@@Fahnder99 You can't "break limitations" in the mechanical sense of art, but you can break/alter/subvert _expectations._ Limitations boost creativity and creativity breaks expectations, It's far easier to make an amazing artwork when you subvert the expectation (why do you think people like seeing characters drawn in so many different styles? It's because they get to see the character in a new context, which shifts their expectations) Pixel art is a great avenue for this; A small 2D workspace (usually with a limited palette) will give the expectation of something simple, so if you make a complex or scenic it'll subvert those expectations and thus look amazing compared to a more restricted alternative. Having less total resources, (limitations), _forces_ an increase in creativity to compensate.
I am currently making a pixel art game, and this is going to be just SO USEFUL for my bosses, cause drawing and animating all of that with traditional pixel art would be a real pain in the ass. Thanks.
Hello! If you are using a new version of Blender which uses Eevee Next and encounter an issue while trying to set render settings, you might have to edit the 28th line in addon PY file, changing 'BLENDER_EEVEE' to 'BLENDER_EEVEE_NEXT'. Reinstall the addon after that, it worked for me.
Heyo, do you know what to do for a tri-light setup? Getting this other error: " AttributeError: 'ShaderNodeTree' object has no attribute 'outputs' " Your advice worked for the initial setup, hope you have a solution for this 😅
@@itsmikerr I had the same error when clicking Create/Reset Material in multi-light section. For me it worked to first click Tri Light Setup, then Create/Reset Material. Hope that works for you!

Well a lot of image viewers might apply their own filtering to an image, e.g. you post an image in teams or something and it will appear filtered - even if it's not. You probably want to preview it on a computer @@MattSculpts
So, I really loved the add-on, but I have lots of issues with Eevee's freestyle tool, I don't think we have enough control while using it. So, I've came up with a solution of using the Ambient Occlusion node to make the edges of the object: Use two of them, check "Inside" as true for one of them (make sure you configure "Distance" in both of them). After that, use "math multiply" to combine them, followed by a color ramp set to constant mode and configure the black/white ratio. Use another math multiply before the color ramp where we select the model colors and combine with these nodes we just added This leaves the model with no outlines though, which I think could be solver by using generic toon shader solutions (easily found on youtube). To make the Outline outside of the object, use common methods for Toon Shading Outline found on youtube (I tried the duplicate mesh method) While there are some cases where the Freestyle setting may work better, this method gives lots of creative options also. Give it a try!
Dude, where has this stuff been? I've been doing pixel art since 2002 and messing with polys in everything from Lightwave to Blender, hoping to make pixel versions of my art somehow. This is life changing. 💯
This is truly amazing. After I learned how to use the addon it sent me on a month long challenge to do one pixel art per day, and your addon is making it possible
ayo this is so epic me and my dev buddy were thinking about our game project and we talked about the style Since I am a pretty good artist I thought of making animated cutscenes that'd be made in Blender but in pixel at first I thought "yeah sure" and made some thoughts about addons and some days later here comes that video in my recommendation feed thank you that'll be absolutely useful!! (sorry for my English, I'm not native)
I'm making a game right now and I want it to be 3d but be pixel art and look 2d (Exactly how this looks) this gives me so much more motivation to make it happen and this looks amazing!
This is awesome, I'm still learning blender, currently doing my donuts, but can't wait to learn more to be able to do some nice stuff with this plugin!
remember doing this by hand??? holy cow.. this is awesome.. The only negative thing i could see is that a lot of the outline black pixels are not tightened up nicely.. but other than that.. definitely worth playing with..
seeing this is cool because now i get how people do those cool 3d pixel art models but knowing some people they are also just that good and probably did it all by pixels only
goddamn I'm so happy that I saw this recommendation right now 'cause I finally back to my 3d learning process :) Thank you so much for this video it would be so helpful
This is fantastic, I have been avidly watching the development of programs, AI, etc that helps render pixel art animation and it is really stepping up the art style.
yo this is amazing!!!! Let's face it, I'm so lazy to tune-up my own shader... this is amazing :') Honestly Blender should just pay yah for an add-on like this if ya making it free
Top candidate for my hobby project. Im programming a 2d platformer and I've been looking for a similar solution. Do a animation in blender with a 3d model, set the camera to sideview and render the frames using this. Amazeballs, nice job dude.
Here's a fix if you're getting an error in Blender 4.2 with this addon: Open the python file with Notepad++ or VScode and comment out line 28 by putting a # symbol in front of it. Basically, line 28 will go from: bpy.data.scenes['Scene'].render.engine = 'BLENDER_EEVEE' to: #bpy.data.scenes['Scene'].render.engine = 'BLENDER_EEVEE' This should remove the part where Blender is trying to switch over to Eevee, and should stop giving you the error. Eevee got removed in 4.2 and this line of code tells Blender to look for a render engine that no longer exists. Optionally you can replace 'BLENDER_EEVEE' with 'BLENDER_EEVEE_NEXT' but then the addon won't be compatible with Blender 4.1 and lower.
You are a genius. I can't pay for this now, but if i will have dollar bill i will pay for this. I am 3d artist who need 2d graphics for game. Thanks very much. Sorry for mistakes, English is not my language.

This is insanely helpful for indie game dev purposes who struggle from making pixel art but is a better 3D artist.
Loving the dithering on the objects! It makes the render very stylized.
