@@tuat555 I am at the leg part but interpolation seems to be wonky with the leg. Unsure why it doesnt go from frame 9 to 17. It just disappears. :/ I have lots of blender experience but not much in 2d.
Ummm I'm currently making a dedicated tutorial "on How using the interpolation in any cases" because as you might know this tool is kinda tricky to understand and you're not alone who deals with that issue. So I will try to help you out by words 🙂👍. If you're at the leg part it's fine because you've already used the interpolate tool on the section before. For the legs I recommend you to start by making one foot on a isolated layer (for safety, so if a problem happens it would be on that layer). On the video I start drawing the first foot with one line (it's an important detail to know the numbers of lines you use for something you want to interpolate...I drew that foot with a single line for making simple). And if you paid attention for the next legs I made I only duplicate the same foot and edit it for making the other position. (This is a crucial step for a successful interpolation) The interpolation work better with 2 similar drawings keyframes . Note after drawing my first foot pose, I duplicated that same drawing for making my next foot pose (so I just edited that drawing to match the motion) I can guarantee you in that way it will works fine. That's why I do recommend to always use the duplicate drawing method if you're about to interpolate. But don't worry on working on that video for making all that clear 😁👌. Hope that help buddy 🌟
You're welcome it's my pleasure to share 🙏😊 and make it accessible to everyone with the desire to learn animation through Blender Grease Pencil✌️. Good luck in your animation journey 🌟
List of Grease Pencil Questions 1. Why is the fill not working? 2. How to connect points in a vector? 3. How to make an acute angle in a vector? 4. How to make a smoothing brush?
Alright thank you for asking me your questions. I really want to reply with some examples for a better understanding because questions like these are very common. I writing down your comment and I ll be back to you later with answers 😉👍
Hey 👋😃 sorry for the wait, so! Here my answer to your questions 😊 1. The fill works under conditions - use the fill tool - select the proper material which the fill property - fill tool works inside strokes surface (basically where the lines are closed) 2. To connect point you have to be in edit mode and choose the select mode "only points". Then select the 2 points you want to connect, go to the point menu and merge it 3. The easy way to make acute angle is to hold ALT while trace line. It allows you draw perfect strait line horizontal and vertical. 4. To smooth the line you can hold SHIFT to stabilize your strokes make you lines more smooth while drawing it. HOPE THOSE ANSWERS WILL HELP 😉👍
Awww really?!?! I'm so happy to hear it 😃. I was worry about of the success of the tutorial because of the length and the subtitles only. Your feedback just relieved me 🙏😊 Thank you!
Thank you so much 🙏😊. I was my first video with no voice over with subtitles only and music. I did not expected so much appreciation 🙂. So I'm so glad to hear it. Cheers 🌟

That's awesome to receive such a positive feedback 🙂👍Thank you 🤝. Indeed my idea was to provide lots of "grease pencil" tips from a simple project✌️😉. It feels good to hear this video is beneficial to others😊
Hi Josiah 👋🙂! To help you out with that issue I will recommend this. For exemple look at 4:21, I'm in edit mode then using the lasso selection ✅️ put the video in pause around 4:25 ⏸ and look carefully at the top left of the viewport. You should see the Edit Mode in scroll panel and at the right side you should see 3 little square which is the selection mode. Pick the middle one. And when you are in the sculpt mode pick the same icon as well 👍. So in that way before sculpting, go to Edit mode first to select the lines you wanna sculpt then after this go to Sculpt mode to edit them. You should only sculpt those selected lines and not the overall. I hope it will help u 🙏😊, cheers!
Hey 👋🙂!!! I do know about this problem cuz sometimes Blender also crashed during my work as well. However if your problem always happened when you're using the multifill it's probably because the lack of the gpu usage. Multifill seems using a lot of resources on these type of action. So instead of selecting the entire keyframes like I did in my video, just select a few only and try 🙂👍. I know Blender use to crash on big process like this sometimes. Let me know if it's works for you 😁
Yeah this feature is really awesome and I'm keep learning a lot since then😊🌟. Haha, after spending time on the software you kinda want to master everything 😁👍
No problem 😊 I'm glad you found this software useful and convenient for making 2D animation. I came from Adobe Flash and I've been using it for years...until 2020 when I decided to change to Blender...a big change for the better ✌️😉. Have fun with it, it awesome!!!✨️
Awww that would be so sweet😭🌟 I really appreciate your support❤️. I think the 5$ thing is the RUclips subscription but I dont know how it works😅 (I have to check it when I'll have time😊). On the side I do have a paypal link on my channel, on the ABOUT section if you want to directly support me🤝😃. Again you don't need to😉 but if you do THANK YOU SO MUCH🙏!!!
Loving the tutorial, and I have a question if you could help me. When I go to add the brown color, the white color on the belly, the colors don't fit, I just fill it with the blue color that I used on the body, I'm not able to solve the problem.
Hi 👋 thank you so much for your nice comment. Sorry for the delay answer 🙇♂️. So, for your question I would like, if you don't mind to give me more details. I believe it's an issue with the fill tool (the bucket icon). Also please to give me the time on the tutorial where you encounter the problem, so depending on what I explained I could provide you more info to help you out 😊👍. Thank you again.
I believe there is plenty of basic here. I wanted to made a tutorial as complete as possible. Some tiny details might be missing but in overall you should get th basics. I'll be around if needed and also continue to post very basic contents for new ones 😊👍cheers friend 🌟
Alright can you give more details on that issue. So you're in edit mode, right? So you pick the selection tool (click and hold on the icon to select the lasso). Now on the viewport you select both ear. Remember to use the bend tool correctly like I do, you have to activate the 3D cursor and also change the pivot point to 3D cursor 👨🏫. After selecting the ears set the 3D cursor (point your mouse on the location then SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK). Now with the bend tool just LEFT CLICK & HOLD to control the bend. I know my explanation might be sketchy without concrete images. So let me know about it. Hope that's help 😊
No problem 😊 I wished this would work for you but you I'm glad to hear that you managed to find another way to proceed😉👍. Even if I didn't not show in the video there's others tools that could do the same job😁. As long as the results is here, that's all matters✌️🌟.
Hi there ,I'm at the color fill section @21:19 when I go to double click to fill color Blender keeps crashing, I'm using Blender version 4.2 , I tried using an older version 4.0 and appending the objects from yje other project but still crashes when I go to fill color..
Hey! Oh okay that's odd... I need to figure out the issue... because I remember experimenting thing like that before... have you try to do a new 2D project trace few circles and fill them? to see if Blender crashes?... A thing that come to my mind is to try at 21:00 to set the precision back on 1 to see how Blender react. Maybe setting on a higher value like I did on 5 could be the reason. If it solve your issue try to increase gradually to find the right spot between 1 and 5. Another thing that I heard is Blender can crash because the GPU need to be update... Blender do use lot of GPU so this might be the cause. Let me know these solutions works for you, cheers!
@@tuat555 Hey, thanks for getting back to me, apologies for slow response back, Yes reducing the precision as you suggested worked, I was only able to get it up to 2 for it to remain stable, whenever I tried a higher number it would crash, anyway all good I was able to finish the tutorial, so thank you! It was a fun Tutorial Cheers!
Of course I can help you 🙂👍. I might need more precision on which stage of the tutorial I does create the issue and if you did something differently.🤔 I'm trying to figure out what is the cause of your problem.😊
Hello 😃! Unfortunately for this one I only have a subtitles version 😕 "I'm so sorry🙏". The only video I made I that way and many asked me that it would be great with voice over😭. But! Have you watched my recent video from 2 days ago with the Howl's Moving Castle project. It's basically the same type of tutorial with voice over 😊 ruclips.net/video/4oRWsUpeow0/видео.html I hope it will help you. Let's me know, if it's not I can recommend you other content I made 🌟👍
@@tuat555 I'll check it out, thanks, its just a preference you know, I'm trying to get myself into learn blender, son not knowing the interface and having to keep track of the mouse and the text makes it harder I guess
Thank you so much for your sweet comment I really appreciate 🙏❤. I was a bit worry because some prefer voice over tutorial than subtitles, so thank you so much for letting me know 😊. I'll do my best to redo video like this ✨️
No problem mate that's a great pleasure 😁👍💯. I know, my bad for choosing making this tutorial subtitles only😅 I feel your pain😄 probably not easy to follow and read at the same time🙏. But I'm really happy that you successfully did it🙌🥳. Thank you!!!

Otherwise, I'm gonna try to paste you the link just right below 😉 www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/264325 this is the video where I screen captured the Totoro image 😁👍.
First, thanks tuat555. This tutorial is informative and engaging. It only took me a few minutes watching for me to hit the subscribe button because you actually took the time to explain what's going on either with captions or by emphatically demonstrating it with your mouse movements captured in real time. I binge-watch way too many tutorials and can tell you from experience not everyone has the temperament and patience to explain things in a manner designed to allow a beginner to learn. Thanks for that. I will be heading to your gumroad to see what else is there to support this channel tangibly. I do have a question. At around 10:07 - 10:08 the auto-interpolated frames go missing and are replaced with an orange bar between the 2nd and 3rd keyframes. Should I undo the steps that created the interpolated frames at this point? I am not sure exactly what happened. Thanks in advance for your response if you should happen to see this and decide to respond even though the video was made several months ago. Cheers.
Oh hey 👋😊 thank you so so much for the kind words for this video. I really appreciate your personal feedback and yeah😅 it wasn't a easy video to make, so I kinda decide to do only in subtitles to skip the recording voice over because I was very overwhelmed😮💨. But I do apologize to some viewers because read subtitles and follow the video may impact the experience of learning. My I'm really sorry for that 🙏. For sure, next time I will do voice over 😉. So for your question, DO NOT WORRY👌. The autokeying frames disappear at this time because I demonstrated earlier "how to make in-between". Then I delete them to make more changes then re-apply the auto keying 😊. I recommend you to do the same to delete the in-between frames then keep following my instructions 😉👍. Sorry again if it was clear on this video, I hope my answer will help you 😁. Thank you so much for your great support! 🌟
Wow! Thanks you for your explanation! I did not know if I would get a response and was honestly just very glad to find your channel because I was able to follow along and the results look fantastic. I love the clean line-art I could get with ease compared to Clip Studio and again, the explanation of how to follow along really suits the way I learn. Some days I am smart. Some days I am not. There were arrows to show me exactly what’s going on - let’s face it, after working all day at my job I may be working with limited intellectual battery-charge at the end of the day so the explanations you provide are so very appreciated. Anyway. thank you again for responding and I will follow along as advised. The hard work you put in to tutorials like this is such a good thing - it benefits the world in ways that only the wind can know. Kudos to great teachers!
I have a question about that part on 4:20. After creating a circle, I need to exit creating it. How can I do it? My blender just freezes, while I have these dots around my circle
Okay so you create the circle. (At this time your are in draw mode) I usually press TAB to switch (or exit) to either EDIT MODE or SCULP MODE. The dots appears when your circle is selected in vertex selection. Ummm let me know if pressing TAB does solve the problem👍...cuz I'm kinda curious about the freeze issue you have 🤔
I think 🤔 this happened when creating the circle. There 2 steps to follow. First click, you create the circle (drag the mouse to get the desired size). Second after release the click you have to valid the drawing by either middle mouse click, hit enter or hit space... and then you will get the circle 👍. I do believe that's the issue you encountered 😉
@@tuat555 Thank you :) I also want to ask you how do you change your timeline like in 10:07-10:08? It looks like a lot of keyframes were somehow hidden😅
I don't have a clue😅 both are really good tbh👍🌟 even if I'm fully dedicated to Blender Grease Pencil I remember years ago 😃 Toonboom was THE no.1 software for animation (I did try a very old version of Toonboom😃 then I switch to Flash then Animate CC until Blender😉). So today Toonboom has some good challenger to compete with 😁
You're are welcome 🙏😊 I really appreciate it, thank you. I do hear about some artist who succeed to import grease pencil element inside Unity...but unfortunately, I have no clue on how does the transition works 🤔. Hope you'll find the solution 🌟.
like some other people, i had trouble manually interpolating the feet claws on the same layer as the leg layer. maybe because the legs were already interpolated. i fixed this by putting the claws on their own layer. also, i had trouble manually interpolating the feet claws in edit mode. i could only do it in draw mode. technically, from other tutorials you should be able to select something in edit mode, turn on interpolation for 'only selected' and manually interpolate that selection (in spite of the fact that other elements on that layer may have already been interpolated). but i just could not get this to work, even on a different practice file. not sure if it is a bug. was using blender 3.5
That's a relevant point you mentioned🤔. I'm not gonna lie I also had that inconsistency using the interpolation tool. It's like a 50 / 50, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And this is why I prioritize making layers for each body parts, so in case of an issue I know where to locate the problem. I kinda master the trick but to explain to the audience it's sketchy. What I understand so far is when you done a interpolation and want to modify again (like adding few lines on the character design), you have to delete all the breakdown keyframes first 🔹and keep the two main keyframes 🔶️. Then add the modifications with the same new lines on each two keyframes 🔶️. Finally reinterpolate and it should work. I don't know if it's a bug but I believe it's mostly a strict workflow to follow. (I know more about it since the last 3-4 years working with greasepencil) What I suggest it always to make a new layer for a new interpolation then combine at the end. To me you did also nail the trick 😁👍. But still it's a hard tool to master. I believe I will have to dedicate a special tutorial for showing how to master it for any situation. 😊🌟
@@tuat555 thank you! at least i know i wasn't going crazy now. i did finish the tutorial last night and it came out perfectly. the only other issue i ran into was deleting fill colors if needed. i managed using the eraser and knife but it was hit and miss and i had to keep trying until it worked. that was probably just me not knowing how to use the tools though. great tutorial 🙂
I just found this great tutorial and I had the same issue. For those who still struggle, fortunately I'm using blender 3.6, and since 3.5 there has been a lot of updates for grease pencil. This is how I solved this problem, it's amazingly simple. 1) Just like the tutorial says, you draw the claw on frame 1, paste in edit mode, on frame 9 and move it next to the rest of the foot. Now, you have to make sure both frames, and ONLY 1 and 9 are keyframes, not breakdown frames. If for some reason frame 9 is blue, it's a breakdown frame, select it, right click, select frame type, and choose Keyframe. 2) Make sure the claw is still selected in keyframe 1, and change to breakdown frame 3. Some of this is new because it was just added in blender 3.5. Select the interpolation tool, and check "Only Selected" and "Exclude Breakdowns". Why? Because interpolation now can use Breakdowns to interpolate. So since we have the claw in keyframe 1, and in keyframe 9, it will ignore the other empty breakdown frames in between. All you have to do is drag, and the selected stroke will show. You don't even have to paste. Repeat for the rest of the breakdown frames.
You got it right 😊👍. Thank you for this amazing summary 🤝. Interpolation is very tricky for new one and I'm glad this feature always get some improvements and this is something that I also learned 😊. So much appreciate the additional support you made here 🙏❤.

Thank you so much for the kind word🌟💯. I know it's a pretty long video with subtitles only so I'm sorry in advanced if it's not very convenient for follow😅. Cheers for the support! I really do appreciate the kind words 🙏😊
Excited to try this out! Will update after!
I hope so 🙏🌟. Take your time and I'm sure you will have fun! 😁👌
BEST TUTORIAL EVER sorry for the caps lock
😂 bahaha cheers buddy 🥂 🙏😊🌟. Very awesome to READ IT AS CLEAARRR!!! 🔍👁🤣👌💯
This was a very detailed and well presented tutorial.
Thank you so much 🙏. It was my first longest tutorial and I really appreciate to hear such encouraging feedback 🌟.
very easy to get your teaching. PERFECT
Thank you so much, sweet to hear it 🙏😊🌟
Thank you for sharing this tutorial and the file, i will look it with the aim of learning animarion
You're welcome it's my pleasure to share 🙏😊 and make it accessible to everyone with the desire to learn animation through Blender Grease Pencil✌️. Good luck in your animation journey 🌟
List of Grease Pencil Questions
Here my answer to your questions 😊
1. The fill works under conditions
- use the fill tool
- select the proper material which the fill property
- fill tool works inside strokes surface (basically where the lines are closed)
2. To connect point you have to be in edit mode and choose the select mode "only points". Then select the 2 points you want to connect, go to the point menu and merge it
That looks amazing! Well done!
Thank you so much!!! 🙏🌟
thank you, I've never done anything like this and it worked out right away!
Awww really?!?! I'm so happy to hear it 😃. I was worry about of the success of the tutorial because of the length and the subtitles only. Your feedback just relieved me 🙏😊 Thank you!
Love the music then the tutorial. Thanks!
Thank you so much 🙏😊. I was my first video with no voice over with subtitles only and music. I did not expected so much appreciation 🙂. So I'm so glad to hear it. Cheers 🌟
amazing example and walkthrough, definitely bookmarked. A lot of nice tools and shortcuts were presented in an orderly flow
That's the best comment I've read 👌. Thank you so much for your feedback on it, I wasn't sure if viewers will like this type of content but I'm glad you find useful 🙏😊
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! I picked up 5 tips in the first 10 minutes. Really dig your art as well.
That's awesome to receive such a positive feedback 🙂👍Thank you 🤝. Indeed my idea was to provide lots of "grease pencil" tips from a simple project✌️😉. It feels good to hear this video is beneficial to others😊
Just pure magic.... thank you!
Cheers ❤️🙏🌟 thank you so so much!
Beautiful work
Impressive skill, thanks for passing it on.
This is great. Could you tell me how you were able to sculpt only one shape without effecting other nearby lines?
@@tuat555 Thanks alot!
Hi, do you know why blender crashes when doing the step at 22:09 ? The fill tool works fine, until i try to fill while multiple keyframes are selected
Let me know if it's works for you 😁
Great 👍❤🔥 Thank you for Tutorial

Yeah this feature is really awesome and I'm keep learning a lot since then😊🌟. Haha, after spending time on the software you kinda want to master everything 😁👍
I switched to blender for 2d animation from krita a year ago after watching this, thanks!
No problem 😊 I'm glad you found this software useful and convenient for making 2D animation. I came from Adobe Flash and I've been using it for years...until 2020 when I decided to change to Blender...a big change for the better ✌️😉. Have fun with it, it awesome!!!✨️

I loved your tutorial though it's taking time for me to learn but found very clear to learn.
Bro knows his tutorials
Maravilloso tutorial 😍
Thank you so much 🙏😊❤️🌟
I hope this is it . I'm seriously looking for a simple tutorial to start me off on 2d animations. Blender is the hill I choose ...
I believe there is plenty of basic here. I wanted to made a tutorial as complete as possible. Some tiny details might be missing but in overall you should get th basics. I'll be around if needed and also continue to post very basic contents for new ones 😊👍cheers friend 🌟
10:40 after making up & down motion, I can't animate ears 😭 in edit mode when i select and try to bend it automatically going to lasso tool 😢
@@tuat555 I've followed everything properly but bend tool isn't working I made jagged animation with rotate tool, thanks for your awesome support 😄
No problem 😊 I wished this would work for you but you I'm glad to hear that you managed to find another way to proceed😉👍. Even if I didn't not show in the video there's others tools that could do the same job😁. As long as the results is here, that's all matters✌️🌟.
Thank you!! so awesome!!!
You're very welcome 🙏😊, thank you!!!🌟
Very nice tutorial... Thanks
You're welcome! Hope that episode will help you a lot! 🙏🌟
@@tuat555 Hey, thanks for getting back to me, apologies for slow response back,
Yes reducing the precision as you suggested worked, I was only able to get it up to 2 for it to remain stable, whenever I tried a higher number it would crash, anyway all good I was able to finish the tutorial, so thank you!
It was a fun Tutorial
Cheers!
@Samusai15 no worries I'm glad that I was able to help you out with this 😁👍. And congrats for completing this tutorial!!! 👏🎉💯

When I render it, the lines change color and Some layers desappear. Can you help me?
Of course I can help you 🙂👍. I might need more precision on which stage of the tutorial I does create the issue and if you did something differently.🤔 I'm trying to figure out what is the cause of your problem.😊
if u cut any lines by mistake just press ctrl z to undo it and try again

Do you have a version with voice over? maybe a shorter one? To see the key tools and techniques, and if I have doubts I could watch this longer one?
Hello 😃! Unfortunately for this one I only have a subtitles version 😕 "I'm so sorry🙏". The only video I made I that way and many asked me that it would be great with voice over😭. But! Have you watched my recent video from 2 days ago with the Howl's Moving Castle project. @tuat555 Thank you for your answers and the knowledge you provided :)
Ummm let me know if pressing TAB does solve the problem👍...cuz I'm kinda curious about the freeze issue you have 🤔
Same scenario
I think 🤔 this happened when creating the circle. There 2 steps to follow. First click, you create the circle (drag the mouse to get the desired size). Second after release the click you have to valid the drawing by either middle mouse click, hit enter or hit space... and then you will get the circle 👍. I do believe that's the issue you encountered 😉
@@tuat555 thanks it worked!
@@tuat555 Thank you :) I also want to ask you how do you change your timeline like in 10:07-10:08? It looks like a lot of keyframes were somehow hidden😅
what is the music at 22:35?
Edit: nvm, found it. Satie - Gymnopédie No. 1 -- thanks for sharing this music.
Haha 😁 yes that the one! I'm glad you like it too 🌟
Does Blender grease pencil compete or at least come close to Toonboom? Toonboom's like 1.4k a year now LOL
So today Toonboom has some good challenger to compete with 😁
Great! Thanks :)
It's a pleasure ✌️😁, thank you!
Thank you for sharing this awesome art! Do you know if I can I import this to unity?
