio of ESEE4 is wrong IMO. Thanks.
Wow.
素晴らしいナイフショーでした!
Hi, very nice collection, lot of good knives of very good quality !
I have some knives of your collection, Temagami, Enzo camper, Brusletto...but, you have not never tested the benchmade 162 bushcrafter ? i have this knife in S30V steel, it's a really good knife..
Thanks for your excellent video.
Spyderco looks to have little belly for skinning. Thanks.
Very nice collection! I like how you don't accept the knife for what it is, I mean you change the geometry or handle diameter if you think it is best. Great looking knives.
Wako, please create an original design based on your hunting experiance and submit it to Bark River so it can be produced for everyone. Thanks.
Where is the Adventure Sworn??
In your experience, is buck 420 high carbon a one deer knife? Or do you have to resharpen or switch knives before you can finish dressing the deer?
Buck 420HC is a decent steel. Its edge holding seems almost the same as VG10 or 12C27. It does a single deer to the end perfectly when it has a proper angled convex secondary edge. Thanks.
i like this knife show XD
very much!
Hmmm, where can u purchase ur knife storage clothes :-\ Looks very handy:-) Nice knife collection B-) Can't wait till u have another cooking videos :-! Miss THE WONDERFUL FOOD :-P
THANKS FOR SHARING :-) CIAO'
It felt too light and I gave it to my friend who is not a hunter.
what's the name of the 31st knife thanks
A discontinued Grohmann's blade.
you have all knife liketo have
No, I didn't.
Great collection! Pay no mind to all those racist losers! Their parents are brother and sister!
Hello there
Love your video's and your taste in knives. Im also a deer hunter in canada. Im wondering if you ever sell any of your knives? I have a new youtube channel called the guerrilla, please message me if you are interested in selling any pieces in your collection, i will use it in a review and of course plug your channel.
The Guerrilla
What a waist of money, I've been hunting and fishing for more than sixty years and I carry a pocket knife and a fixed blade. Said this before the best knife is the one you have when you need it.
Joe Choquette well said!!
His choice, your opinion. Well said, especially the last sentence. Good reply.
この人の動画好きなんですけどシースを投げ捨てて、なんか見苦しくてお行儀が悪く見えますね。もう少しやり様があると思いますけど・・・
for all your dog skinning purposes.
Not cool.
